Where I live budgies cost $24.99 at pet stores. The cage I have for my two budgies, Pickles and Cloudy, cost me $60. The millet sticks cost $20 for four six inches long millet sticks...so I opt to make them homemade millet sticks using minimal Organic Raw honey and their millet seeds. My budgies love their bananas, apples, zucchini, celery stock, yellow plums, and peeled diced carrots salad. The vitamin drops you put in their purified water costs about $10-$15 where I live
omg this brings me back before i was gifted my 2 budgies i was doing budgie project one of the parts was to do cost & needs chart like this the costs here in Texas is about 30-200$ for a spacious cage, 6-20$ for food and toys, cuttlebone for 2$ and waterers/feeders for 5-10$ a budgie itself is about 15-30$ at pet stores and idk the rest because i make all their toys and i got my budgies as a planned gift
Most people only get budgies because they normally cost a little, but then they just abandon them because they didn’t know they need a good amount of money to look after the bird. Great video! 😄
In India, you can get a budgie for about 500 INR from a pet store. Cages are expensive here. For a cage of dimensions 1.5 X 1.5 X 2 feets, it costs anywhere between 2K-3K INR. Cuttle fish costs around 250 INR. Seeds costs around 200 INR per kg due to COVID lockdown. Single vet visit will cost around 600 INR excluding any medicines/scans.
i spent around $400 on a cage for my two budgies. I originally had a tabletop cage for 60 dollars, but then decided to upgrade because they are both very active and flies around their cage and my room everyday!
in Bosnia, budgie costs around 7-10 € the cage from 20 to 200 € seeds from 0.5 to 2 € (500 grams) toys are expensive, 5-30 € we don't buy perches :) I spend about 20€ monthly and every breeder is messy and they are older than 30 yrs, pet store birds are wild
In Germany, from commercial pet stores, they go for about 20€ usually but I cannot recommend that (see other comment). We got all our newer budgies from a breeder we know cares a lot for them and are easy to tame from there for about 60€ each, and this is so worth it. We paid 200€ for a used 2 meter high, 80cm wide "cage" (more like actual playground) and have 2 other smaller cages that aren't really used though. For the seeds alone it's a laughable 10-20€ a month maybe and the vegetables we buy anyw for ourselves and them which is maybe another 5-10€. The sand and other things are maybe another 5€ a month tops. They are really low maintenance compared to other pets, but definitely do take the time and ensure they're doing fine / have everything!
In my area a budgie is between 5$ and 10$ depending on the mutation With the english ones going up to 30$ A spacious cage is from 60 to 100$ A seed mix costs around 2-10$, depending on the brand for a bag Veggies and greens are relatively cheap Not even a dollar for a kilo of basic vegetables And cuttles bones are only worth a few cents (fresh and treated)
Where I live (UK) I don’t know how much budgies are, since I adopted one, but the cage was around £40-£50 and the food is about £5 (and the treats) the toys, we made at home and we found some sticks for her to throw around the cage If there’s anymore info I need to put on the comment I will edit it :>
Vet visits can get super expensive. One of my birds recently had conjunctivitis. Examinations, treatment and medicine summed up to about 120$. The same bird (he is my oldest bird so most health issues compared to the young ones) needed surgery last year. He chewed rope and swallowed the fibers which gathered up in his crop. In total this was about 715$. Adding smaller vet bills this bird was about 1000$ just for vet treatments.... The other 5 cost me less than 300$ in total combined, but most of them are still quite young (a bit less than 2 years old)
I think all budgies own you. You buy budgie: budgie bought you free. You buy for budgie: budgie have butler slave You play with budgie: budgie have entertainment You pay for budgie life: budgie live happy You let budgie live long happy life for budgie: budgie die happy *very sad emotional essay 100%*
its sometimes expensive yes, but after you bought the first few things, your bird is good for around a month. During the times i didnt have to buy my budgie something. I am working as a newspaper delivery guy. Wich gives my around 100$ per month wich spent on my budgie mostly :)
I can recommend to always get one from a private/amateur breeder *you know is treating them well* . We got our first budgies from a big pet & garden related store called "Dehner" here in Germany, and they were all traumatized for life... Impossible to tame to a high degree with any methods... We cared a lot for them but none of them lived very long. Got every other budgie since from a breeder who already gets them used to humans from their hatching and handles them with very high care. Costs 3 times the amount per budgie compared to the big store but is so so so worth it, especially as you're prolly paying more for their food within half a year anyw. These are in general healthy and friendly birds you can tame to a very high degree. You got to know and trust the breeder ofc, but I cannot recommend getting them from mass production / commercial pet stores.
waaaaaaay cheaper in my country. here you can get two budgies and a large cage for under 100 dollars food and treats are also a bit cheaper but same as u give or take
Our grandparents gave it to us as a gift, so for the cage, don’t worry the cage is big, so 260$ saved, and I make DIY toys, we take perches from our trees so yeah, around 50-100$ for checkups only and we have way more than that
Here in my country, budgies cost 5 $ also the cages are cheap even they are large. One thing I can't find are toys. But after coronavirus outbreak, we can't get the products since I started paying alot of attention on them
Hello I'm trying get myself a new budgie but should one budgie cost 50 dollars because I've visited a store called Petco and saw budgies for 50 dollars. In other words should they be that expensive or not. Or should visit another pet store.
In my country, life is pretty hard here and I gotta say, it's not easy to live here and pay to live. But I gotta say, Budgies here are so cheap!! You could littearly just get one for 0.50-2$ Only! And normal vet-checkups are mostly 3-5$! And their food is around 2$, Only problem is that most people don't understand budgies very well here, so they usually die immediately after being bought. And most stores here are awful. They usually put around 9-12 budgies in a small cage due to absence of space! But i, got 2 lovely budgies a few years ago for really cheap amount of money, from an actually good store, they are really healthy :)
No mine is 150 for 1 soooooooo ya and the cage is 130 small so we are looking for a bigger cage and we got him a friend he is happy now and the new friend is a girl they are still young about 3-mounths old the female is 3 mounths there are no toys so we are making them, about 3 right? I’m buying a new budgie soon as my last budgie flew out of the window because a friend left the window open as they didn’t realise my bird was out. I’m buying a budgie for £32.99 and the same cage as you in medium for £60 (I was going to buy the house looking cage until I saw your which cage to get video oops) and then lots of toys and bird food and be around £2 but that’s just for one type of seed and I’m excited to go looking at all the range of different seeds and food. Oh okay because last time I checked I have 7 budgies and I can’t sleep also all the budgies and cages food treats we bought for them we spended around 500$
Got 10 birds n oooofff, when i was new id buy 1 food bag n in 1 week it turned into a monthly supply of bags💀50$ for toys in a week that hopefully last 3 weeks😭 + Perch replacements if they cannot be re cleaned (like wood if its damaged etc) It can be 250$ so far plus treats…. Add in 15$-30$ for pillets, 280$ a month :) if i get lucky with them that month. Ahh n the food monthly supplys is probably 120$ so 400$* actually 🥲🥲10 birds is alot….. but its worth it when you see them happy 😇
when i saw a budgie in this video, it was hogging the food bowl but i realized, most of the food he picked up he was feeding it to the other budgie! thats so sweet aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I have 2 budgies the regular cost for a budgie in my country is 10 dollars or 7 jd the girl costed me 10 dollars but the boy was a rare blue budgie that I never seen before it costed me 120 dollars but hes a special kind of budgies and hes really friendly
Local budgie in Indonesia only cost 5usd more cheap it only birdwithout cage, if you need baby it cost range 3 usd only. And met for the food 1usd/kg realy cheap right.
This video is great! But in my country we have to pay much more. Like toys for a month is like 50$ and treats and food is like 50 to. But mabye is it just because my budgis is owning me and I dont ownd them🥲😂
In my country (Bangladesh) one budgie is around 2 dollars one big cage around 20 dollars food 1 dollar per kg but toy's are a little expensive around 3 to 5 dollars for a average quality toy
i have 4 budgies and they are almost 230-300 a month and a thats just food and toys but at the start it was just the budgie and cage was 130-140 expensive..
2 budgies and my 5foot tall by 2 foot wide cage is 161 not 260, food for 1 year is 65 dollars, treats is 8 dollars, toys is 50 dollars for natural wood purchase, toys are 45 dollars.

If you give your birds this "homemade millet" quite often, I think it should just be a very special treat as honey isn't healthy for birds😊
Most of your diet looks healthy, keep it up!
I got the millet same amount just €2 around $2-3
