Was a racer friend of Harold in the 90’s. I got my CDL in private school and for an article I went through all of the TMC training in January of 97. Very good company especially for a “thinking” driver. Great training !!!
As a fellow VA Beach'er I loved that. I was also wondering how it would go over with me being 48 and just starting out with TMC. After seeing you rocking and rolling at 60, I know I'm in good hands. I mean 50 is the new 30 right? :)
Great video! Nice job on tarping! A tip: bungees (hooks) should face away from the tarp to avoid holes if possible. Hooks too; if possible always connected to the frame inside out so the frame doesn't cut them. Fun fact: I used to help my dad with tarps at 16 in Morocco. He'd say "get an education" when I messed up. I did, earning a Master's & PhD. And went back to driving. Ironically, when I came to the States, I found out that my tarping skills were way better in Morocco 😂. Good luck, and respect trucker!!
wow, really cool. excellent production value, this sold me on tmc, i like the physical activity that comes with the job. ill need to get into contact with the recruiter that came by my school recently!
Enjoyed your video Brian if I were 20 years younger I believe I'd enjoy truck driving, my grandson drove for TMC for about a year and half but has since moved on to another career. I talked to him on the phone just about every day while he was driving. I probably drove him nuts (he claims I didn't) with all my questions, where are you at, what are you hauling, where you going, how's the truck holding up, how many miles today?? Endless questions, but I loved it. I miss our daily talks.
im in the Navy. just hit 13 in September. plan on being a truck driver afterwards. I'm an LS (SK) one of the guys that delivers recommended this company to me because I am interested in flat bed.
I drove for TMC 15 years ago, they kept bending me over with OOR. I would follow their directions which many times would go the wrong way or they would low ball the runto the shipper and when you went over on the milage they would drop your percentage. It got old quick. This is not an easy job being a flatbed driver so last thing you want is them lowering your pay when you didn't do anything to warrant it. They would bill 120 to tarp a load and driver only received 20 of it lol
Great video prime example of how one can work for free. You don’t get paid for any of this. You don’t get paid to load or unload. You get a flat rate depending on freight rate and right now it ain’t that great. 30% of nothing is actually nothing. Gave it all up and I’m working local pay by the hour with overtime. Work five days a week and just got all three full weeks of vacation at full pay. Don’t miss it. By the way, enjoy tarping in the high winds, in the cold weather, the rain and the snow, and all the other elements as you do this for free.
Damn really ?!...im literally in the process of getting hired right now as we speak....I just want to get experience since no one ain't giving me a chance
@@MOE13576 it’s been this way with most trucking companies since driving began. Everybody has to get it start somewhere. Let’s just say you’ve been warned.
I sure would like one of those 2023 Peterbilt that have a brake fluid reservoir within the airbrake system. I think in this case he made a mistake he didn’t mean to say brake fluid. He meant to say blinker fluid. It’s accidentally, the new Peterbilt have an automatic lighting system check that goes through a sequence so that you can check all the lighting. The only one it does not check is the reverse lights in that case you must turn the key on and put the transmission in reverse. Remember to shut the truck off while it is still in reverse. With these automatics, you never know you might have to have somebody come behind you with your foot on the brake and your truck in reverse to check your reverse lights. He must’ve walked around that truck about five times. Boy that’s gonna be hard to prove to DOT that you did that pre-trip in 15 minutes. That’s more like a half hour. Since they don’t install trolley brakes anymore, you can’t check your brake lights unless you got somebody that can look behind your truck. By the way, the 15 minute pre-trip logging was started by trucking companies because the old paper log had 15 minute increments in the logbook. By today’s standards, you just do your pre-trip after you go on duty and whatever the log records, that is your time. Come to think of it, that is your time for everything. Fueling, tarp installation, bumping the docks, pre-trip, post trip, etc. I’ve yet to see a flatbedder completely tarp a load in 30 minutes or less. Average is about one and a half to two hours.
Section 756 of the Energy Policy Act amended Title 23 United States Code 127 (a) to allow an increase in the maximum weight limit on the Interstate System of up to 400 pounds to compensate for the additional weight of APUs installed on any heavy duty vehicle.
Almost felt like I was in Training many years ago again! I am considering contacting TMC TRANSPORTATION as so many have so far only good to speak of the company you work for. I am located in Chicago, so I am not certain how such a choice would pan out.
They're working rigs, tmc needs to accept that they're gonna get dirty. Writing up or firing drivers for a little dirt in the floorboard is a bit excessive.
I hope DOT isn’t watching because he did his entire pre-trip and did not log it. He is now falsifying his log by coming on duty after he was already performing work in the performance of his duty. Violation! Oh, and I don’t use my personal phone for company business. If TMC or any other company wants me to contact the customer, they need to supply me a company phone.
Classic hard-working American 👍
Brian has a great attitude and I think he would be a great trainer!
I would love to train with him.

Shouldn't be tarp on the inside of the crush bar?
Are you not allowed to use the tarp boxes instead of the head ache rack at TMC?

I didn’t know air brakes had brake fluid 😮 must be the cold I guess
The cold effected his memory he meant to say blinker fluid.
Come on TMC y’all could have at least had the truck and trailer clean before starting the video?? Driver did an awesome job!

do these trucks have front face cameras?
