Everyone keeps missing the most important first for Ncuti - he’s the first regular Doctor with facial hair.
You're forgetting the Twelfth Doctor's attack eyebrows!
He is also the first Libra.
Really? Even Dr Karen?
Matt Smith had a full on beard in a couple episodes.
That’s what keep saying. “First Doctor with a moustache”
Rest in peace, William Russell (19th Nov 1924 - 3rd Jun 2024) 💔💔💔
Here are two more Things:
First: His actual first name is *Mizero* - Ncuti is his middle name.
Second: actually, technically, his name is pronounced *[ˈnʃuːti]* , not necessarily *[ˈʃuːti]* , but that his mother only told him when he was 26, so he is very much used to the latter.
👍
Cool!
@@sheersternfeld1914 Oh, here's a third one:
Gatwa is the first actor to play the Doctor, who was born *after* the classic era had ended in 1989, as Gatwa was only born by *1992* !
@@ClockMaster-mq2hm this makes me feel old.
Even though I'm literally younger than him.
@ClockMaster-mq2hm This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Pertwee - Baker regeneration
❤❤❤ good to hear Ellie again.
I could see Ellie playing a companion in Doctor Who.
@@danielwilliamson6180I would actually watch that

It'd be really cool if they brought back Vastra!
Fun fact from one of his most prominent interviews, his first name is pronounced "N(like a shortened "in")-SHOOT-ee." He references that in his "internet most asked questions" with Millie.
Ncuti just feels like such as awesome upbeat person. Anyone that hates against him has clearly not gone through any of the struggles that he's likely gone through in his life.
As a Rwandese person and lgbtq member I know his pain and it’s so incredible to see him thrive
Please do a similar video about Millie
Yes 😊

6. I think I may have seen this in one of your other videos, but Sylvester McCoy swearing saved Sophie Aldred's life. His swearing alerted the the crew that it was not the Doctor but the actor speaking.
Ncuti Gatwa is an amazing actor, and he seems like the nicest guy you could have a chat with.
...........ok

I hadn't seen Ncuti prior to Doctor Who, and I wasn't sure of him for the first few episodes - but I'm definitely warming to him, because he's proving to be a seriously good actor. (Plus anyone who appreciates just what an amazing actor Jon Pertwee was, in his turn, has already pretty much won me over anyway. I still listen to Pertwee et al. in the BBC radio comedy series "The Navy Lark" whenever I'm driving alone in my car - I was last doing so less than three hours ago, in fact.)
The suit 15 wears in the next episode looks very 3rd doctor so I can see the inspiration
Ellie !!!!!!!!!Welcome back 😊
3:57 OK so it's Boroughmuir High School?
At first I thought Ellie said Boromir, like in LOTR 😄
SAME!
At least put a chyron on to give us Septics a proper spelling!
I think he's phenomenal. I'm very happy for his well deserved success. To paraphrase the words of another Scot from another franchise: "I will watch his career with great interest!"
I learned how to say Ncuti's name a few years ago when I started watching Sex Education and have now had to relearn how to say his name after he made that instagram video
but seriously..isn't it just the C is silent??? :)
I’m really liking this doctor, if his character arch is good I can see him being one of the best doctors we’ve ever had!
The writing is shit and he is a terrible actor
He’s good, but he will never beat Tennat, smith or Capaldi
@@Ibalistic_hedge Yeah, im not sure. I’ll have to see his whole era first.
Ellie is back 😭
What a journey, accomplishments, obstacles, and breakthroughs.
Also Ryan Gosling, a Whovian, cool cool cool
Welcome back Ellie, missed you 🥳🎉🎉🎉
I always knew Ryan Gosling was special, being a whovian explains it.
I want Sean Pertwee to play 3 in a multi doctor episode with 15
Would love to see that too but he’s said he doesn’t want to step into his father’s iconic role. I’m sure he would have because the BBC would have tried to find a place to slot Three in somewhere by now.
@gateauxq4604 understandable but very sad! He's the only one I want to see in that role 😂
He's not called sean pertwee he's called John pertwee

I love being from Glasgow and loving Doctor Who ❤️
Doctor Who has been apart of my life for so long, I've met actors of Doctor who's and been to recent Doctor who events. I wish I could appear in Doctor who 😭
Don’t we all?
Glasgow via Rwanda campest Glaswegian I have seen
Imagine an alternate universe, where Timothee Chalamet is the Doctor, and Ncuti Gatwa is Wonka....
Honestly would fw that
And in another universe, Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff is played by Karen Gillan, not Scarlett Johansson.
@@danielwilliamson6180I can’t see that because of Karen Gillian’s baby face, she would be much better as maybe Crystal the inhuman
In another Universe, Christopher Eccelston was the 14th Doctor
11. He is not a very good actor
Gatwa is also the first Doctor who's the same age as me! All previous Doctors were older than me.

Welcome back Ellie. Lovely to hear your voice again, and sooo glad you are feeling better. Lol, that must've been some Birthday celebration 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Now we just have to convince him to stay for at least 3 more series so he can get at least 37 episodes in, what with Xmas specials and all 😉
So far, Ncuti Gatwa hasn't been too bad as The Doctor. He is a good actor.
Wrong
@@robleeuknhl3345 Who asked you?
@@robleeuknhl3345 nobody cares
Just pointing out obvious false statements, he may be a good actor, but he hasn't shown it in Dr. who,
he has been awful and has zero charisma
@@robleeuknhl3345 partially correct.
Tell someone to polish a turd and it´s still a turd. Whitaker had the same problem. Actors accolades don´t help if the script is crap. Eccleston might not have charisma, at least for me, but the story was solid. Capaldis Doctor was more or less stuck in a permanent mid life crisis, which might turn off some (ok. more than just "some") but he nailed the role and everything cumulinated in Bird (best monolog ever) and the hybrid (where we find out why he was in a semi permanent MLC). As for Tennant and Smith, no comment. They did good (at least till Tennant sold out by coming back)
You're back!!!! ❤
welcome back ellie!
Yum...yum....yum.....What a delicious little Doctor Who tidbit! Thank you!!!
Anybody remembers the joke "STILL NOT GINGER"??? 😂😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed the 3rd Doctor too.
Great video!
Oh look who’s back!
Hi Ellie! Welcome back. 😊
"Big fan of the 3rd Doctor" Ah, that explains his reactions to the technology of the Time Window. It kept reminding me of Pertwee's occasional comments about the limitations of human technology. ;)
I really hope they don't have a love interest for the Doctor this regeneration. It just gets boring. It would be much more interesting for the character to see him actively denying himself a love interest, rather than falling for someone. Again. (Rose, Madame, Matron, River, Yaz...) Just give us someting new.
Agree
I'm surprised you didn't include the fact that he didn't know how to pronounce his name until a few years ago 😂
Glad youre feeling better
Ncuti was just meant to play The Doctor. He is so fun to watch!

The fact he stared with other people who were also on Doctor Who isnt that significant. Every BBC actor is on every long running BBC show at one point or another.
Yeah, like what struggling actor in the US doesn't have a Law & Order credit?
To be fair that so many of them were on a show like Bob Servant is weird.
OKH IN THe new episode rouge during the ball they had Bad guy by Billie eilish it the background on a violin!!!!!!
I just got “learned” - totally didn’t know most of this.
I am very much enjoying ruby and this Dr. A great pair.
Nice pronunciation of tootsie ( that’s not how you spell it ) Ellie
It was about time that the first animated series of Doctor Who Scream of the Shaka. To me that was a huge mistake that happened with Star Trek. Add to that Death Of Time also answers what happened between the seventh Doctor as she was the next generation of time lords as the seventh Doctor dies at the end of the story. But was back for the 1991 tv movie. So Ace took his place for a few years. There's always change within the series and I actually welcome it because it keeps Doctor Who fresh.
So far I like all of them.
Where are my fellow Rwandese person at
Welcome back Ellie.
Ncuti sd me as the Doctor. He's fantastic.
My dad went to school with jodie whittaker
Gosh i wish had him as Wonka
The one about Dundee isn't quite right, it was filmed in the ferry Which is technically in Dundee, not outside it
Yay, Ellie back
Sorry Ellie I think Rogue is the new River Song?
I am hoping that RTD has shed his enthusiasm for Disneyfied CGT, which spoiled Ncuti's earliest episodes for me. Recent episodes relying on a decent script have been much better imo.
Ncuti Gatwa can't swear in costume-- I assume that that's for any actor who is The Doctor while they are in costume. Love Ncuti Gatwa! I think he is Awesome as The Doctor. The stories this season are kind of hit and miss but Ncuti is the main reason to watch for me. And he's beautiful.
Not 100% sure but I´m pretty certain Capaldi did, And not just the "go to hell" scene with Clara.
Ellie is back she's so nice and beautiful woohoo
He said "Damn" at the end of "Dot and Bubble" though it really was called for in that instance.
In the UK "damn" is barely a rude word. According to OFCOM (who regulate things on TV etc) it's in the lowest category of rude words along with "cow"!?!
I understand in the USA it is considered more of a swear word (probably because of its religious connotations.)
@@retrogiftsuk4812 I appreciate the cultural contextualization. Just like we don't think of bloody as curse word (albeit mild,) but you do in the UK. Yes, the cult of religion has warped our sensibilities here in the US
@@retrogiftsuk4812yeah it is a weird thing how some words are ok yet others aren't u know.
The ear gets desensitised if it hears things often enough.
It's Capaldi as in PayPal - not "Capauldi".
Swearing in costume is a no no..🤐...But doing what John Barrowman 🍌 did on set is OK 😂
I believe not.
Never thought my home town of Dundee would end up a part of Doctor Who history LOL. Although alongside Ncuti, David Tennant, and Wiliam Hartnell did grace the stage of the Dundee Rep.
Matt Smith was in a movie called Lost River? That's a bit on the nose now, isn't it.
😂😂😂😂😂 I am Sorry, What?!!!
ellie back:)
Close to be homeless and he doesn't allowed to swear
Very interesting
Hi Ellie welcome back ❤
Reinventing him by making him queer?
Isn't the Doctor already bisexual/queer?
There was a hint of it between Nine and Jack.
Yes but that isn't what I think she meant. I think she meant about how doing new things with the doctor with their personality.
She might had misspoke ig
Yes and No.
Bisexual, definitly. Didn´t act on it much but it was there. With Jack? Big NO. Don´t know what exactly he called Jack but it was something along the lines of "a scar in time". Beeing sensitive to time as a timelord, Jack repulsed him. A friend, yes. Best analogy would be a BBF that works in an old style slaughterhouse when you are a vegitarian.
@@hellraider2006 no. Cause the doctor have been kissed many times by everyone and had the same reactions.
No one argued that jack and him are a couple
My first thought was is Ellie back?!
Welcome back Ellie!!! ❤❤
*Kate Lethbridge-Stewart!!!! And don't reefer Sydney Newman as co creator
Don’t refer to him as what he was? I’m confused.
(And she went by Kate Stewart in TPoT.)
@@DrWhoFanJ He created it and spoiler alert she was born Lethbridge-Stewart
@@57305northernprincess He was one of multiple people who had an integral role in creating it.
Missing the point entirely. She explicitly rejected the "Lethbridge-" for perfectly-valid reasons.
Finally Ellie is back
Yesss
No swearing in costume? Isn't that literally a Disney rule? Not saying it necessarily came form there, but y'know...
My Biggest question regarding him swearing is as follows.... This doctor doesn't have a "costume". He kinda just wears different outfits. So what is he allowed to swear in? Does he have to get naked before swearing? 🤣
Was he dressed as the doctor when he told people to touch grass?
It is now Doctor who what why
Who is that voice 0.o
I like Ncuti Gatwa
I can understand the swearing rule, what with the Disney involvement now.
What
Hasn't he cried in every episode so far? Do you think there's another reason why this Doctor cries more often or is it purely because different Doctors have different personalities and Ncuti's is just more open with his display of emotion?
It wouldn't have made sense for a black willy wonka
isn't this a little premature? His last three eps have no aired
This is lovely, but just a thing -- the Doctor has always been queer, even if they're only been played by an openly queer actor now. Also, welcome back Ellie
Not really it is just the new 2005 plus he has been that way, william hartnell- paul was more straight then anything
5:38 ok, now I want this outfit for the Doctor ❤
