  • Welcome to Wells cathedral part two with our excellent guide Mr Ben Potter. In todays video we are shown the amazing clock which despite its great age is accurate to within a secon a week!
Then its on to probably my favourite part of the cathedral where we see the steps up to the chapter house looking like something from a Harry Potter film (No relation to Ben Potter our wonderfull guide)
We are then taken to the chior and the famous Jesse window. where we finish this episode.
If you enjoy this video please be sure to subcribe, like and click the bell so you dont miss episode three which is comng soon

I had no idea that Wells Cathedral showcases all three gothic styles in one building! The clock is spectacular. Your guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting.

Hi Jeff I think there are at least 2 more episodes and possibly 3. I am also hoping to go back to get the stunning West end and an external look at the building. Watch this space Broham

I have been fortunate enough to receive some corrections to my commentary, as follows. I am told that the date of the Jesse window is 1340 while it is probable that the glass came from Europe as better coloured glass was made there, it would have been almost certainly made here. Phoebe is the Greek Moon goddess, not Latin as I stated and the Cathedra only has inserts of Bath stone which were placed there when it was made more grand and taller during the 1840s re-ordering of the Quire by Salvin. My apologies for errors!

Thanks Ben. Apologies not needed. These videos would be nothing without you great knowledge and expertise. I am indebted to you. I have part three in the editing suite this weekend and am really looking forward to returning to shoot the outsides and Vicars Close

@@GlastonburyGabriel One can at least comment on and correct a video tour in a manner which is completely impossible with a tour group!
