When the opposing DD completely ignores a surfaced submarine it's pretty easy to get 6 kills. BBs and CVs have no defense against submarines, no ability to even attempt a retaliation.
Yeah them big boi ships pretty screwed without their escorts. Hoping noisemaker consumables will be given to battleships at least so subs will have to be alot more sneaky against them not just sitting in one spot pinging the crap out of battleships while the battleships can't do anything about it.

tbf the T4 falke was homing and if a torpedo was detonated below a ships keel, it would cause it to split in half, effectively meaning that it did ignore anti-torpedo measures such as bulges.
@@GrandIronTarkus Yep right. Any Navy at that point realised a Torpedo exlpoding under the keel would render conventional bulges and Anti-Torp protection on ships useless. But unsuccseful technology (being in the infancy of it) and magnetic detonators being very unreliable (Every major Navy had problems with them), made them use easier ways to detonate Torpedos. Only with the advancement of technology and computers aswell as more reliable ways to detonate torps without Impact-fuses made these kinds of Torps the norm we have today.
The super realistic simulations where you sit in front of your pc setting minor things up, navigating gauges, menus, views and waiting 30 mins just to arrive to a certain destination and mabye encounter a enemy, not only in submarine games but in any war vehicle game gives me more amusement, adrenalin and satisfaction than in their arcady counterparts or any high/fast action game, not saying they are bad.

Have an oxygen meter so that subs are forced to surface every now and then when they don't want to.

CV actualy need some kind of ASW planes, because in the current gameplay, they can't do ANYTHING if the sub player know what he's doing... kinda bad knowing that a good part of the Uboats have been destroyed by planes.
Yo those subs are labeled like CVs in team composition panels what. I know they're new so it'll probably be fixed sooner or later but it's a bit funny.

It will not, not in that state, it's maybe about 50% finished: BB need some kind of counter to homing torpedoes like a decoy or limited charge of depth charge, or airplane with depth charge in place of the spotting plane for example. CV also need ASW plane, because in the current state of work, they cant do ANYTHING. They also need to add back the oxygen mechanic that forced the subs to actually surface the boat from time to time. All in all, if they do that, they MIGHT actualy add a new interesting gameplay to the game
How about they give the BBs helicopters, rockets, or their own homing torps? I'm sure there's room on the deck of, say, a New Mexico to put space age weaponry to counter the stupid little space age subs.

Yes, when you hit the markers on the ship with the sonar the torpedoes will correct their course to hit the ship. They will loose that guidance when they get close to the ship though. This makes them pretty hard to dodge for large immobile ships but fairly easy for DDs and light Cruisers.
If there are only battleships on the enemy team left, and you're in a destroyer, if you have 3 braincells there's nothing left to threaten you directly. Also, a meta hasn't been developed for the destruction of subs yet. In the future there WILL be players dedicated to sub hunting, just like IRl and just like players who are dedicated to destroyer hunting.
This will end up killing BBs even further because if there is no DD with more than 10 brain cells around you while there are subs close then you're as good as target practise.
Can you explain what It means when you press 1 for the sonar? I have noticed a difference when i press It twice, It changes in diameter from wide spread to a narrow spread. Does that change the trajectory of the launched torpedoes?
It does not. A focused Sonar 'beam' goes faster but is narrower, while the wider Sonar 'beam' goes slower but has a higher chance of hitting the target points on the enemy ship.
Love all the haters out there who hate the subs, I think its a new and refreshing part of the game and if you dont like it cry some where else as subs will recive their own game mode you dont even need to play against them.

I feel though they could be the tier 10s of there respective countries lines I-400 could launch 3 bombers like a CV when surfaced but could also only retrieve them when surfaced same with the M2 but with a scout plane whilst the X1 and M1 and Surcouf could surface to use there huge guns. the M1 I beleive could even fire from periscope depth.

Those torpedos from a Uboat just finished self-navigation! GG world of warships just invented another new technology for a WWII ship after advanced optical camouflage.
But...Every Navy experimented with Homing Torpedos...Germany being on the frontier of it. Homing Torpedos aswell as Torps who would follow a predetermined path layout were very realistic and used in WW2. The gripe you could pull is that the Homing back then was Acoustic, meaning they would go for the propellers and drive shafts as these were/still are super loud on ships.
@@beaumoses4414 yes, but they are shitty IRL, anybody who played SH3 knows, he could only follow ships +20 knots because they needed a HUGE sound source or they could be confused by the wakes and environment sounds, this is why IRL acoustic torpedos was used only against destroyers chasing them and the allies quickly made countermeasures
Speed actually does piss me off. When the German line of BBs came out I asked a question on the forum why they couldn't give a speed boost to the US battleships. After all, they were pushing the German BBs up over 23 with Biden at 25 kts. Why wouldn't they push the US BBs up a bit. Was told they wanted to keep it realistic and the Germans could have refitted their BBs with better engines. This sub never had a speed over 20kts, it was only done to appease the sub players so they wouldn't whine about how slow subs are when they are going max 17 kts on the surface.
It seems the only counter to subs are dd, light cruisers and sub. I'm concerned as a CV main: how am i supposed to protect myself when a sub sneak on my carrier, do I need to protect my dd at all cost or im just screwed? (Don't get me wrong on playing CV for any reason, I just love to fly and if I ever wanted to play war thunder ill definitely pick plane. I have World of Warplane downloaded too)
I took out two while they chased me in Ark Royal. As long as they’re above like ten meters, you can hit them and if you can get sailing in a straight line, they can’t keep up. One rocket or bomb drop is half their health.
@@gzer0x the problem is as a CV u want to be as near to the frontline as possible (not actually showing up but hide yourself behind islands so u won't be spotted easily) so sometimes will camp behind islands, and that's the worst time: Imagine u just parked behind an island, launched a squad and at half way to your target u got sonar pinged.
Praying for this to be a separate game-mode, played the submarine game-mode and that's fun because I KNOW what to expect. 5 subs on each team in random matches will just upset the whole streamer and gameplay video industry around this game to the point of extinction.
Honestly I have to agree with most people .. Playing subs is NOT fun. I just had a game where I got 8 torp hits in a U-69 including sinking one BB and one enemy sub (that was already damaged). And honestly the entire experience felt more like WORK than a game. Oh I had to pin the BB once then ping again then fire the torps. And of course had to go up a bit recharge a bit then back down after several rounds of pings and torps. But the whole sequence was ping ping fire ping ping fire. And since you are underwater all you get are silohettes of things even rocks so it's a boring view, you have no real sense of the direction ships are going or their speed since you can't see the smoke (obviously). Also I will say whomever did this video was using something to aid them. The Pings are supposed to hit a small area to be effective and he was hitting again and again and again with complete accuracy. Sorry the game does not work that way for most players. His display clearly shows he has a mod of some sort active and that is aiding his aim in some manner so his pings connect while most players will find themselves missing over and over and over. I also like how his charge was INCREASING while under water which again is a major flaw in the subs as charge on the batteries go DOWN (or they should) .. talk about a magical mystery sub here.
First I agree with you, the only fun part was hunting subs with subs, but using cheats in a totally new game mode that has just been released??? (Apart from PTS) people is mad lately. Btw I can do almost the same and I am not cheating, (except WASD HAX 😜) although this guy is very good at it, better than me. Apart from that he is using fast pings (you can change between narrow fast ping and slower wide ping) so it's easier to hit ships at long ranges although the range isn't that long because german torpedoes for submarines have 6.something km of range. Edit: And last this view of the game is from Top Tier game client, and he has some mods that help him with replays (clear water mod, and the points countdown) and that's also why the replay can be buggy because this mods aren't ready for this kind of battle (as I said it's new mode) so the camera is failing, that's why in some parts in the game he tooks control of the camera like in 12:21 for example. Btw the last part of the batteries underwater I couldn't understand what you were trying to say, are you talking about him or about the submarines gameplay design?

I took out two while they chased me in Ark Royal. As long as they’re above like ten meters, you can hit them and if you can get sailing in a straight line, they can’t keep up. One rocket or bomb drop is half their health.
I think light cruisers or destroyers are not counter. I'll post a video about it tomorrow.
@@gzer0x the problem is as a CV u want to be as near to the frontline as possible (not actually showing up but hide yourself behind islands so u won't be spotted easily) so sometimes will camp behind islands, and that's the worst time: Imagine u just parked behind an island, launched a squad and at half way to your target u got sonar pinged.
Submarine battles are very interesting.
How can you avoid homing torps?
They don’t seem to turn that quickly, try kiting them out then giving it a hard turn like 120ish degrees so u are heading towards them at an angle
Praying for this to be a separate game-mode, played the submarine game-mode and that's fun because I KNOW what to expect.
5 subs on each team in random matches will just upset the whole streamer and gameplay video industry around this game to the point of extinction.

Honestly I have to agree with most people .. Playing subs is NOT fun. I just had a game where I got 8 torp hits in a U-69 including sinking one BB and one enemy sub (that was already damaged). And honestly the entire experience felt more like WORK than a game. Oh I had to pin the BB once then ping again then fire the torps. And of course had to go up a bit recharge a bit then back down after several rounds of pings and torps. But the whole sequence was ping ping fire ping ping fire. And since you are underwater all you get are silohettes of things even rocks so it's a boring view, you have no real sense of the direction ships are going or their speed since you can't see the smoke (obviously). Also I will say whomever did this video was using something to aid them. The Pings are supposed to hit a small area to be effective and he was hitting again and again and again with complete accuracy. Sorry the game does not work that way for most players. His display clearly shows he has a mod of some sort active and that is aiding his aim in some manner so his pings connect while most players will find themselves missing over and over and over. I also like how his charge was INCREASING while under water which again is a major flaw in the subs as charge on the batteries go DOWN (or they should) .. talk about a magical mystery sub here.
First I agree with you, the only fun part was hunting subs with subs, but using cheats in a totally new game mode that has just been released??? (Apart from PTS) people is mad lately.
Btw I can do almost the same and I am not cheating, (except WASD HAX 😜) although this guy is very good at it, better than me. Apart from that he is using fast pings (you can change between narrow fast ping and slower wide ping) so it's easier to hit ships at long ranges although the range isn't that long because german torpedoes for submarines have 6.something km of range.
Edit: And last this view of the game is from Top Tier game client, and he has some mods that help him with replays (clear water mod, and the points countdown) and that's also why the replay can be buggy because this mods aren't ready for this kind of battle (as I said it's new mode) so the camera is failing, that's why in some parts in the game he tooks control of the camera like in 12:21 for example.
Btw the last part of the batteries underwater I couldn't understand what you were trying to say, are you talking about him or about the submarines gameplay design?
