i only started crocheting today, and now i have a bumpy whale sat on my desk. i cant wait to remake this is a couple months to see my progress! Quite impressed!
Had to let you know I have just made the little dolphin and it came out so cute, if I say so myself. I used dark grey and white to make him as I wanted him to be a porpoise for my husband. Night before last, at our new home in the Highlands of Scotland, we happened to look out our livingroom window and delighted to see a small pod of grey porpoise hunting. We had been in the process of unpacking but stood there for over an hour watching them catch their dinner. Came on to youtube yesterday to see if I could find a dolphin/porpoise pattern and discovered yours. I surprised hubby with it and he is so happy with it. We both want to thank you for sharing the pattern! 💙 Thank you!
Awww, wow. That's really amazing to read. Thank you for sharing your story and I'm sure your husband must be so delighted to see his own little dolphin/porpoise in yarny form!! On another note, I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the Highlands of Scotland. That's a place I'd love to visit one day!
I just love your tutorials...ty In our city we have an app where ppl who trail walk leave little gifts hidden along the trails for others to find. These cute little animals r the perfect gift. Quick, inexpensive & tons of fun for ppl of all ages to find ❤🎉
I love this pattern so much! I have made 2 of them so far and im about to crochet 3 more for my friends! Thank you for this amazing pattern they turned out really cute!❤
Hi! These are incredibly cute. I used your tutorial to make the dolphin from regular cotton yarn and it turned out very nice. It is a very easy pattern and I learned something new. The invisible color change. Thank you ❤
Wow! I've never tied off my ends by cutting the loop. I always wove the tail through the loop until it was cinched, but sometimes that leaves a little knot on the outside. This is genius!
Aww yay glad you picked up a little something from my tutorial! I havne't had any issues with the yarn coming undone, even after a wash in the laundry!
Hi from South Africa. Thank you for the lovely 3 in 1 video. I tried the whale n it turned out fantastic. I’m going to try the dolphin n narwhal next. Easy to follow along tutorial. ❤thanks again 🙏
This was an awesome tutorial. I just found your channel and have looked through your tutorials, I found quite a few I will be making. Thank you so much for your time.
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to get some yarn and try this absolutely adorable Amigurumis! It’s wonderful you can make 3 from 1 pattern with minor modifications. I love the no sew style of attaching the fins, tail and horn! So much easier the way you show…❤😊
These are absolutely perfect and adorable!! IMHO, you could use your pattern to make 4 different animals,2 dolphin types and your 2 whale types... the other dolphin type would be the Orca/Killer whale! Even though it's nickname says it's a whale, it is actually a breed of dolphin. You would use black and white yarn for the top and bottom, and black for the upper fin, but modify that to bit a bit taller than the dolphin fin. Then add some white yarn in one or two places on both sides of the Orca. As those white markings differentiate each Orca from another, you can be somewhat random with where you place the markings which should be identical and looking and spaced similarly on both sides of the body and there you go, you have an Orca as well!!!
Thank you so much for the step by step tutorial! But I have a question, why do we leave the last 3 stitches unformed? Mine turned out wonky 😂 Also… what does back loops only do?
Thanks and going by the pattern will allow you to put the tail centered in the back of the body. The BLO helps produce a differentiation between the belly and the upper body (the unworked front loop will look like a line going across the two parts).
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This was my first ever time crocheting and it looks quite decent - not exactly like yours, but I'm just gonna keep trying!
it's absolutely gorgeous!! i'm only left with the tail now, although it didn't turn out perfect and the gap between the eyes is a lil too big, the whale is still very cute:> the tutorial is incredibly detailed and ur voice is super calming -3 thanks a lot for sharing this pattern:)
For row 8, I 32 stitches so I was doing good until I did row 9 in white and at the end of the row I only had 31 stitches. I have redone the row about 3 times and I cannot figure out what I have done. If anyones has any suggestions pleeeeease help.
I would like to learn this pattern. Could you please tell me exactly what size the yarn is.....a #5,6 or 7 bulky? Thank you. Your little amigurumis are so cute. Tfs
Hello, I've been looking for a tutorial on how to make a large version of a whale, so as to be able to hug it. Do you know what the measurements would be to make it?
Hmmm you might need to use a diff pattern to make it a huggable size! I think mine would be too small as it already uses super bulky weight yarn and comes out to be palm sized. Sorry about that!
Hey! Im a beginner but ive knitted before, when using my chunky yarn (type 7 haha) i found it hard to see where to put the hook in the spaces any tips?
Hey, I'm just confused with row 7 leaving 3 stitches unworked, I've done this crochet twice and my whale always has a loop sided, if I did work in thoes 3 stitches would it be more straight? Also thank you for your amazing videos, I recently purchased some of your patterns as a thank you for helping me learn so much.
Hi! Sorry, just catching up with comments now and seeing this. The 3 sts unworked is supposed to make you finish at the very back/center of the whale. With the natural progression of where we start teh rounds and with the inc/dec, that is where the color change would end up, but if that's not happening with you, just work those last 3 sts so that you end up at teh center-back of the whale! :) Hope this helps....thanks so much for supporting me by getting the patttern, and I'm so sorry I didn't see your comment sooner! If you need help, feel free to reach out to me via email or on Etsy messages (if that's where you got the pattern) or on Payhip contact-me form!
Glad you like it! You can make a bigger version using the saem exact pattern instructions by either using thicker yarn and a larger hook, OR by holding yarn doubled (crochet with two strands at the same time) and a larger hook.
The last 3 sts of the 5th round is: inc, inc, sc. I put 2 sc in the third-to-last st, 2 sc in the second-to-last st, and 1 sc in the last st. Hope this helps!
I’m trying to make the nose for the dolphin and I can’t quite figure out which “same stitch” I’m going into. Would that be the chain done after we pulled the yarn through, or would it be the stitch on the main body we attached it to?
Do you mean the magic ring start? (In this case the 8 sc). This means you probably crochet uneven or too tight, for my feeling you could try the magic ring method (look it up on yt its real easy) or maybe you skipped the increases. Another problem could be the way you make your single crochets, maybe you dont loop the second time? Hopefully this is helpful! I dont know if youre a beginner or not so..

Yes! Just add the dolphin fin, but not the nose! You can sew/embroider a black line for the mouth at the front, and maybe add a white sharp tooth sticking out from the side!
Exciting news! A CROCHET KIT for this pattern is available: yarnsea.com/en/project/2121/flipper-friends-amigurumi

Thanks! So happy you like it!
i love these
Thank you!!
I can work with this type of yarn as I can't see the stitches clearly. But I love the fluffyness of the yarn.
Try putting stitch markers in each stitch of your magic ring until you learn how to find them. That’s how I learned
So dang cute
So glad you like it! Thank you so much!
Love it

Would the pattern still work if we replace the thick yarn with thin yarn instead? :)
Yep! It'll just turn out smaller!
Yes 😊
It sure will
Yea it would ❤
You might need to add a few more rows from my experience, once you understand the pattern, it's really easy 🤭🤭
so cuteee ♡♡♡ gonna try later
Yay, hope you'll have lots of fun with it!!
Hiii how are you ! You inspired me to much😊I really want to do this so I wanna know were you get your supplies from❤
Thank you so much! That's so awesome to hear. The materials I used for this pattern are linked in the description box!
Can you make an orca whale pretty please! I am not sure how to do the white patches on the side of their faces . Thank you
That sounds awesome! I haven't tried it before but will put it on my long list of video ideas!
super good tut!! but what was the purpose of making the fake stich when doing the invisible color change?
I would like to learn this pattern. Could you please tell me exactly what size the yarn is.....a #5,6 or 7 bulky? Thank you. Your little amigurumis are so cute. Tfs
I used a weight 6 yarn, it's in the description box if you want to see! :)

i just wanted to let you know that the pattern page is for your tiny octo and not the whale. i have already saved both 🥰
Oh, good catch!! Yikes, I will update it now!
Is it possible to start with a magic ring of 8 stitches instead of the 8 stitches in the 2nd chain?
Yes, you can do that!
Cann you also make it with one coulour? Or does it has to be two?
You can definitely just stick with the same color!
So if i dont want to change color do i just continue normally or what do i do 😭
Can i make this with thin yarn and a 4.5mm hook?
You can make it iwth thinner yarn, but I recommend a smaller hook than that! With medium yarn, I'd use a 2.75mm hook.
Hey! Im a beginner but ive knitted before, when using my chunky yarn (type 7 haha) i found it hard to see where to put the hook in the spaces any tips?
❤❤❤

I just created the ugliest and lumpiest whale but that’s okay bc this is my first project 😂
It's okay, you did it!!! A yarny whale was born! And guess what, the next time you make it, I'm sure it'll turn out less lumpy!
I love this tutorial. It’s easy to follow along. If I wanted to make a larger version do I have to change the pattern?
Glad you like it! You can make a bigger version using the saem exact pattern instructions by either using thicker yarn and a larger hook, OR by holding yarn doubled (crochet with two strands at the same time) and a larger hook.
You put 4 single chrochets in one stich at the end of the 5th round? Im kind of like a beginner and im confused xdd
The last 3 sts of the 5th round is: inc, inc, sc.
I put 2 sc in the third-to-last st, 2 sc in the second-to-last st, and 1 sc in the last st. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for answering! Ive done it already, and it turned out so pretty and so cute! Thank you for the tutorial
Yay happy to hear that!!
I’m trying to make the nose for the dolphin and I can’t quite figure out which “same stitch” I’m going into. Would that be the chain done after we pulled the yarn through, or would it be the stitch on the main body we attached it to?
It'd be the st on the main body!
I'm having the same problem. completely messed up the nose
Hello sweetie on R5 should it be sc 24 , 2 Inc (28)
Never mind I didn't hear the sc at the end I was reading the titles lol
Can this be adapted to create a shark?
YOu can do that! Just make the back fin! :)
I’d anyone couldn’t figure out how to do the side Finn’s this is what I did
Chain 4

NEXT STITCH
1Dc
1sc
Slip stitch
Sorry this is not written good
What is the total stitch count for r7?
15:15
Can I pls use one colour
Yes you can do that!
Can u make it much bigger??!
You can hold yarn doubled to make it much bigger!
Can someone explain to me why my crochet always has a pointy top?
Do you mean the magic ring start? (In this case the 8 sc).
This means you probably crochet uneven or too tight, for my feeling you could try the magic ring method (look it up on yt its real easy) or maybe you skipped the increases.
Another problem could be the way you make your single crochets, maybe you dont loop the second time? Hopefully this is helpful! I dont know if youre a beginner or not so..
@@Kalimbarima thank you
did you use all 100g of yarn?
No, this uses very little yarn! You can make quite a few of tehse whales with 100g!
@@SweetSofties thank you so much!!
How much you charge for one at a craft fair
What’s the weight of the yarn, like what’s the size 🥹
It's super bulky weight 6 yarn!
How can we start but with a magic ring?
Just use the MR but insert 8 sc into the MR! :)
can I get the pattern?
Yes, you can find it linked in the description box! :)
Hello how can i make this bigger 😢
Hi, here's an easy way! You can make a bigger version using the saem exact pattern instructions by either using thicker yarn and a larger hook, OR by holding yarn doubled (crochet with two strands at the same time) and a larger hook.
I need help to make one more bigger
This is urgent can u help me with a nother video
You can hold yarn doubled and use a larger hook, then follow the same pattern :)
In round 3 you can not get to 24 from 16. Something is wrong
"(Sc, inc) x 8" will bring you from 16 to 24! :)
wait but i dont wanna chnage colour what fo i fo
I'm just gonna finish round 7 with sc then do the round 8 hopefully it's okay- I'll update for anyone else who only has one colour
I think it looks fine
Thanks
it’s
You don't have to change color for the belly! You can make it one solid color all the way through! :)
row nine was so confusing to me
Could this be turned into a shark?
Yes! Just add the dolphin fin, but not the nose! You can sew/embroider a black line for the mouth at the front, and maybe add a white sharp tooth sticking out from the side!
do have a written pattern for this pls
Hi, I have written instructions available as a PDF download here: payhip.com/b/PNlcU
