Thanks. Seriously considering upgrading my 1654 w/25merc to the 1860CC w/ a 90/65 jet Mercury. Been watching your videos and a few others over and over to help. Appreciate you getting back to me.
Been running my 2006 G3 1860 cc with 50hp yamaha since new and have got it up to 28 mph on smooth river water. I've owned plenty of boats including one that cost as much as my house and the 1860 cc is the one I kept and its been problem free from the start and I've put several hundred hours on it. Great boats.
My in law has the old style 1860 Grizzly (before 2015 or so) with the same engine and it does do pretty well for a 60. I own the new style with the 90 and I am getting between 40 and 43 or so depending on load. Good boats! I love the low maintenance.
That was a very helpful video, thank you! I am considering purchasing a 2020 Lowe L1852MT Aura 18 foot Jon Boat, and a Suzuki 60hp for camping, fishing, running around on the calm parts of the Colorado River (there is a 100 mile stretch that is calm, no rapids, and has lots of sandbars to camp on). I really wanted to see the speed of a 18 foot Jon with 60hp pushing it, and your video was awesome in showing me that. Thanks!!!
30-35 mph is all I got in the boat I had . It was plenty of speed to get around on smaller inland lakes. If I get a mod-v Jon I'll be happy with 25-30 to be honest. If money was no object I would want a larger boat that would do around 55 mph but you don't really need it.
I got similar speed with my 1860 with a 60 on it. I grew to dislike my 1860 CC Grizzly because the center console and seat/livewell took up too much space. Just not open enough. Otherwise great boat!
To be honest I’m not real sure of the pitch, but I am running the 3 blade prop right now. There is a 4 blade prop call the spot fire I read some pretty good things about but just haven’t got one due to the one I have now does just fine.
What size prop and pitch are you using? If you look in the hub it will tell you. I’ve got a Lowe Roughneck 1860 with a 60hp Mercury Command Thrust, the prop I have on has a 13” diameter and a 17 pitch and I’m only getting 25-26mph with a 4 blade spitfire prop. With the 3 blade I was getting 28 mph but it took forever to get on plane.
I wanna day the diameter is 10 3/8” and pitch is 14. Mine gets on plane quickly. Mine also has the pods on the back which helps also. Does the Lowe have the pods?
Yup I I have the pods as well. I also have the heavy duty hull which is thicker than the standard. (Thicker than the Grizzly) my old 1448 Grizzly with a 25 hp was getting 25 mph out of it with no load and just me and the dog in the boat.
A full tank is 19 gallons, you would have to ride all day to burn a full tank lol I might only burn a few gallons when I go out fishing. Not sure how many miles though.
I habe the same boat with the 90 on it and on a perfect day trimmed out i can get right around 41-42 with just me with the boat loaded with everything right at around 38 - 40
What size is your fuel cell? And how long will the tank run you? Personally I dont care about speed, I want to make long runs to drop crab pots and then troll all day
Still very happy with the grizzly! Just added a 55lb thrust minn Kota trolling motor which does great. The 60 mercury pushes the boat great but if I would have been able to at the time I would have added the 75 mercury.
Awesome video, I’m interested in getting one of these boats. How does this rig handle semi rough water / heavy chop that can be found on a Big Lake. I live on the Gulf Coast and do some saltwater fishing in The Marshes and Big Lake, it’s a SaltWater Lake.
It handles very well in my opinion. I’ve taken it in the pamlico sound in NC and some bigger lakes around here and when it’s rough or choppy it does well for me!
FURREVER OUTDOORS Thanks for the information. Are you from North Carolina,? I’m originally from North Carolina, a little town called Laurel Hill. It’s about 20 minutes from Rockingham. I live in Louisiana now, I was in the Army. I hope to move back home one of these days.

They are both very solid boats. The only thing about a Alweld is they only have a 9 gallon gas tank, and no storage. The front decks are small on them but it gives you more room inside the boat. The prices are pretty close too.
