My son is learning to fly in this plane and you make it look easy. Glad to see.
Just stumbled on this channel and I have to say, it's my favorite aviation channel right now. Very back to basics and I love your sense of humor and attitude. Well done!
Thankyou!!
I'm NOT a pilot but I "LOVE" aircraft. I'm an old(er) guy and it was always a dream but an unrealized dream. Thank you for sharing your flights and the processes. Even if I never learn to fly, I'm learning the language and methods by watching and listening. It's the next best thing! Thank you SO very much. There are many channels I follow and I recently found and added yours. May your skies always be clear and the wind calm. Thanks again !!!
You are setting a great example on how to fly safely.
Great video. I love your calm nature in flight, checklist call outs, radio calls, and cockpit Management. I learn the things I do right in the diamond, the things I can do better, and the things I’ve never done and should through your posts. Safe flight, Hayley. I’m a big fan. 😊
Great video Hayley! You are perhaps the only pilot I’ve ever seen smile while announcing a 40kt headwind 😮 Not having an autopilot for such a long flight is tough but keeps you on your toes especially when you’re by yourself. The 40 is the sedan, the 20 is the sports car! Nice snack haul for the final leg, cup holder for your coffee? The plane’s shadow as you touched down in San Angelo was amazing, I hope you caught that. Right seat was a bit crowded but thanks for taking me along 🤗 BTW…love your “radio” voice!
Catching the shadow in the sunset was a great perspective.
If I could offer a suggestion to make ferry flight videos a little more interesting, just maybe a look from over your shoulder at the panel or over the cowl from time to time would break up the single fixed camera viewpoint. No one is going to get tired of looking at you but as long as you’re taking us along, please let us see some of what you’re seeing as well. Thanks for posting.
She could but it is all about her anyway. Maybe sometime in the future she will be able to afford another camera.
@@ohwell2790 In the interest of increased viewership I submit that varied camera angles and some concept of the environment would contribute substantially. Of course there's more complex editing involved. That said, there are quite a few RUclips presenters whose flight videos do these things and have great content. Viewers choice.
There's nothing like flying parallel to an interstate into a headwind and watching the cars pass me!
ALSO, it was way cool seeing your plane's shadow as you touched down!
Liked the shadow of your plane off the left wing. San Angelo has special memories from AF days.
Great "greaser" landings, Hayley! Especially that tricky crosswind in MO. Thanks for taking us along!
Very well done, Hayley. Keep them coming.
I got the privilege of flying a Jabiru from Central Cal to Redwing MN in one day. I had a 11 hr flying day, it was fantastic!
Fun flight you made with that nice DA 20. Thanks for taking us along!
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode it was super fun to watch your Shadow come in and meet you at the runway on your last Landing
What a great channel. The fun years of aviation.
Great accomplishment and a great video.
Thanks Haley!
thanks for answering the comment I gave, I am not a pilot but enjoy watching the the view from videos like you are making thanks for the nice videos
quickly becoming a hugh fan of yours , even though I’m not a pilot, and I love your level of professionalism. Clearly it shows how much you love your piloting and “ferrying”career! Kudos to you Hayley. I’ve always been drawn and fascinated W aviation, however, at 68 yrs (young) I most likely will only get as close to flying in a simulator. :). Keep making your awesome videos please . And hope one day you can find your way to PWM (Portland, Maine USA). :)
Great video, great video production…
Enjoyed your video and in particular, your landing at our small airport in San Angelo. I know a few students of ASU who attend Skyline and I have watched them flying as I play golf near the airport.
Excellent vlog, it was very enjoyable. In the future, you may consider a forward-view camera too. Maybe you could include a little information about the airports you visit, especially neat little facilities. You might mention the runway length and width and a little something, with images of the facility itself. I love flying into these little airports when I fly cross country but I leave time to chat a little to the staff. Neat stuff. Keep up your work.
Loving these videos Hayley, I'm enjoying catching up on all these cool trips. Thanks for taking us along 🤙
I love these small airports in the middle of nowhere USA. Near my home is Greybull,Wyoming and Cowley. Cheaper fuel than home field. Really cool at sunset. Not a sound. Bighorn mountains in the background . No where else in the world has so many small municipal airports. Canada, Australia and New Zealand have them. Hope they’re still here in 100 years.
really cool footage and vlog! I'm a fan and a subscriber :)
Excellent video! What great weather to fly in. . . It’s even more impressive watching you go effortlessly through your checklist flows without reading them - is that all committed to memory and does that confidence come from being a commercial pilot?
I liked that you knew why the rpms were lower climbing out of your fuel stop. I aborted a take off as a student pilot during a solo because I hadn't been taught that you don't make full rpm while dragging a plane down the runway. LOL Keep up the good work!
Very nice video. Thanks for sharing this awesome experience. You make me want to fly a DA20. In the future I'd like to see some video of the panel and view out over the cowling (hand held cell phone video when the workload is low, would be fine). Years ago I stopped at KSJT in a C150 on my commercial long cross-country.
Great job
Wish we had got to see more of the trip.
Great video..
Hi there Hayley. Fun watching you fly! I am really impressed with your greaser landings and thorough , not rushed, use of the checklists. Do you visually check the free travel and position correctness of flaps for both wings on your pre-takeoff check?
Awesome videos. I love the commentary along the flight. Why do you play music as you approach landing???
Very nice videos with nice smiles. Hayley.your description is very interesting. It is suggested to occasionly make a change by showing the outside of the plane by tilti ng camera in different positiins instead of keeping it fixed at one position all the time
“Long-ass wings” - that’s an industry term?
Happy Holidays Ley.
😂 no but it sure is true. Diamond’s DNA is gliders!
They really are long. I think the engine out procedure should read - immediately look for a landing spot in the next county!
Wow! That approach at KADM looked rough! Turbulence is one thing I'm not a fan of.
Hi Hayley, I am new to your channel and enjoying it. I agree with one of the comments of having a camera looking at the panel once in a while would be nice. BTW have you met ferry pilot Micke Lang he flies from the factory in Austria. Safe travels.
I hope you will have more frequent videos.
Is this your favorite plane in this segment? I was just looking at some of Diamond's other models. Autopilot seems like a must have.
You mentioned 'Fuel Burn' but you don't mention indicated GPM very often during the flight legs.
Correction 'GPH' - sorry.
Did you fly VFR, whole flight ??? ps- loved the music!
I thought DA20 were VFR only planes
I’m new to your channel
What is your go to music while flying
when you fuel the plane your self is there something that grounds the plane to prevent a spark.
there is yes! you attach a cable to the aircraft before fueling.
I see you are flying VFR does that mean you don't have your IFR ticket or was it just faster, I found out the other day you can get your commercial without being IFR as long as you have the hours in
the DA20 is not certified for IFR! My next video in the DA40 Tundra I fly IFR 😊 it’s an important rating to get, learned so much from it.
I’m kinda shocked this new diamond wasn’t optioned with auto pilot or even a USB to charge your electronics. Idk..
if you come to ca stop at ksbd
Excuse us, there is ALWAYS weather!
Just a thought about auto pilots, they call it autonomous but breathing is virtually without thought as becomes walking, ... , so best to not use an auto pilot until you've achieved a more unconscious ability to fly, and then not use it so much that you become rusty. I'm a non pilot with two names of birds in my given names, unlike Orville and Wilbur I hit my head playing bicycle tag and lost my memory for two days. That was almost 50 years ago. Wish someone would come up with an inexpensive radar for GA. planes. Or maybe AI, could make the long flights less monotonous.
You need more camera angles.
Great video, music a bit loud.
Why put " alone " in the header, we all now you ferry airplanes.
This was one of my first ferry videos! Have been able to shoot a lot more since then 🙏🏼
You could use less volume on the music or better yet not use it at all. I'm more interested in hearing your commentary clearly.
Music is a distraction
Well done! I dig the long haul pro tip: gummi worms and coffee. If you come back through Nashville again say hi! Enjoyed meeting you last year for a sec and getting shown around the rockstar Diamond.
Are you aware that when you cross the state line into Oklahoma, you are REQUIRED to sing the song "Oklahoma!" for us? It's in the FAA regulations!!
Would enjoy seeing more of your ferry flights, cheers and Happy Holidays!
Loving the videos, you are Gorgeous smart with a good sense of humor.
Ardmore has some good mom and pop restaurants. Thumbs up 👍
Great fun flying with you!
Great Video Hayley and happy holidays with love from Liverpool UK.
I did a pair of discovery flights in a DA 20 when I was taking soaring lessons. That was almost 20 years ago. I think it was a great trainer. And fun to fly.
I love flying but dang that was a long day! Stay safe and thank you for my flying fix for the day!
Nice video, seems lot of fun :)
That last landing has a cool view of a tall shadow of the plane.
How did you get in to doing ferry flights? I’m wanting to do that. I’m retired from the army after 26 years on active duty. I have no desire to fly for the airlines. Would love to do ferry flights as a side gig in retirement. Taking my commercial check ride on 4 Jan. Did entire commercial in the DA40 - I love this plane.
Sorry for having a headwind most the time, it's difficult in a DA20 .... you managed great 😀
The visibility from the Diamond is just amazing. I enjoy your videos, a lot, your love of aviation really comes through. Looking forward to more. 🌷
Another great video Hayley. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
As a curiosity, I guess you don't pee during that 5 hour flight :) I'll take a discovery flight tomorrow, so maybe I'll join the Aviation crowd too. Better late than never!
Hayley…..nice video and all your landings were so smooth. Wish I could have flown with you. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Hayley. Your Day 1 video did a much better job to show the audience the transitions of different terrains and the approach at each airport. Future pilots can use that video to learn a lot about flying VFR, as going around the weather, but using a some IFR flying technics to increase safety. Regards.
Does Diamond Aircraft have any plans to add sun visors to their aircraft interiors? That would be tricky to fly on a sunny day I'd imagine. But, that wraparound windshield is probably amazing when the bright sun isn't an issue.
Music so loud can't hear you, you sound like your just mumbling to yourself, can't hear the flight controller, can't see ahead of you or panel.
Going to Bentonville Arkansas from Lexington and flew over StLouis?!?!
1:36 When the temperature is being called out, it seemed to be in Celsius. I know America and Liberia are the only countries still using the outdated Fahrenheit, but in flying, do they use Celsius?
You are a super pilot. Great attention to detail. I'd fly with you. Robert
With the music playing at that volume, I couldn’t understand either the controller or you.
Love your videos. Music is sometimes a little high. Audio seems to cut in and out on the right channel. Keep up the great work!
What do you think is the hardest question/part while doing the private pilot’s written exam?
What is this magic? That thing flys without coffee? What? :)
Love it!!!
Enjoy your flight and happy birthday to your grandma!
Hayley, are you mixing IFR and VFR during your cross country ?
How so?
@@FlywithHayley Normally Hayley, when doing a 'cross country' it is interesting when the pilot changes from VFR to IFR when it happens at the discretion of the PIC when it happens and the reason/s is explained ???
Your fellow aviator @FlywithKay explains i great detail all her observations during her flight/s which is so interesting and more insightful into how her aircraft is performing and the reason/s why - her responses to the variations encountered during her flight. Perhaps you might want to try modifying your commentaries accordingly and see how it goes. ?
*in
Do you always fly solo or do you fly with any passengers?
Like Hayley's comments...
Yay Oklahoma... Boomer Sooner!
Does this plane have an heater
Great landings!
list
Great videos. I'm enjoying this ferry flight. What are your thoughts on the use of flight following for longer XC flights? I know it's optional, just curious as you mentioned monitoring guard and I'm curious about your experiences with flight following vs guard as another layer of safety on these flights.
Loved your content, and yes please see if you can a camera pointing forward and to the panel. Have fun and safe travels
27:15 "how do you hear?" "say again?" well, that answers that question 😆
Just a suggestion............ get a grip on your microphone(s). One minute I can barely hear you, the next moment I have to turn the volume down!
We get to enjoy flying with you as you ferry planes from the manufacturer in Canada to the States. Thank you, but that always raises the question, how do you get back to Canada? Do you fly on a commercial flight? If so, it has to be a bear getting from the small airports where you deliver to an airport major enough to have significant commercial traffic schedule. Do you have a passport from Canada or is it from the USA? You are going to fill up that passport with rubber stamps with two for each plane you deliver across the border. I have to say, yours is probably the most interesting aviation channel on the internet! Keep up the good work!! Ignore the trolls which love to discourage every interesting channel on the internet!! Please do not let them discourage you!! Keep recording! Keep editing! Keep publishing! Keep up the good work you have been doing!! Your fan base is counting on you!! T H A N K Y O U ! ! !
I'll be your passenger, Always wanted to learn how to fly
14 year military aviation service tech at CFB Cold Lake
My longest flight may have been from east of Tampa Florida to Colorado Springs. That was in an RV-6A with two-axis autopilot. I generally cruised over 10,000' to get smooth cool air and less chance of other traffic. I did have supplemental oxygen which I used often.
Great Video, inspiring to get flying. Also its interesting this loose of Layers, keeps watching the Video till end :-)))))
Is it possible to see camera view facing forward and behind you, as most RUclipsrs. It's far more interesting to see what's happening and what's ahead.
Hello Hayley, My congratulations once again on your brilliant flying by your DA 20 ferry flight across the country. You will be a successful pilot Hayley someday
If only I had a girlfriend that flew planes. Pretty chill and informative when learning cros country flying and obeying the airspace rules.
Is she a Longhorn or Aggie?
Grandpa was in Civil Air Patrol.
Uncle was my instructor.
Thanks so very much for sharing your experience and your nice trip and please keep on making your videos and as always fly safely
