I wake up at 0430 where ever I'm at, truck stop, rest area, place of delivery and I set my mat and dumbbells on the ground and I do an hour of HIIT (high intensity interval training) followed by 500 push ups, 3 sets of 33 reps. That ads up to 495 so at the end I do 5 single push ups to equal 500. Thats how I start every day Monday through Friday while over the road. Since I'm home every weekend I have a home gym and I still wake up at 0430 but on top of doing my morning HIIT. I also do strength training through out the day and get some running or cycling. I train 7 days a week. Sunday I train but is more of an active recovery type of training. I also pack my meal prep for the week. I eat super lean and clean. No fast food, no soda or juice. Lean meats good fats, some carbs and alot of water. It ain't hard to stay in shape over the road. You just have to be discipline. I've trained in the rain, snow and scorching heat. My regiment is solid.

Do you have good luck training on the road? I start trucking school in a week. I train most days at anytime fitness. Would like to keep training. Thanks!
So many people don't realize what you just mentioned. It's a common misconception that a full gym is needed for every workout. There's a lot one can do just being resourceful and working with what they have. It does require the knowledge on how to do that, though. 24 Hour Fitness has 300 locations across 11 US states. So if there's a location nearby, that can be useful to truckers when they do want a full gym. They are typically in big plazas where you can fit and park a rig as well 👍
Great video, I did this years ago, and still do it today. I can't stand being overweight, and it's happened a couple times. At 62 I still maintain a daily work out routine, and cook my meals out on the road. Like Bryan I take protein supplements, and key down on lots of cardio. I also spend a lot of time stretching. The ham strings can really tighten up from sitting in one position most of the day, when you do it day after day, year after year. Spending time stretching your whole body, can relieve a a lot of the body stress from sitting so long
Keep in mind y’all that everyone has different genetics, also keep in mind gender and age. I’ve been living that truck driver life for 15yrs... when we (my team driver) started I was 20 he was 21 and I was able to eat subway everyday and very stay lean (mind you I was probably a “skinny fat” thin on the outside, very unhealthy on the inside) but now I really have to restrict myself on eating ANY kind of rice, bread, potatoes, corn, etc, being a female in my 30’s it’s not as easy as a males lifestyle. You also might want to eliminate most sugary drinks on a day to day basis. If I am craving a little fizz I drink a flavored sparkling water with 0sugar added. Every now and then I do enjoy a Body Armor drink, but try not to make it a every day thing. I’m really glad to see more of my fellow drivers choosing a more healthier lifestyle out here on the road but we are definitely a stereotype. I wish they would take out the game rooms in the truck stops and add in a free weight room for drivers. We are a big part if not the biggest part that keeps the world moving so good health should be the number one priority and the truck stops need to take into consideration what kind of food places and amenities they have for their main source of money flow, THE TRUCK DRIVERS!
in the late 90's and early 2000s, some truck stops started putting in exercise equipment, nobody used them, or they misused them and got tore up. Free weights went missing, etc. I'm 62 still driving, just had my DOT and passed no problems, I exercise everyday, keying down on cardio, and not losing muscle mass. It's a lot harder at 62 than it was a 40 lol
@@garyharrison8891A weighted ruck vest would be a good investment. You can put what weight you want in the vest whether it’s 45 or 60 etc. You just have to know how to fit them correctly for them to work properly. I use mine daily with my dog, 3 mile walk everyday and I burn as many calories I would as if I were running.
Just finding this video and just wanted to say thanks to TMC for taking the time to make this video. Bryan has a lot of great ideas that I can use. I've been driving for a little over three years and I've gained at least 30lbs from poor food choices and lack of exercise. About to go shopping now so it's time to make healthier choices. Be safe out there.
I'm actually going from teaching middle school science to trucking myself. Talk about extreme changes in your career path huh? I work out myself and was worried about finding the time to work out, along with worries of gaining weight on the road. This was excellent. I plan on going to JTL trucking school in Omaha in July of this year (2018). Been seeing some great reviews on this company. TMC seems like a great company, and letting their drivers make these videos is pretty cool. I may be looking into coming TMCs way this summer if they will have me. However, you never can tell what the future holds. Great video man!
I already starting eating healthier with the help of the weight watchers app, lost 60#'s in a little under a year. I just started working out and studying for my CDL permit. I eat tuna packets with a variety of tortilla shells 3 times a week to change things up. Hopefully get cut before I get out on the road. Thanks for the insight-thanks for sharing and keep on truckin. 😎
I started doing some of the stuff not because I was worried about gaining weight, because I've always been a big guy, but because it got so expensive eating in the truck stops and by accident I realized that I was losing weight. This guy's pretty impressive and I love his attitude. The chicken, the wraps and the protein is something I've never thought of before and I really appreciate this man giving me a heads up on it, will definitely incorporate this into my meals. Thank you, great video.
I'm so glad to have found this video. I'm looking to start with TMC in the near future and have been concerned with what to eat to stay healthy, or get healthier. Thanks a lot!

Thanks Brian, doing research to see how I can help my husband over the road. It's so nice that you have a microwave and pre-cooked foods and pre-portioned foods.
Great video Water, I have a lime squeezer and try to grab fresh water in my bottles, no sugar or chemicals still it livens up the flavor. Look into mini instant pot, 3qt, fresh cooked chicken is awesome, you can use it as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, or an open pot.
Man what another great and motivating video by TMC and Byran . I thank yall for the this . It's truly inspiring . Can't wait to make positive changes for my life and others around me .
Is a protein powder a good substitute for a meal. If I replace a meal for a protein powder could that be done everyday, or should it be done just a couple days a week
It really depends on what's in the the product. The quality of the ingredients vary tremendously. A good rule of thumb when dealing with "supplements" is to remember that they are called supplements for a reason. To "supplement" something, means to use it not as a primary source, but a lower percentage of the time to fill in gaps. Personally, I would only utilize a meal replacement powder a few times a week and when there is a lack of quality, whole food options.
That's good to hear. Trucking is a good career. If your interested you can check my health and fitness yt channel and my Facebook where I especially focus on truck driver fitness.
Great video bro, shid need more videos like this.... We all need to share that advise its a lot of us that already know but eithr too tired or just not ready. But thats some of the reason why because what a lot of ppl don't realize is that if that get that testosterone boosted by eating right and exercise shoods we can get that energy back. Because staying fit is very important. Not only trucking but everything. I decided to make that change about 2 years ago and im glad i did. Great video man.. Keep on trucking truckng brothah
I haul gas so I’m in and out of the truck- the otr thing seems nearly impossible to eat right. Exercise can be managed but the food is hard to dial in.
You need a blog or instagram or tik tok where you can show more examples of what you do. If you already don't have it i would love to watch them! New cdl driver here and i want to start before i get started on my own been doing push ups sit ups and planks everyday and watching more of what i eat.
If you can't fit a mini fridge in your current truck, a cooler or insulated storage container with frozen meals you let gradually thaw you last you a bit. You can also carry cans of chicken or beef that you only open prior to consuming. There are companies that sell this kind of stuff for survival situations.
any truckers keep a mini propane grill? my truck doesnt have an inverter so im trying to find the best option for cooking warm food on my own. im sick of cold food or crappy truck stop meals.
Cool brother but my company doesn't allow us inverters for a fridge or microwave. So how do you eat healthy without one? Right now its mostly subway or any other fast food spot. Or am I pretty much screwed ?
I have a slim fast for breakfast rihht after walking 1 mile and then 1 for lunch as well as 3 100ish calorie snacks then i eat a 600 calorie dinner. I buy those family oncor meals from walmart for 250 and have 2 pieces plus canned veggies. Then prep 2 more dinners the next couple of days
All that processed food is super high in salt so you must be careful with that as well. Having the invertor is a nice touch to heat up home cooked meals
Truck driving companies should give out free gym memberships to their employees. It would definitely cut down on job / diet related illnesses. Oh and why not have a nutrition program for drivers who are obese and have food related diseases or as a preventative measure for drivers who are healthy?
I have an objection, to the packaged chicken. It is very high in sodium. I have found that many of the packaged items, the sodium content is ridiculous, I have personally invested in a food saver and cook at home. I also enjoy tuna, however being sodium conscious, I have to buy from Amazon unless I pay $4/ pouch for No Salt Added Wild Planet tuna at walmart.
When CRST came to our school I asked about the gym and she said the truck runs 24 hours because of training. I said no to that, right off the bat. She said work out in the sleeper while the truck is running. This is why truckers are so unhealthy. For people who don’t consistently exercise don’t understand. I would go nuts not working out all the time it keeps me sane! Also there was no way I’m staying in a truck for 24 hours a day for 6 weeks PERIOD
@@ginaguarino3163 I left CRST barely 5 months after getting my CDL. I now drive overweight loads for dollars per hour, not cents per mile. I stay in a hotel each night, and they all have at least a basic fitness center in them. I've not thought about CRST or how to keep in shape while out over the road since
Well not to mention the flatbed trailer throwing chains binders reps with tie downs vs pulling a box literally hang load locks and code the door go........
A note on the protein powders though… Whey protein “isolate” is ideal for muscle gain & weight loss. Be sure you’re not consuming a Whey protein “concentrate” as this can be counterproductive to WeightLoss and are often cheaper Due to the use of fillers and sweeteners
Would like to see some ziploc meal prep just take out of fridge, un zip and add to a portable gas griddle cooking outside truck for safety. Healthy freshly done meals. Just to ditch the microwave once in a while.....any truckers out there that used to warm up their food wrapped in aluminum thin foil and heated it on top of truck engine?
Any trouble grabbing a daily shower on the road? I'm a serious exerciser. Wanting to maintain my daily fitness effort. But also want to hit the rack washed up if possible. I'm new to trucking and looking for my first company and seriously considering pursuing work with TMC. Solid advice I really want to go to TMC
Man what another great and motivating video by TMC and Byran . I thank yall for the this . It's truly inspiring . Can't wait to make positive changes for my life and others around me .
Awesome video bro about to start otr driving for Stevens and worried about my health while out on the road very helpful thanks a lot
Great video. Thank u
How about a video for those opposed to microwave cooking?
Air fryer
Slow cooker
Toaster oven
Get a small air fryer
Is a protein powder a good substitute for a meal. If I replace a meal for a protein powder could that be done everyday, or should it be done just a couple days a week
Can do it as many times as you want it’s a meal replacement .
True, especially if you add a mix of fruits, veggies, healthy fats and spices.
This guy is a BEAST!! #SomethingofthatNature props!
Hello Andrew how are you doing today
This guy is my idol.
Very motivating
Good stuff bro !!
Damn excellent video everything well explain and for free
I just got my CDL permit and I like to eat right and exercise, so I was wondering how I was going to keep healthy. Thank you.
That's good to hear. Trucking is a good career. If your interested you can check my health and fitness yt channel and my Facebook where I especially focus on truck driver fitness.
Does the company pay meal perdiem, and fitness time daily.
Bro you are a inspiration
On small boats in the Navy we would put our cans of soup on the water cooled exhaust manifolds 🥰
And the MRE meat packets 💙🇺🇸
I'm very proud of you!!
Inspirational!
Hello Brandon how are you doing today
Great video bro, shid need more videos like this.... We all need to share that advise its a lot of us that already know but eithr too tired or just not ready. But thats some of the reason why because what a lot of ppl don't realize is that if that get that testosterone boosted by eating right and exercise shoods we can get that energy back. Because staying fit is very important. Not only trucking but everything. I decided to make that change about 2 years ago and im glad i did. Great video man.. Keep on trucking truckng brothah
Hello Marcus how are you doing today
This is so inspirational 🙏
please add a gym to your truck stops...I would buy a membership for sure...
Hello Johnny how are you doing today
I haul gas so I’m in and out of the truck- the otr thing seems nearly impossible to eat right. Exercise can be managed but the food is hard to dial in.
You need a blog or instagram or tik tok where you can show more examples of what you do. If you already don't have it i would love to watch them! New cdl driver here and i want to start before i get started on my own been doing push ups sit ups and planks everyday and watching more of what i eat.
Well done bro
Does Vitamix Blender work in the Truck please ?
No, vitamix has too high of wattage, but a nutribullet pro will work with an inverter
teaspoon of honey a day to reduce sugar cravings...I never heard that before. I'm gonna try that.
These are great recipe ideas!
How do you keep chicken cool and not spoil with no fridge… and cant have the truck running
If you can't fit a mini fridge in your current truck, a cooler or insulated storage container with frozen meals you let gradually thaw you last you a bit. You can also carry cans of chicken or beef that you only open prior to consuming. There are companies that sell this kind of stuff for survival situations.
Great insight dude.
any truckers keep a mini propane grill? my truck doesnt have an inverter so im trying to find the best option for cooking warm food on my own. im sick of cold food or crappy truck stop meals.
This video was on time
Cuh on the plantation fo TMC. Balee dat!
Cool brother but my company doesn't allow us inverters for a fridge or microwave. So how do you eat healthy without one? Right now its mostly subway or any other fast food spot. Or am I pretty much screwed ?
Great info!
Inspiring
Can I be added to that group? Like how the accountability is there and share the same passion
Truck driving companies should give out free gym memberships to their employees. It would definitely cut down
on job / diet related illnesses. Oh and why not have a nutrition program for drivers who are obese and have food related diseases or as a preventative measure for drivers who are healthy?
The only company that I know that does this is Wal-Mart
Agree! They should also have gyms with weights and calisthenics at each of these truck stops.
Thanks guys am really tired of fast food
I want to train with this guy otr
I have my CDL permit do y’all offer training in SC Thanks for any info
I have an objection, to the packaged chicken. It is very high in sodium. I have found that many of the packaged items, the sodium content is ridiculous, I have personally invested in a food saver and cook at home. I also enjoy tuna, however being sodium conscious, I have to buy from Amazon unless I pay $4/ pouch for No Salt Added Wild Planet tuna at walmart.
Hello how are you doing today
....Thank You
I wanna see before pics do he have an RUclips
I’m a driver at TMC and my goal was to NOT LOOK LIKE TRUCKER😂😂😂
Great video, just was think how you represent the company
Yeah, but how do you do this as a rookie with say CR England or CRST? What if you aren't able to have a microwave/fridge in the truck?
Thanks for the video. I recommend syntha six protein powder.
I've heard on a few other videos that "for some reason" flatbedding is harder on finding a daily shower. Any truth to that?
