For us newbies who have not started PPL yet, thanks for all the pre-flight checklist and landing checklist stuff. I really like to learn vicariously how the "flow" of flying a plane works. I am going to take all that to my PPL journey I hope to start next year. Love the videos. Keep'em coming!
You won't regret it! It's common for pilots to verbalize checklists; it helps ensure steps aren't skipped. Another good practice is to actually touch each item as it's being checked off; switches and gauges, etc.
I love your video! Your video brought back the memory of me ferrying a Diamond Katana from California to Ontario Canada, that was over 20 years ago. Excellent video Hayley!
Hi Hayley Herberg, I appreciate your excellent flight driving from your DA 20 Ferry flight. Hayley, You are my best pilot. I like your Canada border crossing and, factory pick up. You can drive the plane so well Hayley and you can face challenges so well
Haley, Well done. You made a wise choice. Purdue University. I live in Indy. Hoosier native. Glad you got an awesome place too stay. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. Safe travels.
Great video Haley. We use Port Huron airport during our summer visits to Michigan from Orlando. Fred A. was my flight instructor when we both lived in Michigan. When you see him, tell him I said Hello!
RUclips just sent me your first video. This would be my first ferry flight video I have watched. I would love to go through the adventure with you on RUclips. Looking forward to your adventure videos. --Alex
Pro tip - keep your clothes for the next day on the hard surfaces usually by the TV, that way if you have a bed bug issue, you won’t be taking those guys home with you.
Entomologist here, forget the hard surface, won't make a difference. Just make sure to unload and wash the cloth as soon as you arrive, mothballs the luggage and put it outside.
London is just one control zone away from my home base; occasionally drop in there to pick up a passenger that I'm taking for a ride in my RV9. I toured the Diamond plant in the mid 90s when composite production aircraft was quite the novelty in Canada. Subbed and will enjoy watching.
It’s a good idea to tighten lap belt so that shoulder harnesses don’t pull lap belt up over your stomach or ribs. If you have an engine failure right after takeoff and make a emergency landing with a quick stop, you won’t like all those G forces focused on your stomach and lower ribs. 5 point belts are better.
Wow! I've seen a lot of pilots, you are just calm and cool throughout anything! Great job, you fly very responsibly and safe! I guess you landed at the Spirit of St Louis airport instead of Lambert. I live in St Louis, that's a nice airport. Happy Flying :)
Great video. First I’ve watched and as others have said, you have a really calm and cool manner that is great to watch. I was thinking - you’d make a fantastic instructor. Then I check out your bio and see you already are :)
Nice vid. You may want to dial the audio in level down on your audio recorder, as it was clipping/distorting about half the time. That’s why it is buzzing the whole time.
Just thought I would check out this video and again no clip of clearing customs. Would've been nice to see their procedures since so many ports operate differently.
Fun to watch. You need to produce more videos. I saw on one of your videos that you were flying near Lake Tahoe. Do you live in Texas or California? Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Phoenix Arizona! I love the diamond star it’s one of my favorite airplanes. I probably have about 200 hours in that plane and I really like the new DA 50 that are a serious SR 22 or a Cessna Corvallis, which is the old Columbia 400. They are awesome nice airplanes, unfortunately I can’t get a medical right now so I’m thinking about getting a new PC because I’m a Mac person and getting Microsoft flight simulator and buying some Garman G 1000 instruments for my home which are the Sim stuff that you can have at home that looks like the real thing. Thanks for sharing the video with us.
Cool Video. I got my private pilot in a DA-20 and did my intermediate/XC time in one as well. Nice little airplane and the center stick was very intuitive. Currently flying pipeline in W. TX. How do you like ferrying planes? I actually worked at Meacham Airport for several years and believe I met Travis, seemed like a nice guy. Thanks for the video.
Purdue is in Lafayette, Indiana, not Fayetteville. 😊 You practically flew over my house about halfway between Ann Arbor and Lafayette. Great video! New subscriber, looking forward to seeing more ferry flights.
I didn't know Diamond was even making new DA-20s. Hand flying long distances is a lot of work. I've seen a few pics here there that the current version of the DA-20 has an option for an autopilot (S-Tec?). Both the DA-20 and DA-40 are super nice flying machines, and fairly speedy too. If I recall, the DA-20 can get upwards of 130 knots max cruise.
Great video Hayley! The DA-20 is a cool aircraft, looks very comfortable too. I’ll bet the cockpit can get pretty hot in the sun though. Does it come standard with A/C? Free crew car, yes please! The hotel “room” in Perdue was amazing, like a really nice apartment! Looking forward to Part 2 🤗
Ive just started following your channel. Its a great incite into your area of aviation. Love the videos - keep them up!! Is there any chance you could show a map of where you will fly at the start of your trips - Im not from the USA so I sort of guess or look at google maps when you say where you are going. thanks
Great aircraft. I transitioned from Cessna to Diamond DA20 very quickly. The control stick was easy; visibility really good, performance on climbout notable; and really low fuel flow. Of course, having to turn on fuel pump was new and controllable prop. I'm thinking the type you were flying didn't have that (controllable prop), right?
Just discovered your channel Do you do ferry flights full time? If so what's your schedule like? Do you love what you do? I live in the GTA Just curious, where did you do your flight training I'm considering genesis flight school in stayner- they use D40's, Do you think it's better to learn in them or the more common cessna 172 I may even consider doing training in Florida. Warmer, bit better pay and bit more job opportunities
i should hire you to ferry my 180 cessna and my 421 cessna to germany. this summer. i will however be watching you asi fly above you in my challenger lol serious i need to hire someone who i can trust.
Just subscribed and if you would please keep the music out of the cockpit. Like you explanations while flying along, very informative. Look foreword to more videos. Thanks for posting
DeHavilland Mosquito was built in the very same factory there in London Ontario Canada during WW2.
For us newbies who have not started PPL yet, thanks for all the pre-flight checklist and landing checklist stuff. I really like to learn vicariously how the "flow" of flying a plane works.

From factory to customer that is interesting job 😊
Love how nonchalant you are! Great flying!!
Shout out from London ON. 🙌🇨🇦 😊
I love your video! Your video brought back the memory of me ferrying a Diamond Katana from California to Ontario Canada, that was over 20 years ago. Excellent video Hayley!
Love the video, I start my ppl in January and I cant wait to get going , fly safe with love from Liverpool UK
Just discovered the channel. Good luck and from one pilot to another..........ENJOY!
What a great job! And a great video as well.
Hi Hayley Herberg, I appreciate your excellent flight driving from your DA 20 Ferry flight. Hayley, You are my best pilot. I like your Canada border crossing and, factory pick up. You can drive the plane so well Hayley and you can face challenges so well
Hayley, enjoy your video's. Thank you. Robert
Good story telling with setting the seen before and after. I got to do more of that in mine.
Haley, Well done. You made a wise choice. Purdue University. I live in Indy. Hoosier native. Glad you got an awesome place too stay. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. Safe travels.

Fun to watch. Thanks Hayley.
Great video, nice flying Hayley ! Keep the videos coming !
Just found your channel. You seem soo calm and relaxed. Have subscribed. Stay safe.Mick🇬🇧
I enjoyed the video. I remember watching your first solo flight at Watsonville.
Very nice video :) looking forward for more videos :)
Looks like a nice slick plane! 👍👍
Good morning from Minnesota USA. Nice video.
Diamonds are near and dear to me, if only for their genesis in sailplanes!! ☺
Wonderful Vid Hayley! As someone else said, you have a really likeable and easy style - cool, calm and collected!
RUclips just sent me your first video. This would be my first ferry flight video I have watched. I would love to go through the adventure with you on RUclips. Looking forward to your adventure videos. --Alex
Beautiful flight and very informative. And to top it all off you got free lunch! Sounds like a pretty good gig.🐶
Great video. Just discovered your channel. You have a new subscriber in Scotland.
Great job!!

🤪🤪🤪🤪
Strip the bed cover back before you get in. If there are bed bugs there will be evidence. Anything you don't like, walk out and sleep in the plane.

Very cool! It's been ages since I flew in and out of KLAF.
I enjoyed watching you on this part of your flight, I have some time in a DA20 flying in VNC Venice Florida .... good job

Hi Hayley...Love your gentle disposition. You make me want to fly the DA20 more❤. Next flight tomorrow in MFS2020. YA, SIM only lol😅
great views; scenery and pilot! :) Nice to be along for the ride (rental car, hotel, etc.) E travel!
Nice video. No night flying for me either(when I was flying years ago). Color vision or lack thereof…take me flyin! 2L0/AEX😊

I love your content, and I miss some of your old videos that you took down. The Niaraga one was pretty cool. Safe flying!
Great video. First I’ve watched and as others have said, you have a really calm and cool manner that is great to watch. I was thinking - you’d make a fantastic instructor. Then I check out your bio and see you already are :)
I love how bs free your vod is.

Hope you enjoyed your time in Ontario! Watching from Niagara Falls 🇨🇦
Glad you started making new videos. I enjoyed this. Keep it up!❤
Fun to watch. You need to produce more videos. I saw on one of your videos that you were flying near Lake Tahoe. Do you live in Texas or California? Thanks for sharing.
Great video! I was going to ask how you get back home after delivering the aircraft, but I suppose that will be in Part 2

Would love to know how to get a ferry pilot job! Looks like a lot of fun!
lots of networking! ask around sales companies near you and see if they have pilot positions.
Nice job!! Thank you for sharing. And yes, Chipotle is the best. LOL. Safe travels. :)

I love it! You learn a lot when its just you and the plane for a couple days.
That was definitely a preview of a remake of Hitchcock's - The Birds. Good luck with the rest of the flight!
I don’t think I had one takeoff or landing without running into birds on Day 1 😂
Purdue is in Lafayette, Indiana, not Fayetteville. 😊 You practically flew over my house about halfway between Ann Arbor and Lafayette. Great video! New subscriber, looking forward to seeing more ferry flights.
If Diamond makes a DA20 retract, I'm there for it.

I have not seen a DA20 with AC however its 4 seater version the DA40 does! Thanks appreciate it!
@@FlywithHayleythank you!
It does have an external air intake that can get pretty cold, but I don't think they have ac. It gets hot even in the winter.
Awesome video!

Lol when ya was landing at purdue i could see my parents house! Hope everyone here treated ya good!
Love the video Hayley! ◡̈
What a great gig! Glad this made my algorithm. Do they happen to need any more ferry pilots? 🙏🏻
13:12 - Alfred Hitchcock must have been inspired by this location!
Great video!
Port Heron=Port Huron
Great video!
Goed gedaan!
How long was this trip/how many stops ?
I live close to St. Louis! I want to fly😁🎉
Hello nice Video cool 😊
I really liked your video, and how relaxed and beautiful you're up there... next time can you put a camera from the back so we can see the cockpit? :)
Just discovered your channel
Do you do ferry flights full time?
If so what's your schedule like?
Do you love what you do?
I live in the GTA
Just curious, where did you do your flight training

Should have more cameras so we can all see the instruments and front view. Nice lady
You speak of not flying after dark. Is that your personal choice or a company policy with Premiere?
You need to look up an old horror movie, called the birds and try to watch it. It will scare you out of your mind ha ha.
G O A L S ! ! !
I see the owners manual behind you but what is in the box???
Departure 028 at CYXU ? Forefligth gave me 027 … si it correct ?
i should hire you to ferry my 180 cessna and my 421 cessna to germany. this summer. i will however be watching you asi fly above you in my challenger lol serious i need to hire someone who i can trust.
You should get a plane with icing on it would be good for you
Just subscribed and if you would please keep the music out of the cockpit. Like you explanations while flying along, very informative. Look foreword to more videos. Thanks for posting
I want to fly my SR22 to Montreal but just saw the requirement for a top and lower ADS-B antenna…. Does your diamond have a mod for that?
Is there a break in period for Rotax? If so, what are the rpm constraints? Thx
It’s actually got a continental! This one has an IO240 fuel injected but they come in two variants - the other being rotax
VFR - Very Fun Route
I got kicked out of two clubs for that joke.
how do they send the tech records etc vs you take them
Hayley, Just curious does this DA20 have a autopilot?
it does not- hand flew the whole way!
are you still IFR? i noticed you use VFR for long distance from canada to texas.. how impossible?
🖐👋😍😘
$150 room with kitchen is good price where you at.
Which airport did you land at?
landed at KLAF!
Can you do a video inflating an airplane life jacket?
Hi
lol! not being ugly, at 12:56 you look fantastic!
A totally inappropriate comment demonstrating ridiculous insensitivity.
Please get a stabilized camera for future non headache videos
Sooo sad that you had to have a room to yourself 😁
Jesus, dude…
The music is way too loud and distracting. Really killed the video.
Too much editing...
