What was amazing about those NBA pick up games in the 80's and 90's is there was an incredible word-of-mouth network associated with those games. Men who saw the games would share what they saw with their kin and friends, who would do the same. So you'd be in Chicago or Phlly talking about the games Magic refer to even though none of the people in those cities had actually seen the games.
