    I watched your video earlier today and had to return back to drop this comment. I have p44 and like the clipper but have been reaching for other clippers recently. P44 did EXACTLY as I needed it to do to make that 808 pop on a mix I just finished.
    I understand that clipping in general will get it there but I really gelled with the p44 today. Going to start implementing it on my 808’s and synth basses.
    I was struggling with getting the low end to translate on a mix yesterday so to have solved that with something I already had, Ima happy camper.

    Great video. Thank you. P44 Magnum got an update and now it features a knee control for soft clipping. You can get new coloration and clipper action out of P44.
    When using clipper on low frequency content, it's important to listen very closely and have the level compensated for the evaluation. Adding distortion to the low end affects the punch - reduces it, hence finding a good sweetspot is essential. Enjoy Magnum. 🎉

    P44 is dope! I love how you set up your sub groups. I set up my sub groups similar. Lately I’ve been using knock from Decap on my drum bus to dial in my transients. P44 on my all drums. The Jason Joshua NLS trick on drums is a cheat code too. Your track is Fire! Appreciate you sharing the jewels you dropped.

I don’t use it as much but that’s only because I already had things that did each of those processes well. Jaycen Joshua is a great one! @@WhoIsAlexElliott I understand. I caught the NLS on the Christmas Sale for $29 US. I don’t have the subscription but I use waves studio verse and swap out comparable plugins I have with the signal chains they have listed for studio Rack. I’m on multiple DAWS so studio rack has been helpful in being consistent across platforms. Logic is Dope and very good in recording and mixing. I produce in FL studio and MPC Beats as a VST for the MPCx, but I mix and record vox in Luna. Switched from tracking and mixing in Protools because I’m fed up with subscriptions. If my razor laptop plays out I’m going to switch back to a Mac and get back to using logic again.

    Cool video, I agree thatmany times depending of the material is best to have the kick drum out of thedrum bus..... but this is my 2Cents, Clipping is a new technique, and mixing engineers in the past and today achieve great mixes with amazing lowend without Clipping anything, so even tho this can be a cool technique, I do not think is the secret or Holy grail to achieve a great low end, and actually if you are able to achieve a great lowend without clipping, most likely for you will be even better if in top of that you apply your clipping technique....

    Nice. I guess this kinda lends to the track you have already having a kinda square wave base. If you had like a pure sine sub I expect it'd start to turn your sub into more of a square wave base if it's pushed too far. All in moderation though I guess! Awesome tut! Subbed. Also that tune's a banger mate.

    • @WhoIsAlexElliott

      To further explain he said. “Updated Oomph and Poomph circuit update to preserve the transients of the original signal” I’m guessing he did this by no longer having the hi pass filter and just having the peak at the frequency. • @WhoIsAlexElliott
      @WhoIsAlexElliott  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@tylergameplayroom ok so two things.
      1.The solution: Turn the level of the drums going into the drum bus down (Do this Pre fader, clip gain the region, or add a gain plug in prior to the P44). Then after that use the P44 & turn up the input drive and saturation knob to taste. Also make sure the oversampling is set to “HD” (it’s in the bottom left area, are called “OS”).
      2.The Possible Problem: The most important & often overlooked point in the video is taking the kick drum out of the drum bus. If your using drum loops with the kick drum in it then this will be more challenging to mix in general because you don’t have the same control as you would mixing individual drum parts.
      This is because a kick drum has much more power & low end energy than the snare, hi hats or percussion. It will drive any saturation or clipper to distort much quicker. Which is why I take the kick drum out of my drum bus & instead add it to a Kick and Bass bus. 👌
