I have expressed a whole new concept to Elon when it comes to the semi. THE MOTORHOME industry!! Pulling those big 5th Wheel Trailers. Or just regular Camping Trailers. I'm hoping to get on the list.
No. Clients will have their own people trained, smaller companies will use Tesla service people. EV vehicles have fewer moving parts and Tesla have mobile mechanics if needed. Pepsi been using 21 semi in real world and had no major issues
What the heck are you talking about “shipping companies rarely use full capacity at 80,000lbs” I have been driving for 21years especially Pepsi products require 44,000lbs haul loads. If your average truck is weighing about 36,000lbs (empty) the electric truck is about 8,000lbs heavier, so shipping companies can only use 36,000lbs of usable load which is unprofitable and impossible. For example you make 6,000$ on the 44,000lbs load and at the end of the day there is only some percentage of profit out of 6k and if you have less load you’ll be paid less
Semi weighs about 3000 lbs more than diesel but government change rules so max limit for EV semi + trailer and load is 82,000 lbs. Most trucks are trucking 67-75,000 lbs
It only takes 30 minutes to fully charge a Tesla truck, but the cost you pay for each refueling will make you want to replace your diesel truck quickly.
Tesla has announced that it will produce large quantities of these electric trucks within 2 years, but for now the manufacturer is focusing on small quantities.
A trailer should _NEVER_ have it's own propulsion. It will cause the truck to jackknife in slick conditions. There's no real benefit for all the drawbacks, either.
Each Semi neads a swappable battery and an extra battery. The truck is a great thing for city / Short Haul. Its weeknes is wheight Range and cold weather. For Heavy Hauling 60k to 80k pounds a multi speed transmission will be needed?
Fascinating to see the work done by Tesla to develop and produce the Semi Truck. However, I am surprised about the PepsiCo case and focus, while customers for heavy trucks have very different requirements. Within one country, different countries and globally. And that is how the competing manufacturing companies work. Being flexible and providing trucks that may consider different fuels (including diesel, gas, hydrogen, battery), engines (torque), fit for the operations, and much more. PepsiCo is one of hundreds of cases to study to prove the Semi's performance.
You can watch a few videos of the Tesla electric truck and you can see that it is one of the most reliable electric trucks on the market with insane range and acceleration on steep inclines.
Don't worry too much because the batteries for Tesla electric trucks are very carefully invested, think about this case after you drive 3 million miles.
Trucking routes and logistics hubs have different needs compared to passenger vehicle infrastructure. Dedicated megawatt scale charging stations can be strategically placed along major transportation corridors and at logistics hubs to ensure that EV trucks have reliable access to charging.
Currently the number of Mega charging stations for Tesla Semi trucks is still quite limited but until the manufacturer creates large numbers of electric trucks, we will definitely have more charging stations of these on the roads.
Why worry about rural routes, let’s get the inter states and truck stops set up first. When battery tech advances maybe those off the beaten path can be serviced !
It does not go far enough for road drivers. Not enough miles. And charging stations have to be in every state and plenty of them. Truck drivers can not even find parking to sleep. The Government can’t even fix that problem. There will never be enough charging stations. It will never work because of lack of planning. Even if people in charge cared and gave 100% towards this project we are at least 10 years away from this goal
This electric truck is a money-making machine and its price, although not yet disclosed, will certainly be much cheaper than other competitors on the market.
Better than Internal Explosion engine vehicles for 3 reasons. One ICE burns Oxygen and loses power in thin air, whereas electric does not. 2ndly: Electric regenerates by converting kinetic energy from decelerating down the mountain back to electricity. Lastly because of above point - brakes last long, making the vehicle safer and saving you money.
"Desile fuel is a deadly problem in the USA." People have you researched what it takes to make batteries? We have just reduced our footprint here and made a bigger one in other countries pluse people working for penny's a day to aquurie the materials for battery. I don't understand why no one brings this up when they talk about reducing pollution.
Many people think that Tesla's electric truck can only transport light loads like potato chips, this is completely wrong because it can reach 82,000 lbs of total combined weight, so it is suitable for most companies.
What no one keeps talking about on these vehicles are the range range range range. I own company vehicles go 500 miles 600 miles a day. There’s no way a semi truck will go that far on a single charge. They stated it’s only 200 miles of range in the video is that not to mention where are we going to get all this electricity to charge all these trucks? I’m trying very hard to find a solution to save money on fuel and gas but the electric vehicles just aren’t there yet when they figure out the range issue and can even possibly exceed the range issue of a gasoline vehicle perhaps I will buy a lot of them

How long will it take to recharge? What happens in cold and hot weather? Only Biden/Harris believe we can transit by 2035.
The issue with these trucks is in the financing: Why if it is 100k more expensive to buy at 7% intrest rate just to recover the intrest rate per year you need to have 43 of the before mentioned price difference that would be under ideal conditions just charging at the factory site for cheap. But it does not consider that also infrastructure MW chargers have to be build on factory sites they cost and they also have an intresst rate attached to them the reason cars are not being bought now is exactly because without subsidies they don't make commercial sense. They make sense if you look at a 5 year period but that is not how business decisions are made. Business decisions are made on a quater basis. Hence buying a truck that will be cheaper on a 5 year outlook is not a decision a CEO who is going to have his contract renewed in 3-4 years is going to make.

How does the Tesla Semi handle long periods of idling compared to diesel trucks?

How does the Tesla Semi's charging time compare to the refueling time of diesel trucks?
It only takes 30 minutes to fully charge a Tesla truck, but the cost you pay for each refueling will make you want to replace your diesel truck quickly.
How does the Tesla Semi handle steep inclines and declines compared to diesel truck
It has higher torque and regenerative braking, so it should be superior.
Will the new touchscreen interface be easy for drivers to use?
How does the Tesla Semi handle with heavy loads in terms of acceleration and range?
Range is 500 miles when fully loaded. Acceleration as with all electric vehicles - simply destroys any ICE semi it's not even close.
Great to hear about the Tesla Semi's environmental impact, but how soon can we expect these on a large scale?
Tesla has announced that it will produce large quantities of these electric trucks within 2 years, but for now the manufacturer is focusing on small quantities.
What are the real-world charging times for the Tesla Semi under various conditions?
The savings per mile are impressive, but what about the maintenance costs compared to diesel trucks?
The maintenance costs for an electric motor are also significantly cheaper than having an internal combustion engine repaired.
Repair and maintanance is always lower on electric parts. Because it has less parts then a normal engine.
The whole truck isn't electric, it will be the same cost... brakes, tires, inspections, etc
Lmao stop lying a litle tesla car its not even fixable imagine a truck@TeslaCarWorld

The Tesla Semi is a revolutionary idea, but how will it handle inclement weather conditions like heavy snow and ice?
This electric truck has proven its ability to perform very well in cold conditions. You can find some information on social networks.
Traction control will really help. CATL has new batteries impervious to cold.
The Tesla Semi’s features are impressive, but what about the overall cost of ownership over ten years?
They should have a quick mounted solar panel rack that covers the entire trailer to charge their batteries while driving.
