I have a bungee wrapped around the "console" and the other hook holds the velke so I can back up without issue on my Scag 48 belt driven. Old Scags are beasts.

Watching the end of this when you do the downloads, knowing that you use the paintball marker to market length. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier. To do your marketing, can you with the paint marker as you're adding each layer to your long log pile? And that way, whether it's the next day or the next week or down the road when you take logs over to the staging area to cut up to lengths.By this splitter, everything is already marked.Maybe the paint don't lie so long just wondering

Great job, Eastonmade splitter with conveyor makes quick work of the rounds. By the way what are you or your fireplace customer's preferred max diameter splits? I got a 12-22 eastonmade with the 7 way box wedge and a few splits are a little too big for my older customers. I am having to resplit some of the larger oak pieces which come out around 4" wide by 4" high. I am shooting for 3"tall by 3" wide by 16" long. Thanks

I don’t use the mingo but when you get loads in like that is it worth marking them then and then stacking them? You might be able to mark a bunch right off the bat before getting in the excavator. Just an idea, might not save time. Thx!

I’ve tried that but you can’t always guarantee that the marks will be facing up once you go to cut the log weeks/months later. Also the bark usually falls off over time.

That crash you talked about at the start of the video, the owner of the car involved will be hit with a big hike in their insurance

An insurance hike would be the least of my worries if I was the one that caused that accident and 20 million dollars of bridge damage 😂

That mower looks like it works really great for you!
With the hours you put on it, have you ever checked valve lash?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  4 месяца назад +1

Yeah the scag works great for my hilly property, I have not checked for valve lash nor do I really know is what that is 🤣

@DudeRanchDIY 😆. It's actually really easy/simple. If you do your own maintenance on the machine you can check this too. Google it for your engine and you will likely find videos on how to do it.
In short: it's a measurement of clearance between the rocker arm and valve stem. Usually measured with feeler guages.(0.020) or so).
In my experience, most small engines have it listed for service around 250-300 hours.
It can help your engine live longer. And if adjustments are needed you might find it runs with a little more power and also quieter

@FirewoodInTheField-mb4ss oh I have definitely checked valve clearance before on different machines, however, I have not checked it on this machine.

@DudeRanchDIY gotcha. In my.neck of the woods we call it valve lash, but yea.. clearance is a more accurate word.
Thanks for the engagement in the comments. As always, really enjoying the content you guys make!

For your safety… don’t rev up the lawn mower when you are trying to get it out of the building. It will be safer at an idle speed.

You have to rev it up for the choke.
