  • went shopping at one of my favorite places, the scrap yard. and sitting out front was this torn apart 2000 watt gen set , I decided to take a chance on it so lets see what we got and if it could be brought back to life for next to nothing.
also at the end is some footage of our spring dust off for our local vw clubs. the weather was not great but the people sure were.

Yes. Some people are more fortunate than others, and starts wrenching as a toddler.
Intelligence means the capacity one has to adopt knowledge, and how to troubleshoot miscellaneous faulty stuff.
Mustie's philosophy is more or less the art of problem solving without any extensive help.

Cheaply made generators are a common thing these days just like most things, once it breaks, just replace it instead of fixing the problem. I fix the problems any equipment I've got instead of buying another, just cost effective if repair it than replacing it. Great video!

I found that same generator in the trash. Mine was a honeywell, but it was the same.
I got it running but it would not put out power. The red restart light went on and stayed on immediately, so the inverter or one of the other major components are shot on it. Those are the old ones, when the plug ins were on the side.
Its also impossible to find schematics on those units and they don't make parts for them anymore either.
I am left with a compact 4 cycle engine, maybe I can sell the engine to someone for some project, or maybe someone out their with that unit that still produces power but needs a good engine could use mine and will buy it. This model was also much harder to work on than most of the new models. This is when they first started making these things around 09-10. Maybe I'll get lucky and find more info on it under the excell name. I'm glad you made a video on this unit now I can back track over it and see if I missed anything, I doubt it tho. Once those inverters or whatever go its pretty much a done deal.
.....Unless it is something more simple, but I don't know electronics well and finding a schematic on this is so far been impissible.

Im so glad that I came across your videos! I found a $20 Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 generator on Craigslist the other day. Guy said that he had not used it but a few times 4 years ago, went to start it and of course it wouldnt start. So I went and picked it up because I was sure that the carb just needed cleaned. Got it home tore into it. Used some throttle body cleaner and sone small wire to get the jets clean. And viola! I got pretty much a brand new generator for $20! Couldnt have done it without seeing your videos! Ive been watching your videos non stop. Love what you do. Small engine repair scares a lot of people, but now I'm not one of them!

Wolf Coyote do you sell any once they are done? A lot of the old tools are in demand because they last so long. Made in China generally can't hold a candle to Made in USA, Great Britain, Germany or a number of the previously respected manufacturing countries. Old tools often fetch a lot more than their modern equivalents here.

A side note about Ultra Sonic Cleaners:
Having the most used fluid in there is beneficial, but if you ever need the US to quickly use with a different type of fluid, you can float a glass jar filled with parts and cleaner. Granted it only holds much smaller parts but it gets the job done without draining your US.

Mustie1, Here is how it goes for
me. So my iPhone beeps, I look at it and it has a notification that Mustie1 has uploaded another video. I touch it and my RUclips app opens with your latest video. I see the thumbnail and read the title “ok gonna be another interesting generator back to life video of his” then I look at the video length “ahhh, 55 minutes - oh yeaaaa - this is gonna be a good one”. So I go to the garage, light up a cigarette, pop out the stand of my iPhone case, sit back and relax watching another Mustie1 wrench video. Before it ends, I’ve probably talked to the screen trying to ESP the fact that he forgot this or didn’t see that etc etc. All good and funny. The end segment comes seeing all the cool VW’s and of course Mustie1’s sidekick, Mr. Brian! Now I’ve had my Mustie1 fix for the week! Oh yeaaaaa! Thanks Mustie1.

I found your site on your tube and it habit forming. Is there any thing you can’t fix. The wife think I spend more time watch you than spend watching you videos.

Oh yeah and when this all junk you get it finally starts and you hear that first couple of poop come out of it I get the same evil little smile on my face that you get!
And in my previous comment I mentioned watching all your videos🤔
I have a junk back seven surgeries and found out yesterday there’s a couple three more to go so I get to spend lots of time with my best friend (RUclips) here on the bed I know that sounds weird but!!
    👁 REALLY ENJOY YOUR COMPANY😊 ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Damn there was a few sweet looking VW bugs and camper vans at the end there, thanks for sharing yet again M1.
The yellow bug with the black rag top and black paint on the bonnet was my favorite, also that chopped black bug was sweet looking too but not really me these days, but in my younger days i would of been all over that bad boy. 🤷🏾‍♂️ would of love to of seen more on them VW's,i'm guessing it was some sort of VW rally right?
With much love and respect from the UK. ✊🏾💪🏾👍🏾😉
