Oh dear, your trips remind me of many of mine. Got to take the bitter to enjoy the sweet....when they come. Looking forward to next installments, thanks for taking the time to share. I find the 'nornal' element's as interesting and informative as the fun bits. And not many share the bits you do on line. 👍🏻
Absolutely brilliant. I did the drive round Switzerland a couple of times in 70s and in 1993 and 2000. This has inspired me to go again. As instructed I played Matt Munro - made me LOL
I live 10 mins from Dover and never use the ferry. Slow and full of kids. Plus you get cars park next to you on the ferry where kids get out and ding your car. I’d rather pay a little bit extra and go eurotunnel.
I have a 981 GT4 and never take it abroad because of the stupidly low front splitter. Every French village and town seems to have huge speed bumps even along the main roads so I’ve never dared take the risk. I’m curious to see how you get on although you seem to have skirted through France without coming off the motorway! The lack of front suspension lift is my only criticism of the GT4. I know many will be relaxed about scraping the front but my OCD makes it too painful!!
It was Irish Ferries who brought a VW GTI to Dublin. It was pulling out of a French toll. I took the GTI to the rev limit in 4th. gear. Just over 100 mph for a few seconds. I am not too well, but I still love the GTI. Gerry
Agree with you about Pilot Sport 4s which Joe Achilles recommended to me when my Audi TT Roadster was on Bridgestones , transformed the ride) I saw you at Caffeine and Machine when you attended Joe’s Love You Man event last year but didn’t speak to you afterwards as you were having other conversations
Weather and cycling event issues aside the GT4 seems like a practical tourer as far as posh sport coupes go. I hope Kate doesn’t need brave pills for next bit as passenger view in left driving countries can be tortuous on narrow mountain roads - enjoy
Hi Andrew, another great trip in the making. Like you said with the Toll Tag, it has never failed me, it is just we are all apprehensive at the first Toll Plaza. Looks like the the weather in Europe is not great either :-(
I did a very similar route about a month ago from Calais to Carpentras. On a Sunday got diverted for a cycle event( not the Tour de France I think) and the French do not give a dam about giving new directions just road closed signs everywhere and you are on your own
Screw the Tour De France - boring bloody race. You were right near Les Gets. You should time it to watch the UCI Downhill race there - it's always good!

I agree, live in Canterbury and take the tunnel every time
Things can only get better!! Really enjoying your GT4 content 🤩

Good video Andrew apart from the heavy rain the scenery in the alps looks amazing hope the rest of your trip goes ok
I never ever use the ferry. The tunnel is worth every penny.

Looking forward to part two, beautiful scenery.
Always really enjoy your trips. Can't wait to see Part 2. Hurry up mate! Lol 😂
Wow, Andrew yr an inspiration to do things like this, yes not everyones got a porsche but we can do the same routes. Very good. And hi to kate 😂
That weather and that detour must have combined to raise the old blood pressure.
Love these road trip videos 👍

Get yourself to Centre Gravity for one of their GT4 customer specific chassis tuning sessions. You will not regret it!

The blurred out speedo says 130 not the rain 110 speed limit 😂😂😂
Careful when the roads are wet. Speed limit becomes automatically reduced.
I love your pronunciation of Troyes 😂
You been up more ramps than a skateboarder
Shame you couldn't have taken Steve the seagull with you. He looked pretty up for a road trip
I'm sure Kate would like to drive
Great part 1 shame about the weather
Beautiful car
This car the GT4 or the Audi V8 R8? If you had to choose.
