Thank you so much for this very informative tour. I love Wells Cathedral and learned so much new info about it. Who knew that the scissor arches weren’t exact copies of each other?
All things considered, I thought this has turned out rather well. Thanks to Gabriel and to Wells Cathedral - a very special place about which much can be said!
I consider myself very fortunate to have passed the selection process to train as a Cathedral Guide, written test and observed tour and all, in order to be allowed to enthuse over it and perhaps help to interpret it - one meets many interesting people, in non-COVID times!
Wow, thank you. From Texas, Eaglegards... P.S. The chap talking about the Catholic Cathedral and "... a scheme was established... " I had a chuckle on that one. My opinion: Sounds like the scheme today with mask wearing.
Thanks for the great video, on the two of my visits to Wells, never had time to visit the Cathedral. Looking forward to Part 2, does Wells have any Green Men.👍
Indeed it does, though the experts argue over the exact number. There are some particularly fine ones executed in wood in the vault of the Bishop's Chapel at the Palace next door.
I have been most graciously corrected on two matters - Dr. Sugar was Treasurer rather than Chancellor and the word 'rebus' is Latin, meaning 'by things', which is rather neat! Thanks to Kath Bristow, fellow guide and singer.
Big thank you Gabriel and your guide great tour of Wells Cathedral, brilliant 🙏 thank you both
A pleasure! Wells holds a special welcome!
On my travels to Glastonbury I will get off the 376 bus to explore Wells cathedral, thank you once again 🙏
@@janesaunders8835 Until public tours resume I am always happy to interpret for a one-to-one socially distanced masked visit. Let me know.
Hi Gabriel. Great video thanks.

Interesting!
Shame Glastonbury Abbey is no longer standing, in its former glory.
