Lammert was a badass guest!!! I always enjoy it when you bring on just regular dudes in the community that have awesome collections. You definitely have to bring him back to show off his poster collection next. Keep on rockin’, Christian! 🤘🎃🤘
Nothing better to collect in Physical Media then Friday the 13th. Fantastic franchise. I am watching the series with my Son, his first time seeing any of the movies and he’s digging them. We’re up to Jason goes straight to Hell, Part 3 is his favourite and Part 8 is his second favourite so far. And he’s right Friday 4 is perfection. It’s my favourite
Haha Noice Man Great Video, I remember when Scream Factory screwed up The FT13 Box Set w/ Jason goes to Hell & had to mail the Disc w/ the Unrated Version. Awesome VHS Tapes & Records I love the Hot Ice Sticker 😂 🏒
American video stores had a variety of different kinds of VHS cases. They had the thinner clamshells that were clear. Some had solid opaque clamshells, like brown was common, especially from the library or some mom and pop stores. Some used the puffy "Disney style" clamshells, usually black or white, but I saw mostly black. There were also these cases that slid over the thin VHS cases and you'd squeeze the sides to get the tape out. The grocery stores and pharmacies used to rent movies out and some of the ones around me used that style case.
Thank you Lammert for showing us your collection. Friday The 13th is a very special franchise for me. 10 of the 12 movies in the franchise are my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I love collecting copies of the movies and other merchandise.
Hi this is Lammert, yeah the ones from Warner start with the Warner logos and don't have any mention of Paramount. Also, some of the late 80s and 90s releases have a different F13 block logo, which only these have. interesting why they did this.
Pretty insane collection! Truly rare stuff and amazing collectibles of their times. Greetings from Germany to my neighbor from the Netherlands. Great video and content as usual!
I have the official JGTH magazine and I’m not kidding, it was the first ever book or magazine I ever got for the franchise! I got it at Bookman’s here and it’s well worn but I love it. It was comprehensive and I feel like it was a proto Crystal Lake Memories because then later on, we got the book and it rules. Good video Christian and Lammert and you guys rule! Keep being awesome and ty once again for the stuff you do man! Btw, Friday The 13th is the franchise I love most and never have anything bad to say about either. I love some movies in the series more than others, but I don’t hate any of them at all. My top three franchises are Friday The 13th, Superman especially Smallville and Pokemon and I love all the movies and shows in those franchises. It’s just fun times you know?
Th format that I believe you were talking about was Divx. DIVX was a rental format variation on the DVD player in which a customer would buy a DIVX disc (similar to a DVD) for approximately US$4.50, which was watchable for up to 48 hours from its initial viewing. After this period, the disc could be viewed by paying a continuation fee to play it for two more days. You could pay to unlock the disc permanently. You also had to hardwire the player to a phone line and create an account. It was a Circuit City thing. Crazy stuff man.
I got that part 5 variant poster in 11x17. When I met Melanie kinnaman at flashback weekend one year. She told me she's never seen that poster art for the film before.
I miss the old Internet before social media where we had tons of individual specialty websites. There was way more information and it was way easier to find before Google and FB both kind of ruined the internet, in a way. There were multiple Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th sites. You had working scripts and multiple drafts, indie games people made (I still have some), and all kinds of detailed information, and tape trading forums where you could get workprints, Freddy's Nightmares episodes, Friday the 13th the Show, TV edits, TV specials, midi songs for your flip phone, and bootleg soundtracks. It did take me a while to get every single song from the Nightmare movies back then. It took a couple of years for me to finally track down "Anyway you gotta swing it" by Whodini lol. And man, I played the hell out of "The Darkest Side of the Night" by Metropolis.
A coincidence that in Wild Wild West (1999) Derek Mears was in the movie plus 1 of the stunts players is Ted White & that 10 Years Later Derek Mears would play Jason in Friday The 13TH (2009).
Hearing Lammert tell having to import movies and wait 3 months...man, that must've sucked. It's easy to take for granted how easy it is to get some kind of copy of most things now. I remember getting a couple video stores to order a couple of movies for me and I remember ordering a couple movies from a catalog with an order form and money order when I was a teen. It took longer, but I have to say it also felt more special once the movie [or sometimes video game] showed up.
I bought 6, 7, 8 bears bones dvd & the triple pack that has JGTH: The Final Friday, Jason X & FVJ @ FYE @ Dolphin Mall around the time was attending high school & graduated high school, then decided 2 get the deluxe edition.
Divix is the format your thinking of that made you rent your own movies to watch them after you watched it once. It's the format that killed Circuit City. They were DVD's rival but, if I remember right they were only sold at Circuit City and DVD was sold everywhere. Now with Divix you didn't have to pay every time if you paid a one time fee to unlock it forever, like a permanent rental, the price was like $50 I had that Friday the 13th video cd. Video CD was rather popular in like Japan and China and around Asia Far East Asia in the past. It came out around the same time as DVD or slightly before that edition of Friday the 13th was the uncut version and it had hard-coated Japanese subtitles. Video CDs while they had their own players or you can say play them on a computer or what have you they also worked on DVD players. Video CDs weren't region locked so they worked even over here on American DVD players like my I think I had a Panasonic at the time.

Fantastic to hear
You're thinking of Circuit City with the dvds and players that you rent but could only watch it once.

Physical media will never die
Thank you Lammert and chh. We want you back. That was amazing!

Great collection, Lammert! Question for you: do the Warner vhs/laserdiscs start with the Warner logo when you play them?

Wow, I haven't seen much of these Friday the 13th items even online before. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Ximo How I love that physically trained people have their well-deserved new place in the market 😊

Actually, in the early to mid eighties, video stores did use clamshell cases in the U.S.
