      I cant agree more. Even the leaked maps from pre release have intense features that were retained with tons of inspiration for player lore theories, like the crack in the earth next to the giants forge and the forbidden lands.
      Shout out to the BEAUTIFUL scadutree, meant to be two trees(lovers) embracing(hugging each other).

      Exactly. Elden Ring is one of the few games where the finished product looks as wonderful as the concept art. Most games I look at the concept art and I'm like "Why does this look SO much better here?". Elden Ring really has that painting-like quality

    Most other big games throw huge amounts of money into making their games a 1 to 1 with real life, only for almost all of them to feel aesthetically hollow.
    From, on the other hand, simply opts for passably good graphics, but saves no expense in making you feel like you’re exploring a medieval fantasy surrealist dreamscape painting. The resulting level of art direction completely blows any other AAA studio out of the water

      So many games advertise their graphics as a selling point. "Look at this water! It has simulated waves!" meanwhile the simulated people are moonwalking through walls and getting stuck on rocks.

      Same deal for Elder Scrolls games. The actual graphics of all of them have aged like milk, but the art styles of those games more than compensates for it

      The thing is, in my opinion, because of the sheer scope and creativity of the designs and skyboxes and everything, it ultimately looks much better graphically to me then the other AAA games

      The idea that FromSoftware makes conscious decisions to aim for passable graphics is so hilariously wrong and backwards. If they aim for passably good graphics, performance wouldn't be a huge blemish on almost all of their games - yet it is. There is no trade-off to speak of here, no excuse that explains why both graphics and performance have to suffer. Their games look good in their own way (art direction does all of the heavy lifting), yet run worse than most AAA studio games.
      The mediocre graphical fidelity and poor performance in their games can only be attributed to incompetence. FromSoftware doesn't ''opt'' for passably good graphics - this is literally the best they can do. Their engine is only slightly iterated upon with every game, and it's always the bare minimum. The whole thing is held together by duct-tape and glue - a giant disservice to their incredible games. And with Japanese developers generally being very archaic, it's unlikely From will ever meaningfully overhaul their engine or switch to a much better one.

    Is overall incredible how accurate they were with the concept art translation. Almost makes me try the First Person mod just to appreciate it much better, looks gorgeous.

      I am using the FoV mod & I couldn’t be happier, didn’t drastically increase it, I only did it in moderate amounts, it transforms some of the sceneries.
      The art direction in DLC is something else, it lifted FromSoft to another level of artistry & creativity, it’s crazy! Then there’s someone that said the DLC “lacks creativity.” 😭😭💀

      finlay betrayed Malenia upon taking her to the haligtree after jerren started making highly innacurate fanart of her and malenia and sending it to everyone in the lands between so as to destroy malenias image. That was not before finlay was borrowing mohgs ass cheeks and rannis hair strand to do a roast battle with bernhal, vagram, Gideon, Alexander alongside ansbach, varre, lannseax until midra was paid by patches to transform into a frenzy powered armored core. To witness the destruction, patches invited master Wilhelm, Sekiro to try out the device but Sekiro died of shock and wilheim t posed, ascending into the skies and meeting goldmask
      After the battle of aeonia, castellan of redmane castle jerren swore revenge against Malenia for driving his master Radahn insane. The heavily injured Jerren who was about to pass out watched as finlay carried Malenia out of caelid, cursing them but was helpless given finlay was ranni extremely fast. However He had a plan to destroy malenias image. He paid his former enemy Seluvis. The plan was to have Seluvis, a master of lore inaccurate fanartd draw highly lore.. inaccurate fanart of malenia and finlay which would make Malenia seem like a massive piece of shit that is only good for reproduction. Also the fanart would depict vleanrot knights looking human which is something miquella has denied since the formation of the haligtree. To depict finlay a cleanort knight looking human would just give the message that miquella is a liar and his age is a scam. Jerren hired patcehs to introduce tech so jerren could cancel Malenia online. Finlay on the way to the haligtree was kicked by patches who promised 100000000 runes to participate in a roast tournament. Finlay was loyal to Malenia but money was more important to her. Finlay with 100000000 Trina lilies from patches gave them to the unconscious Malenia to make her stay unconscious for 24h. Finlay to do the roast battle proceeded to borrow mohgs ass cheeks which mog regenerated and rannis hair which she used to make a machine gun with some of malenias skin(numen skin can graft stuff). The roast battle involved bernhal, vagram, Gideon, Alexander alongside ansbach varre, lannseax. Finlay won it after 13 hours. Patches reveals the entire roast tournament is a scam and he won't be rewarding the winner. Patches pays midra to transform onto a frenzy powered armoured core Which he uses to destroy all of limgrave. This happened because Jerren paid patches 3478494 trillion runes. Patches had Wilhelm and Sekiro shows up to try out the device and witness the destruction. Sekiro was the shocked to death by a lighting which struck him. Master Wilhelm used mods to ascend into the skies but he met goldmask and they both t posed. Patches within 4 hours distributed technology and internet to the entire lands between. Finlay returned Malenia to the haligtree. By the time she returned she realised that everyone had a lore innacurate view of her and malenia. Thinking Malenia was behind this (finlay is dumb) finlay killed malenia but not before gwyndolin shot her to death using a missile launcher. Bernhal who had used the zip glitch and ended up in the haligtree questioned why gwyndolin is here if Aldrich ate him in DS3. Patches explains that time is convoluted in the lands between. MichAl zaki shows up and beats patches to death. Patches is not surprised given the entire situation was caused by his timeline alterations. Patches lets Michael kills him. Michael undoes the events of this entire parody and patches awakes in murkwater cave in the present like nothing happened. many years ago, finlay took Malenia to the haligtree. Patches time travelled and showed up and claimed that malenia made lore.innacurate fanart of malenia and finlay. This angered finlay who decided to betray malenia. This time instead of killing Malena, malenia awoke as finlay stabbed jer she did not receive the large dosage Trina lilies who caused her to be unconscious for 24h in the erased events. Malenia killed finlay, Finlay's dying words saying that malenia will pay for that terrible faner and asked morgott to do something about it because she thought she paid morgott to protect her(she didn't she halluctanted it because she drank some of the godrick brand orange juice on the way to the haligtree). Malenia asked morgott to explain this and morgott asked hewg to do some spirit tuning on finlayz Turing finlay into a spirit summon.

    Every Elden Ring frame in the open world area (and some inside dungeons also) might as well be a painting and that is peak artistical direction (it would be a shame if they did not get this award in TGA). Great graphics could not accomplish that alone!

    They are getting impressively close to the art, wow. If you look at concept art for DS1 or 2, they got the most important elements, but many details are left out (obviously), here they can replicate even smaller details. I knew it as soon as I entered the hidden 3rd finger ruins that the entire area is straight out of concept art, replicated exactly as the artist drew it. Great job.

      Fromsoft is probably cooking on 4 different projects right now.. ac6.5 or ac7 is one of them.

    Having recently played DS1, I noticed the huge plate where the sap drops on looks like a giant lordvessel, and also in front of a huge doorway. Like a bigger version of DS1's lordvesel and doorway to the Kiln of the First Flame.

    That the Scaduview Basin has its own art, yet so little in-game usage and lore… Maybe there was meant to be more there, or maybe they just thought it looked cool lol. Beautiful art and game, thanks for these comparisons, cheers!

    ok, the finger ruins concept art looks exactly like the godskin incantation seal, and marika's statue looks even closer in concept art to the rune of death than it does in the base game. also, i think i finally understood why the scadutree chalice has nothing in it. judging by the concept art, the main feeling they wanted to convey is "abandonment", and since there's no more sap from the erdtree, the chalice used to gather sap has been thrown in the land of shadows, as a remnant of a now forgotten age. it's a reminder to the fading glory of the golden order.

      Rather than being thrown away, I'm pretty sure this *was* the vessel that would catch the sap of the Erdtree originally, in the same place it always was. I don't think there's any reason to think otherwise, considering we already know that the Shadow Lands were once a part of the Lands Between (thus overlapping with the land of the Erdtree), and the Shadow Keep was stationed by Marika's family.
      Oh, also. Not only does it look like the Godskin Incantation Seal, it also looks like Metyr's face.

    Base game graphic after 3rd playthroughs doesn't hit as hard as the first time.
    The DLC on the other hand is peak and will always be peak.

    I always said that elden ring looks like a painting, which makes me wonder was that meant to be the girl's painting from ds3 was it the world of elden ring? After all the world was created by fire and the blood of the dark soul so its as if it was created with the DNA of dark souls series in a way which perfectly suits elden ring

      ERTool, has freecam, teleport, no death, game speed, etc... Not sure if this is the same program BonfireVN uses, but this is a program you can use for that
