Kareem is the greatest big of all time due to his sustained prime, from age 18 to 40. Hakeem didn't reach his peak until the early 90s, and started to slow down by 1996. But he's still ahead of Shaq and Timmy, #10 on my GOAT list, and one of my all-time favorite players.

    • @fletchbundy
      @fletchbundy 24 дня назад +11

I refuse to fault anyone for having Kareem as their best but try to have a better argument. Hakeem played 18 seasons to Kareem's 20. Hakeem was a double-doublr machine from his rookie year for about 13 of his seasons. Faulting him for health is absurd. Hakeem didn't have one if the greatest players of all time, top 5, as his partner for half his career. Hakeem was a better defender, especially rim. Shot a better percentage & Kareem's production started to fall around the same amount of years as Hakeem's while being on a loaded Lakers while Hakeem had to carry Houston alone more than a decade of his 18.

It's very hard to argue who is the "greatest" big of all time due to so many factors, but I think it's always been pretty easy to declare Dream the most skilled big man of all time. Kareem is right there with him, but Dream's footwork was just something no center could replicate.

    • @user-xn3sz3pl9n
      @user-xn3sz3pl9n 22 дня назад

      You have that backwards.
Wilt Chamberlain is easily the best ever.
      Most skilled?
      How do you judge skilled?
I have stats you have your opinion.
And one thing to consider I don't think anyone who didn't play basketball until 17 i believe, is more skilled than other professionals playing it their whole lives.
He is my favorite center of all time but I don't think of him passing the ball or hitting an outside jumper when I picture him playing.
      Do you?
Then how can he be the most skilled?
Moses was playing professionally when he was 17 and he was the man who taught Akeem how to play the low post.
He must have had some skills.

    • @user-xn3sz3pl9n

You could easily make the argument that Arvidas Sabonis had more skill.

      Fadeaway jumper
      Hook shot
      Spin moves
      Crossover
      Handles
      Footwork
      Dream Shake with counters
      Good Freethrow shooter
      Decent at Assists
      Elite Shot Blocker
      Rebounder
Only center in top 10 Ever at Steals
      Post Defense
Can guard Perimeter players in spurts and blocked 3 point shots
Arguably one of the greatest two way players ever
Showed the ability to hit the 3 ( even if he didn't use it much)
His skill on both sides of the ball will place him in the conversation as most skilled Center Ever....even if your opinion is different

The Rockets turned out to be a surprisingly strong playoff opponent, but the biggest key to their success was a 2nd-year pro, Akeem Olajuwon. After that season, many analysts thought Houston was about to take over the conference for years to come. Unfortunately, they couldn’t duplicate the success of that year.

Another one of older school legends the young folk don't about, the Dream was the most annoying to deal with even on the videogames back in the day lol if you played against Houston you know.

Hakeem was a beast, his game during his prime was unmatched, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing couldn’t guard him and the all forever what if Jordan hasn’t retired after the first 3 peat …. Would MJ have been handed his 1st and 2nd finals loss

The most skilled center of all time by a landslide. 3rd greatest of his position, only behind Kareem and Wilt.

Only big that can rival Hakeem's footwork was Kevin MacHale. The latter has more moves but both were effective.

Not enough credit is given to Richard Mills for putting him on the Nigerian junior team and Guy Lewis at UH and Carroll Dawson for helping convert his soccer footwork to fundamental basketball footwork.
