I found it better to have the original starter rebuilt then an aftermarket starter. I use only oem parts, been driving my 1988 3.0 4×4 now for 33 years. Good video thank you for posting.
Great video! I own a 1993 and have had a few issues lately, I have approx. 190,000 on my truck. I will look into these areas you have pointed out. Thanks, BTW, RUclips Garage mechanics are better than Dealership Mechanics, hands down! Keep it real brother.
Weak fuel pressure on the rail at start up. 1. Bad fuel pressure regulator 2. Bad or leaking injector/o ring 3. Weak fuel pump from old age and ethanol exposure... Assuming the intake and vaccume system are air tight. Check the fuel pressure on the rail at any means possible. Usually brass fitting inline with the rail. Good luck
I got a 91 4runner, same motor. It has starting issues, just sometimes doesn’t even crank/make a noise or turn over, I replaced the starter, nothing. I’m really hoping this helps. Thanks so much for the video man
My 91 is having a hard time starting as well. I may have to try the mass airflow sensor. I figured it was a lack of fuel pressure being applied when I turn the ignition.
I’m having idling issues and don’t know whether it’s the maf/afm or the distributor and timing. My car will turn on fine on a cold start, but if I drive it around and come back to it 15-20-30 minutes later It stumbles to start. I tried adjusting idle, and nothing , replace the TPS and the problem keeps occurring.
Lmao I have changed the battery, checked for spark and fuel and made sure it was timing right , rotated the distributor different ways - only made it worse I finally took it to a toyota specialist in hope's they would be able to tell me what was going on He threw on a 3.o MAF on and it improved a little I put a muffler back on , and it improved some (believe it or not I know I know yadda yadda yadda) If only it was an easy solution
My 1993 T100 just cut 0ff ( 🤔 though it was alternator & After New Battery& Alternator Going next to possibly the Fuel pump) Does anyone know where it is on this beast !!??
Great video and explanation. I have a starting issue with no crank 1990 Toyota V6 3.0. Im looking for the starter solenoid or a starter relay on my vehicle to diagnose. I was removing High Side or liquid line on my air conditioning system and for some reason after removing my battery and carefully working the aluminum line out to do the repair I did something wrong. It just wont crank now to finish putting in my refrigerant/charging my system. Do you know of any videos that relate to the location of starter solenoid or starter relay( not sure if I have both or just one) and their locations to diagnose the issue? And possibly how the wiring runs and what it looks like such as color of wires? Thanks for the help Apocalypse.
I’d like to add if I can go back to making this video that replacing the cold start injector was a humongous help to starting my truck. I checked it electronically by hooking up two wires to it to force it to come on forcing the engine to thinking it was cold and wallah no fuel spewed out … So kinda narrowed it down to what was going wrong whenever my truck was cold…
Same truck except my issue isn't as simple 🙃 but it is a toyota they are either easy fixes or a issue like I have that is just why won't you stay running you have spark and fuel and air but why won't you stay running. I've replaced the same parts except the airflow meter/sensor plus fuel pump, pressure regulator. Had ecu gone through and still same issue might run 15 minutes or 4 hrs then it dies and won't start back if it does its running on maybe 2 or 3 cylinders and then dies out again. Yes it still has spark. I'm stumped on this truck 🤬 ready to watch it burn to the ground 😂
You can buy them from Autozones website but I highly recommend you don’t , they are remanufactured junk. I went to a Toyota specialist here in Fresno California, and bought one off of him he had a whole drawer filled with them LMAO… Best case scenario if you’re not located in the 559, go to a junkyard and try to find one off of the existing toilet out their chances are the MAF is still fine
@@apocalypse__6257 I live in Fresno and currently on my third no start was running perfect yesterday todsy no start was the rotor and distributor cap last time and then it was the battery now it just no start mechanic nearby told me to smack my fuel pump that worked once a while back when I first had it now it doesn’t where is the specialist located?
@@kevinguillen6495 also from Fresno… my 94 wouldn’t crank, replaced the starter same issue, added an old ford solenoid lasted like 3/4 weeks and again no crank. but after it does crank has issues starting, Then after that starts right up no issues…

I ordered that Mass air flow sensor off amazon, and got it next day for 99$ auto part stores said 5 days to 5 weeks.
Nice truck buddy. they last forever. I have a 1990 toyota pickup

I’m having the same exact problem, let me know if something worked for you please
Gap is.32 the .44 was common in high performance engines and inline 6 such as the ford 300, hemis etc
check battery! after checking battery check for spark & fuel. if not move to timing, distributor side and timing belt side!
also dont replace parts not needed you could creat more problems like that and go oem DONT GO AFTERMARTET FOR ENGINE COMPONENTS !

Beautiful truck man. Still got it? Wanna sell it to a diehard car guy with a loving home/garage?
