The reason I have loved Karen's voice so much is that she sounds so much like my mother, Andra Willis (Muhoberac), who was on the Lawrence Welk show as a top regular performancist .. they share so many similarities. Mum never played drums, of course, but piano and violin. Excellent. John Denver even did a version of the song she wrote for me as a baby.. "No One Like You".. which has been recorded 3 times over the years by her, and covered by so many people around the world. Proud of her and my father Larry.

As a drummer myself, I'm not saying it's easy but singing or just singing along for me actually really helped me keep in time a lot more than traditional methods like counting or following a metronome.
It was the pre-warning to the dark side of "the entertainment industry" & it took Karen Carpenter, Elvis Presley & John Lennon (to name a few) in such a short time🎶💔
It was said that she was the most comfortable and content when she was behind the drum kit. The record company and Richard both coerced her to be up front and focus on singing. I think that just made her self image that much more fragile and vulnerable. If only they had left her in her element.....

They sound amazing, and are even more amazing to play. The tightness of the snare, and the response of the toms is very unique to these drums. The bass drum sounds and feels like your hitting cardboard, but in the best way possible. Give them a whirl if you’re given the opportunity.
Dude amazing playing the classical style and that hand over hand thing she did during the Tom rolls was incredible. These female pop stars today can't hold a candle to Karen Carpenter. She was one of the greatest to ever do it. That's real talent right there. No drum machines, samplers, or auto tune. No pretend angst, she isn't immature writing about breaking up with a BF at 33 years old like she is in middle school and wearing it like a badge of honor. Just raw talent.
The technical mastery is freakin incredible. 18 YO! Nuts this is just the snare, and two toms. Proof you don’t need the giant kit to make a serious impression! The snare work is just so clean and tight. That leaves you speechless. Indescribably awesome.
I have always heard her story. I looked into her because everyone always talks about how great she is. But WOW i didn't know she was this much of a badass. She needs a movie not just about her struggles but how awesome she was.
She definitely knew her music. Those chops were and stick control were studied and practiced. No slop to be seen. Singing and playing drums at the same time is also another level of difficulty that is not super easy to master. She was a very special musician and entertainer.
She was an absolute BEAST on the drums! She should have been allowed to continue performing that way, singing and playing the drums simultaneously, as she clearly enjoyed the combination.

They wanted a pretty girl dressed in fancy gowns or dresses back then & the drums hid them. Thankfully girls can do whatever they want, for the most part, in Western culture, it came as a result of a long hard fight. Sadly there were casualties in this fight.
Karen was so freaking accomplished! She was a crazy good drummer, and along with her hauntingly beautiful voice, she could sing in three different octaves - soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, and she did it well! She had so much left to offer to the world! It's truly heartbreaking how her mother made Karen feel like she was never enough. 💔

This woman never ceases to amaze me! WOW! Karen Carpenter already owns, arguably, the most beautiful female voice of all time, but she was an excellent drummer! As a former amateur drummer, I saw immediately her skills. Those drum sticks were flying!

I watched this when I was 7. I'm still playing, and she's one of the reasons why. She was so talented.
I was really young When I first saw her play drums on tv. I thought, I'm going to do that someday. I became a drummer because of her.

😪😭😢 I was 13 in 68 and she was so hot 🥵 and I still get all choked up thinking how tragic and senseless her early passing was 🥺. She had the voice of an angel and her and her brothers two part harmony was absolutely magical 🤗🥰. RIP 😍😘KC.

I wasn't born until the late 80s but it would have been an honour to see Karen Carpenter up close and personal. This video deserves much many more hearts and likes. Ms. Carpenter's voice is breathtaking and she always seemed like a sweetheart to me ❤️
