    Cool. When do the cuttings get water? Should cuttings be in sun or shade to root?

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  Год назад +1

      If the plant you took the cuttings from was in Full Sun the cutting should be just fine in Full Sun. I water small unrooted cuttings every 1-2 Weeks, when the soil is dry.

    What size pot do you recommend for a totem cactus 🌵 like this ?

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  4 месяца назад +1

      A 6inch pot is big enough for the smaller cutting like in the video, but if its over a foot tall i would do a 3gallon or 5gallon pot

    Do you need to water the soil you propagate it in the pot?

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  Месяц назад

      Yes, i propagate in spring or summer and i do water them to stimulate roots, once a week. Make sure the soil is well draining.

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. The cactus will branch out, usually near the top. In this video towards the end you can see some that have the top cut off with new branches ❤️🌵

    Hi, when I put it in the pot, do I need to water it at all?

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  4 месяца назад

      When it is rooting i only water the pot a couple times a month. If it was a larger pot than in this video, or it was in the ground, i would be watering even less while rooting a cactus. Hope this helps, thanks for watching ❤️🌵

    What does it mean if they are squishy? I have a few big boys but at the base it’s wrinkled and soft?

    • @CactusUncle

    • @tylerleeger5034
      @tylerleeger5034 Год назад +1

      @@CactusUncle it’s an established cutting I propagated two years ago, I know it has roots. It’s probably 3 feet tall in a pot. I let the soil dry out and then give it a good watering but it always seems like it’s squishy wrinkly and sometimes there’s a yellowish color, I do live in Palm Springs where it’s very hot, I just don’t know what the signs mean!? Thanks for the feedback man!

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  11 месяцев назад

      Is it yellow year around? Is it yellow on the western side? The fact that its a Sonoran Desert Cactus growing in wet Florida it makes me think overwatering. Hard to say without seeing the plant though... I dont mind questions please ask away my friend! 🌵♥️

      Because I do not have a permit for shipping plants internationally I doubt I can help my friend. I think I would need a phytosanitary certificate to ship to Australia. Otherwise it would likely get picked up in customs and thrown out.

      @@CactusUncle I recently moved and it was put outside on the porch (previously on our other porch with more shade). It's Oklahoma, it's been very hot and sunny. I haven't watered it in over a month but it also rained a lot this weekend while I was gone. It's very black towards the top more than anything.

    • @CactusUncle
      @CactusUncle  11 месяцев назад +1

      If its happening at the top it makes me think some kind of damage, usually sunburn. When you moved it recently did it go from a shady low light spot to full sun? Even plants that CAN technically take full sun need to be acclimatized to the new location especially if planting in seasonal extremes (summer and winter)
