    Every step of the way I doubted sharing this, BUT I think we (especially as creatives!) should talk about money way more openly. This is my two cents and I hope it gives you a realistic take on what the income of an artist could be like.
    Have you ever made a financial overview or a plan for the next year?

      Ah soo grateful to have found this video & your channel! Thank you so much for making time to create this one & for sharing so openly! I do agree about how artists should be more open about money -- this year has also been one of my hardest and has felt more shameful than generative for the last few weeks. You've really inspired me to share more/figure out some actions to put behind my stance✨🌹🙏🏿 , 🩵from an artist in the US

    Wow, you're making more money as an artist than Vincent Van Gogh ever made in his lifetime. And you didn't have to cut off your ear to do it. I've been an artist for many years and my best year i made $400.

    Thank you for this video. The reality is not the artist who sells each art piece for $100,000+, nor is it necessarily the starving artist. It’s clear that if you want to live off your art it needs to be treated like a business not a hobby. I so appreciate artists who share the reality & hard work that goes into being an owner /operator business. Loving your videos 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    I think it's great that you're doing this video even if it isn't your best year. It's important for people to see how an artist's wage can fluctuate and why it's therefore vital for all of us to support our favourite artists. This year has also been my worst in terms of sales, but I will continue to work hard on my paintings in the hopes that next year picks up! Wishing you a great holiday break!

    Thank you for making this video. I am working towards being able to monetize my videos (wish me luck) and I notice how some creators are transparent about one source of income, but not these others, or it's not a source of income but it affects their income (like living with roommates/partner/parents). Thank you for being honest and I wish you much success in 2024!! Woohoo!

    Halleluja! Eindelijk eens een eerlijke video over het leed dat financiën heet. Mijn paniek over dit onderwerp is zo heftig dat het zweet mij al uitbreekt als ik titels lees als 'My Income As An Artist & Content Creator' en dan bedragen van $10.000,- per maand voorbij zie komen. HOE DAN?! Anyhow, wederom een super fijne, eerlijke en interessante video. Ik wens je alle geluk in 2024 en dat je het nieuwe doel mag halen. Groetjes!

    • @whatsaroxy
      @whatsaroxy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Jij ook Debora! de meeste YT’ers die zulke bedragen delen komen ook uit de VS waar de salarissen NOG veel hoger liggen, dus de basis klopt al niet. Ik ben in het begin begonnen met een veel lager maandbedrag wat ik nodig had, alleen dat stijgt nu (door een huis, grotere studio, leefomstandigheden). Dus kijk vooral naar je persoonlijke situatie :-) Veel geluk in 2024! ✨

    Great video. It is always hard to tell what to share. I can appreciate your approach and the numbers make sense to me. I also found 2023 a bad year for sales, however my public commissions were good. As soon as the interest rates started to climb, sales dropped. Your diversification of income strategy makes sense and maybe might allow for more a predictable income, but my experience suggests it is very hard to achieve anything that is predictable. Nevertheless, your strategy makes sense and wish you the best. Cheers.

      Thanks! Oh absolutely haha. However, if I don’t set any goals I certainly won’t achieve them and I notice I get quite close if I work towards them over the year (not just monetary, but also having a strategy to reach them). Wish you the best for 2024!

    It was Interesting to see how differently artists make the income especially from the same country🙂 My income is coming exlisivly from selling originals. And this year was even better than before. Bad side of selling originals is that I have to spend 85 % of my time to editing images, publishing , packaging, shipping and so on and on. And only 10% of the time I can actually paint.🙁It means to work 24/7 ((((. Plus in order to increase my income I had to completely changed my style and many other things. I really admire how you can make any income without galleries at all, it's a separate talent you have. Best luck with your plans for 2024! 👏

    • @whatsaroxy
      @whatsaroxy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for sharing! If you don’t mind me asking, why did you have to change your style or to what? Do you enjoy this other style too? It’s great that you’re getting your entire income from originals though, for me that’s just too inconsistent.

    • @VitaSchagen
      @VitaSchagen 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@whatsaroxy Well, since the selling painting is my the only way of income, I had change the way I make my paintings in order to increase the profitability. That the process of creating art would make sense for me at all. Sure I miss the possibility to paint what I want and what is interesting for me but it doesn't sell. For example I love to do realistic still life or portraits. But It is not only hard to sell but also it takes a lot of time to create and at the same time I'm not able to ask any decent price for that kind of paintings....they are just not on high demand in our time. We both know the prices here:) I have to pay my bill as all people do. Finally I found some joy to make things faster and some paintings I've made I even like myself. About inconsistency, from my experience it's matter of time and amount of work I put in it. It does pay back now but took me about 4-5 years to understand it - yeah, not very fast:) Funny thing for me is that if I personally think that some painting is really really bad - it sold faster- still a mystery for me🤔

    • @whatsaroxy
      @whatsaroxy  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for responding! That last part is very relatable, I’ve done works on paper ‘sales’ where the first ones to go are the ones I doubted including and the ones I think will sell first don’t sell 😂 ah well.

    • @VitaSchagen
      @VitaSchagen 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@whatsaroxy So true. Few of my "best" works have been waiting for the right customer over 5 years😂😂 I was too stubborn to slow down the price. It's becoming a problem though with a time because of the lack of free space to keep it. Especially if renting an studio in Amster is not an option for me anymore. Love your new art studio btw, I can imagine how happy you are to create your amazing works over there. Sometimes t is really nice to talk to the fellow artist, especially if I respect and love their artworks. Thank you for our little chat:)
