      Trucker Nick it’s not a made up condition if you actually took the time to review his research on it you’d realize that over time most of the men in football will have some brain tissue that’s scared and will never heal with each collision it’s like pouring cement into metal pipes and hardening over and over again until some parts of the brain begin to cease functioning properly or at all for that matter

      I think one of the problems about American Football is the helmets, bringing the helmets and armor into the game created a style of play where the men felt like they could use their heads to tackle. If Helmets were never used then the game would have been more like rugby, where the guys try to avoid hitting with their heads.

    And some parents force their children to play for decade or more for their enjoyment. What are the long term results? It is one thing to volunteer at 18, another to force children to play. A game where if you don't ram your head as hard as possible on kick off, you will likely lie on your butt- incentivizing your brain damage vs embarrassment. At least this generation has newer safety rules.

    Just as traumatic head injury chokes the brain -- choke the NFL by boycotting the entire sport until they change the rules. Rugby has done that, banning any tackle above the shoulder and banning tackles with the shoulder only. The arms must wrap around in all tackles. Any time a player suffers a blow to the head -- inevitable in a contact sport -- they are immediately taken to the locker room for a concussion check. If they fail, they are out of the match. The sport has plenty of contact and is played without pads and helmets -- but has many fewer injuries.

      I play rugby. I got kneed in the face last weekend. I play for the aggression. Rugby payers don’t wear the American football padding and helmets. If you do everything correct the only injuries are actual accidents. I got kneed in the face because I moved my head up to fast from the ruck. No one does a sport without knowledge of the risks.

    • @Cpre1111
      @Cpre1111 4 года назад +7

      @@lew2875 football has more concussions and injuries than rugby, but rugby has higher spinal injuries. Rugby players can have CTE, too. This isn't only a football problem. In fact, since CTE was found in a rugby player's brain, the league is making fundamental changes to the sport itself and how it's played to lessen the risk of developing CTE. That's the difference between other sports leagues & the NFL, the latter which values profits over people's quality of lives & health.

    We really need people who have been athletes at some points in their lives, while also getting an education commenting on this topic. It is very unfair to just say "stop playing this sport it is dangerous and will hurt you". A lot of people who play football, especially in the south, see it as a way out from the situation they and their families are in.
    It is so weird though, cause people can say how we need to end this because it is dangerous. However, they never speak of how we can change the sport to make it safer (so people can still enjoy it). Or how we need to change current systems in place that make athletes feel like this is their only path to success, and financial freedom.

    I respect this man for studying the dangers, but ultimately think it is in people's interest to play if they are good enough, and should be their choice to play it safe, or go for the fame and glory. Hitting a brick wall at 30 mph is potentially fatal in many cases, so to allege that players are going through the same 50-60 times a game can not be accurate. There would be deaths every game if this was this was the case

      @@evaneldrichnkuba4639 I agree. It's not the ultimate answer. At least there would be something available that would give the officials some idea that a player is injured. A triggered indicator would get someone out of the game after injury, possibly preventing worse damage. It would also provide a statistical measument to be gathered which could be analyzed later. There is no data being collected at the moment. The first step in fixing a problem is to admit there is a problem. Perhaps forcing an injury-indicating helmet is a first step.
