A very good point that the OT wasn't just about Luke Skywalker and the PT was just as much about Obi Wan and Padme as it was Anakin.. so Mando & Grogu being the titular characters kind of breaks the mold, but not in a good way. For my money, the dark times is an era that is rich for story telling. It's largely untouched, apart from SOLO and Kenobi, with the latter being only a pivotal moment of story told over the span of maybe a week. Lucasfilm needs to go back to the Clone Wars in live action and in a big impressive way, but with different characters and a different narrative. Quinlan Vos is a no brainer, as is Ventress. We could see a live action Aayla Secura and Aurora Sing. These characters deserve their day in the sun at this point. But A'Sharad Hett, a character that only existed in the comics, is so compelling. He has interaction with Anakin and Obi Wan.. even many years after Order 66 and on Tatooine where he and Kenobi are at logger heads as Hett is a human Tusken warlord, which is echoed with Boba Fett's redemption arc a decade or so later. So the foundation has been layed in many respects, though Hett has much more history with the sandpeople than Fett. This has the potential of Lawrence of Arabia and that is what Star Wars needs to be. They need to return to the "impossible" epic spectacular event. Not this movie of week shite they've been serving up, which is disgusting and also embarrassing.
I kind of agree with you there. Just because a character's show is over doesn't mean they could cameo in other movies or shows. I mean Boba Fett cameoed in Jedi: Survivor and his show was over years before that game was even in development. So even if the Mandalorian movie is the closing chapter for the Mandalorian, he's bound to appear in other things since both the Mandalorian and Grogu both became two of the greatest hits in Disney Star Wars.
Well it was Jon Favreau that said himself that he had many more seasons of The Mandalorian still to do, so we will see what happens. The one thing that would be stupid would be to ditch it, because not only has the series been popular with regular Star Wars fans both new and old, but Grogu has attracted millions of young girls / women fans around the world, because of how 'cute' they think he is. And let's face it, if you win the girls over with Sci-Fi, especially with a character like Grogu then you are definitely onto a money making winner with that, when it comes to both shows but also toys and other merchandise. Grogu has also become a big part of the online "MEME" culture, so that's another winner for the series.
I'm one of the decreasing number of original Star Wars series viewers. I abandoned it when it became production process. I did enjoy Rogue One and purchased Andor and Solo. I am among the many who enjoyed the retro Mandalorian. Sorry to see it go away and being fed into the production chaos cesspool oof late. Rather similar to Daniel Craig's 007 character's fate. I refuse to watch that also. It was nice to touch Star Wars again, however briefly.
All stories, at last, come to an end. I'm okay with Mando coming to an end. Doesn't mean it's the end we see of Din or Grogu. P.S. love the take on this, always enjoy your content, love the accent!
there is a role for both movies and tv/streaming. movies today are big budget complex entities. streaming is great for building backstory at modest budget to build up for the movie. It can also work after a movie to explore side characters in more detail, possibly then leading to a movie
Its production prices to return ratio, as well as time to produce. Tv shows that are 45 mins per episode and 10 episodes are 7.5 hours or about 3.5 movies. If the show falls flat, it will take a bigger hit long term on prices. Movies are more flexible for course correcting. Acolyte is a perfect example of a failing tv show being a money sink.

I just wish the DISNEY part of it ENDED for good, and we had some NEW versions of Star Wars that are of Quality and Merit. Rather than DEI and the "Message" and the Political Propaganda.

Meh, it all connects back to Luke Skywalker's death as an embittered petulant suicidal turd with no heir to his legacy. No Mara Jade, no Ben Skywalker... no Jacen or Jaina Solo. I did like Mando season 1 and 2 but I'm pretty much over Disney's Star Wars. Disney's contribution to the Skywalker saga was to kill off the Skywalkers and replace them with a Palpatine thus the Emperor won. Greeeat. If Filoni did Heir to the Empire, Dark Forces Rising, and The last Command he'd either have to retcon the sequel trilogy (which won't happen) or he'd have to do a derivative version which would suck. The best of those two options won't happen, so I'm not interested personally, and I doubt I'll be interested in the Mando movie at this point.
If they do a Mando and Grogu movie ,,, I think the possibilities are endless what they can do ,,,, they need an all-out war against the Blue devil thrawn,,, they need to gather all the forces on the good side like ahsoka etc etc to go against thrawn and all the bad guys in the third movie of the trilogy there needs to be an all-out war and it takes thrawn out
