Met this man today in Des Moines, IA at the TMC headquarters! He helped me a lot through my journey of applying to TMC and getting through some of the tests, answering lots of questions for about what to expect. Was so glad to meet you. Great energy. Thank you WCT - #TMC
Congratulations, man! You have worked so hard and been such a source of information and inspiration. It's been great following your journey. Thank you for sharing so much with us and being so supportive. Stay safe!
Awsome information, I just recently retired from the military and thinking of getting into trucking so I really appreciate videos like yours that give great info.
When I drove for TMC, my "TRAINER", Les Cassidy, instead of "TRAINING" me, spent a lot of time at pickups talking about me to drivers of other companies. He looked for me to strap/ tarp/bungy the loads even though I was a dry van/ refeefer driver with no flatbed experience except for the orientation training I received in Des Moines, Iowa. I was sick 1 day and couldn't drive on Wednesday, we got home time on Saturday. On Monday when he hadn't shown to pick me up, I called the dispatcher, John and was told I had been fired because Les Cassidy said I act like I just didn't want to drive. I sent John a Qualcomm message stating I was sick on Wednesday, and told Les Cassidy as well. He never liked me being on his truck from the start and it showed at every drop/ pickup we made. I enjoyed the orientation training and the friends I made and the pay. If I'd had a better trainer, I'd have stayed and retired with my own truck to modify.
That sucks, at least at Melton they told us if you have ANY problems with your trainer or vise versa call them and they will give you a different trainer. That’s what I would do, I would report it to the company that he isn’t doing his job by refusing to train you, that’s what they’re paid to do, if they aren’t doing it they are the ones that should be fired.
I’m going through orientation right now and they were like, “there’s one guy who earned over $10,000 in driver referrals.” I’m positive they were talking about you 😂
Congrats man... Keep working hard. I got my cdl when you did and followed you since then. I went with hazmat and tanker with mapco. Happy for you man. Keep up the hard work. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I loved TMC while at it. But you said you made close to 90k. But that was adding in 11k in referral money. And reason I say this is your social media presence helped you achieve that so not knocking your hustle. A normal evaluation would of been just you reg pay with training pay. So guys won’t ask WHY IS HE MAKING 90k and I am only making 70k. I am not being negative but just be more realistic for some of the new drivers coming in the industry
TBH for me I wouldn't even be griping if I was making 70k 🤣🤣 cause to me that's pretty dam decent, I'm not a trucker "yet" I'm still having a tough time choosing between Maverick and TMC, but I'm a single man with no kids, and barely any bills (the money I saved up from my other jobs I bought a nice camper to live in on land my parents own) and with my permit that I just got I'm undecided on Maverick or TMC. The only thing I'm unsure about is besides Maverick does TMC have WiFi on their trucks aswell? and the only other con about TMC for me is the whole not having an apu to keep you cool during the summer heat but I know there is ways around that with how far inventors have gone to create portable a/c's and what not. When I start training with which ever company I choose I'm expecting to only come home during MAJOR holidays like thanksgiving, Christmas, and maybe New Years, but after that I'm planning on stay OTR for a good years to rack up money, then go from there, I do plan on being my own authority one day, but got to get the baby steps first.

I'm about to head out with a trainer Monday for TMC. They definitely seem to be more of the micro manage kind of outfit just from the 3 week orientation but life's about pros and cons. I'll see how it all shakes out coming from being a welder.
I'm the same way, transitioning from a 20yr career as an industrial Maintenance mechanic/ welder-fabricator-- I'm REALLY on the fence btwn TMC & another company; Really starting to lean more toward TMC, b/c I want flatbed, but eventually once I learn the wropes, I want to get hazmat, heavy-haul & tanker as well, & TMC is more in that "lane" than the other campany.
My question is; Do u get paid during the 3wk cdl training & the 4wk ojt & if so, how much?? Just close ball-park figure is fine, I kno ery1's deductions are different. B/c the other company I'm lookin at, its= 1st 3wks, NO pay & u have to provide your own meals, the 4-5wks with a trainer, is 800/wk before taxes, once in your own truck- GUARANTEED no less than 1,000/wk before taxes(just have to be available & willing to run/ no turned down loads, etc.)-- Like, if your truck breaks down or it's in for service, you'll still get that guarantee cause you're there & ready-willin' to run. But, if u run more you'll get more. I'm FULLY ready & want to stay out months at a time. Oh, and after runnin for a while, if like my wife or daughter, wanted to go on a a week or 2 run with me, does TMC allow that??
@@jeffjohnson2789 500 a week untaxed while in school training, lunch and hotel provided. 500 a week taxed while with the trainer. First 2 weeks in your own truck is 1000 min pay.
I’m a career firefighter paramedic. Looking to leave. TMC is #1 on my list. Hometime is also very important. Wife and baby at home. With you making that kind of money, are you going home every week? Or staying out OTR?
Well, if you wanna go home every weekend and let’s just say you live in southern Louisiana they’re not gonna send you to Maine or North Dakota but if you decide that you want to run for the week and not go home for the weekend, then you can go dang near everywhere. West is very rare.
TMC does not. But if you train than you are partial teams for the first 2 weeks with mandatory 6 hour stop in every 24 hour period and the next two weeks you’re full teams so truck can continuously run.
Does TMC do anything for me while I’m serving in the Army? Even though I’m National Guard will they work with my one weekend a month I have to go to drills? Also I’m a 88m in the Army which is our version of a truck driver once I graduated what do I need to bring to get a civilian Class A CDL?
Yes I am pretty sure that you will be able to do any of your weekend obligations while working with TMC. It would be something you’d wanna bring up to the recruiter when you talk to them after you fill out the application and when you do get hired on and get in your own truck it’ll be something you’d want to discuss with your Fleet Manager that you’ll need to get home on a Thursday Once a month to do those drills on the weekend. As far as your other question about the CDL I am not sure.
Completely up to you if you wanna train or not when you become a trainer, you can definitely take a break from training you do not always have to train :-)
Hi I live in dfw, Texas. Looking to get my permit next week and take my dot physical. Do I need to get my CDL here before signing up for orientation? And will they hire someone from Texas since it’s base in SC
Yes, TMC will definitely higher in Texas. TMC is actually base in Des Moines Iowa. That’s where you are more than likely go for orientation. If you are planning to go to a CDL school in Texas, I would fill out an application with TMC about 2 to 3 weeks prior to graduating the CDL school. If you want send me your phone number and I will enter your information into our Driver Referral portal and it will send you a link to the application. :-)
Check out my very first video. It’s about orientation. You have to be able to lift 110-120lbs lumber tarp. Be able to get it on trailer. Be able to jump up on trailer from the side of trailer. Also go up tall ladder to make sure you’re not scared of heights.
Hi Adam! Yes! TMC orientation for the CDL is 3 weeks. You will not have to pay for the training instead you will get paid!! Only stipulation is that you work for TMC at least a year afterwards!
Im very interested in TMC. One question, I'm having spinal surgery in 2 weeks. Rehab estimated 2-3 months. Once im cleared to work I'd love to sign up for this. Im not sure what my limitations will be. Aside from the driving is there a lot of hard physical labor? Just wondering what I'll be up against.
Hi Michael. I wish you the best of luck in surgery. There is heavy lifting involved. We need to lift 120lbs lumber tarps up. They are even heavier when wet or frozen. Also we get on top of very high loads which takes climbing. Take a look at my very first about orientation.
@@whitecollartrucker thanks for the information brother. Im still interested but it might take me a year or so to be cleared to do that. Im sure the industry will still be hiring then. I'll be ready. And thank you for the kind words
They removed my perfectly operating LED headlight bulbs when I went in for service and replaced them with regular bulbs. I literally could not see shit at night. They were all about "safety safety safety," but screw your vision at night. I wish I could have enjoyed TMC like you do.
Yes another thing that I don’t like about TMC and them not allowing us to change the headlights for those really bad headlights that come in some of the older trucks. Good point. But rules are rules and we have to follow them.
Drives me nuts taking off all my gps mounts.. they can keep the 5 points! I keep getting 1.3 million mile beat up old trailers out of Cumberland city, that I have to take in for repairs… those are my biggest gripes
78,000 isn't a lot. I made 63,000 at home and that was at a crappy company, sort of. You worked for some cheap companies before, 89,000 isn't bad but if you have to train to get that it's not great either. I'm glad you're doing well though! Be Safe and take care!
@@whitecollartrucker That's more like it if you don't have to abuse your trainee for long team driving. Some of the guys hauling Haz-Mat will make 100k local/regional usually you have to be an owner operator and even then it's tough dealing with break downs etc. Great to hear. I started to train there but after my son was born I quit and drove local.
I'm 61 years old but still in good health. You think I can make it through the training. I'm like you and don't mind being on the road and don't necessarily necessarily need to have home time.
Yes I am still a trainer but I’m in my 2nd week with my current trainee and have a subscriber lined up to my next trainee in a couple weeks. I’m sure you’ll get a good trainer. Good luck and see you on the road.
Question is it 89k net or gross curious if we subtract referrals for someone like me Also heard a rumor that you guys don’t have apu units and can’t sleep with the ac on at night ? Is that true
89K gross. Yes that includes referrals bonuses. So 78K without them. That is correct our trucks do not have AP yes you are able to sleep with the truck running and the air conditioner going if you want to however it is frowned upon and it does hurt your miles per gallon which can affect you negatively for your percentage pay
I’m currently enrolled at cdl school and TMC is at the top of my list for employment. Glad I ran into your video. Are you OTR? I’m more interested in a regional. Can you speak for any major differences? Stay safe out there!
@@Uberchauffeur nice! Make sure to try out Bennigan’s. It’s about a 15 minute drive from hotel. Great food, great service, great prices, nice restaurant, and lots of food will definitely have leftovers!
I am about to start Diesel Driving Academy in Little Rock and they have a partnership with TMC. I wanted tanker and hazmat but I would love to learn and start out with flatbed if what you are saying about TMC is true. I am one who takes pride in how I look going down the road and I am willing to put forth the effort if the owner is willing to as well. It feels good to look good, and it makes the job easier... just my quick .02c It really helps they run Pete's! I hope they are manual.... not a fan of autos.
I really wanted to get with TMC when i first got my cdl but quickly changed my mind after talking to some of the drivers, in fact i went to orientation with an ex tmc driver that said they don't really make much. Thats why this guy is a trainer, thats how he makes "good" money but the thing thats sucks is it eventually floods the company with too many new drivers and not enough loads. 💯
😢 I start orientation Monday! I’m so nervous. I’ve heard good things and bad. I’ve heard orientation might be difficult with math test, etc… I’ve already obtained my CDL.
Nice Jeremy! Orientation isn’t hard. If you have a great attitude, learn and implement what you learn your will be fine. The math test isn’t hard. Bring a calculator. Toughest questions example: what is 26% of 75% of 3,000?
@@jskipperddg80 you’re welcome! My orientation roommate went to the boat division. If you really love long drives, love not having to secure/tarp loads, and ok with making less money than line haul boats will be great for you.

System transport is around the same too west region of the us. Year one Otr you can make around 80-90k teams get paid 1.00 per mile can make 100k+ each
I am really looking into getting my CDL through TMC bro. I already have my permit and medical on hand, what does it take for me to qualify in their program?
89k to be on the road 😳 The trucking industry has to get with it. If your not home every night and gone on the weekends anything less than 125k isn't worth it in my opinion.
@whitecollartrucker you obviously know more about the industry than me and good look to you! I was thinking about making a career change but idk after seeing what y'all make vs what you sacrifice.
@whitecollartrucker that's awesome man! I'm on the fence about changing careers and joining the industry. It sounds exciting but I feel like there is a lot of bad or misinformation online. I know I won't retire doing what I do now and I'm researching things for the future. What's your thoughts on a O/O vs company driver. Do you think trying to be an O/O these days is worth it?

hows the sound system for music i. that truck?
System is pretty good. They have a subwoofer that has a bit a bump to them.
Love watching your videos!
Thanks my dude! I just need to start making more! I leave you all hanging way too much! :-(
@@whitecollartrucker you’re golden, 1 year with TMC, try and get into heavy haul.
@@philipdru9290 I don’t know if I want to. Intimidating. Plus I don’t like having to follow the permitted routes. :-/
Do they do team drivers
TMC does not. But if you train than you are partial teams for the first 2 weeks with mandatory 6 hour stop in every 24 hour period and the next two weeks you’re full teams so truck can continuously run.
How can I become part of the driver referral program?

Nope. Road only
The face camera only turns on. When you slam on the breaks and it starts recording right away
How much is tarp pay
40 for lumber 30 for steel
Can you work over 7-10 day’s or they force you to get home time on the weekend??

Is there some place where I can see a list of terminals? I'm in Michigan
Brownsburg, IN

One question does TMC transportation have a yard in Laredo tx because I am about fifty miles from there
No they do not. :(
Does TMC do anything for me while I’m serving in the Army?
I’ll talk to them and find out thank u so much
You have to have a trainee or its up to you??
Completely up to you if you wanna train or not when you become a trainer, you can definitely take a break from training you do not always have to train :-)
What was the math test like was it hard
Not hard at all. Basic math. The hardest is something like this. What’s 26% of 75% of 4,500?
With that 89k figure how often did you go home?
I went home most weekends.
I am currently in cdl school and I’m planning coming to TMC after I graduate any advice?
Hey Shoddy! Have you filled out application already? Just have a great attitude, be willing to learn, implement what you learn. :-)
Does the medical benefits kick in fast?
I believe about 3 months. Not 💯 though.

Do drivers have to be trainers?
No.
What’s home time looking like with those numbers?
Does the company provide the trucks or that’s something we have to pay once we finish training
You are provided a truck.
Hey what’s the agility test like
Check out my very first video. It’s about orientation.
You have to be able to lift 110-120lbs lumber tarp. Be able to get it on trailer. Be able to jump up on trailer from the side of trailer. Also go up tall ladder to make sure you’re not scared of heights.
Hey man, I get my learner permit and I'm hard hearing as well, I'm live in PA and want to know if TMC worth joining for training to get CDL?
Hi Adam! Yes! TMC orientation for the CDL is 3 weeks. You will not have to pay for the training instead you will get paid!! Only stipulation is that you work for TMC at least a year afterwards!
How is tmc home time?
I agree with everything he says. Top notch company. His money figures are accurate. You can make even more
Well thank you kindly David! :-)
@@whitecollartrucker you are welcome. I have fond memories of my time at tmc.

It is best to get percentage of the load compare two cents per mile
i LIVE IN cOLUMBIA SC do you think i could go to training in Columbia?
Yes I’m pretty sure that is what will happen. :-)
what the home time like with those numbers though??
I only stayed out May, June, October, December.
Are you still working at TMC? I just started the hiring process and would like to list you as my referral
Yes I’m still here. When did you fill out job application?
How do I get you the referral?
Hey cemetery explorer! Shoot me a text 818-457-1771. I would need to put it in before you fill out application.
I heard you arent aloud to idle overnight and they don't have an APU. Is that true?
Yes that is true we don’t have APU. You are allowed to idle the truck, but it is very much frowned upon.
How do you stay cool/warm?@@whitecollartrucker

Yeah I feel you! :/
78,000 isn't a lot. I made 63,000 at home and that was at a crappy company, sort of. You worked for some cheap companies before, 89,000 isn't bad but if you have to train to get that it's not great either. I'm glad you're doing well though! Be Safe and take care!
I am very happy with it. Made 116K my 2nd year.
@@bradh74 congratulations on your kiddo! z cheers! :-)
Do you usually run? Or does being a trainer helped get you to 80k?
I'm 61 years old but still in good health. You think I can make it through the training. I'm like you and don't mind being on the road and don't necessarily necessarily need to have home time.
I think so! :-)

Yes I am still a trainer but I’m in my 2nd week with my current trainee and have a subscriber lined up to my next trainee in a couple weeks. I’m sure you’ll get a good trainer. Good luck and see you on the road.
Question is it 89k net or gross curious if we subtract referrals for someone like me
Also heard a rumor that you guys don’t have apu units and can’t sleep with the ac on at night ? Is that true
89K gross. Yes that includes referrals bonuses. So 78K without them.
That is correct our trucks do not have AP yes you are able to sleep with the truck running and the air conditioner going if you want to however it is frowned upon and it does hurt your miles per gallon which can affect you negatively for your percentage pay

😂😂 just saw his ending, my boy is desperate to get that trainer money
We all got to do what we got to do.
