- Part 2: Musical cars, getting the Plymouth Valiant off the trailer, walk around, what we know about the '62 Signet 200, what's in the trunk, and general foolishness. We love this little early a-body Mopar we pulled from a barn at a junkyard. It's cold outside!

That valiant is awesome! I love the body lines on those 62s. That would make a killer sleeper!
Hmmm, a sleeper? I have seen small block V8 engines installed, from hat I understand a big block is easier to install, flip the exhaust manifolds backwards so the outlets are in front.
When I was a little boy in Glasgow, Scotland, I would see a lot of these old late 50's and early 60's American cars with fins
that to me seemed to be huge andi was in love with them and I still am. Love your site and so pleased you are looking after these old cars. This era of automotive art will never come again and we should all revere these special cars
Thank you, it is not always easy, not a large number of parts are reproduced for these old Mopars.
Growing up, we had a next-door neighbor who had one of these. Every morning, he would start it up and gun it until it warmed up. It probably needed a new muffler because it was loud! My dad would complain to us every day about how much that guy loved his old Valiant and how loud it was.
Gun it to warm up! Never heard that before.
@@cudafry1967 My dad never heard of that either lol! Thus adding to the annoyance.
Looks like a Mopar heaven. Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
In 1969 I needed a car to head off to college (UCSB). I found an absolutely pristine '62 Signet like this one in red, inside and out. It had the 225 slant six...what a great engine...trouble-free and very torquey...the car had a three on the tree stick shift. The prior owner had added a high-end aftermarket A/C that was ice cold. The car had 82K on the clock but looked and drove like it had 20K. Loved that car and ran it up to 145K before selling it. Drove it everywhere. The unibody never displayed any squeaks or rattles. I kept it showroom inside and out. Miss that car.
Great story. Hoping ours is as trouble-free and torquey.
I love the Valiant super cool that car is going to clean up good those Rally wheels look awesome on there Uncle Tony will be drooling I like your videos already my friends working on her58 Plymouth custom Suburban two door station wagon it's got a poly 318 runs good just needs a few things has some Rust bought it from a dumb kid for $450 bucks have a great day
A '58 2 door Suburban wagon is a very cool ride, in any condition. My wagon has a 318 poly, great engine.
My father had one of these in the the U.K. Back in the early seventies it was a very cool car, i loved driving around in it with him, he had a lot of nice american cars in the late sixties / early seventies as they were quite cheap to buy due to the running cost, he also had a 61 T bird.. They dont make cars that beautifull anymore. Good luck with the restoration.
Thanks for sharing! The guy I bought it from bought a large number of those cool cars back in the day, which is why they are still in fairly good shape now. Glad he saved them!
Knew a guy back in Titusville Pa. In early 70s who had a 62 dodge Lancer. 2dr hdt. Dropped in a 340 4speed out of. Out of a dart. Maybe the whole driveline. Can't quite remember. Painted it bright yellow. And badges with R/T emblems. It looked like it came from the factory. Fast too as I recall. Miss those days.
My wife had a 62 valiant she had painted a bright yellow. She had parked it in front of the police station in Cheyenne Wyoming. She was only gone 10 minutes and when she came out the car was gone! She never saw it again and this was the early 70s. She still talks about that car to this day!
Sad story. They're still out there, problem is finding them.
Love this body style! Thanks for saving it..
Thank you! Our pleasure.
you have a selection of old Mopaes i really like the Valiant.
Love the318 poly 👍🏻💯🇦🇺
Mopar's best year---1962. Love the styling.
We agree 100%!
Love it, the sound, the look, must be a great feeling to drive such a land yacht.
Beautiful car! Inside and out!
Thank you very much, we agree, and feel very fortunate.
In Australia they were 4 door and called R series and S series.
Same shape.
I've been in contact with the Valiant club down there. They have access to patch panels, but the company that makes them will not ship outside the country.
Those cars always reminded me of the 60s Studebaker and the rear looked like a catfish!😂 but I love that car and your wagon!💗💗
Thank you!
My dad bought a 62 valiant for me for my first car. He did a new paint job on it. Dear God I miss him.
I miss Plymouth.
We had a 1960 Valiant. Yours has a much nicer interior.
I would love to have my 64 Plymouth belvedere back
Really cool spare! Great video!
Fully restored (on the outside). You could say, no expense was spared.
That's a great looking car!
Thank you very much!
That valiant has agreat interior body looks pretty solid it woodent take much to getting it looking good slant 6 can't kill them they run forever you got a few projects their time to start working on them don't let them sit good luck be looking for more on they'd gems
Interior is surprisingly good. Always working on them, decided to finally start filming. Thank you for watching!
I had a kinky slant six, one of the cyls was tied up.
Seen these R. S. Series pulling low 13 second 1/4 Mile here in Australia with triple Webers etc . Have owned many MOPARs here in Australia many slants 225 with some mods that put many V8To same . Have owned poly V8 s 383 MOPAR s 273 318 360 pacers Chargers in Australia 🇦🇺 an some very rareValiant here . Love the valiant all the best with it . Index your plugs run a 2 barrel manifold with A 350 Holley with out a choke an give the valve lash a fee extra tho inlet an exhaust . Run the same size tyres all round . 14 x7 rims use the same brand of shocks all round they will handle better . Also run the biggest air cleaner you can put on it as you engine runs like a air pump .Just some small tips 👍🏻🇦🇺💯
Thank you for the tips. I heard they offered the 'Hyper Pak' Slant 6 in '62.
Love the Valiant. My Aunt had one. That bird you were asking about sounded like a woodpecker...
Thank you. Everyone seems to have an Aunt that had one, growing up no one in my family ever had a Mopar. I think you are correct, woodpecker.
Thinking of doing a cheap diy paint job, after some minor body repairs. Should we keep the roof white?
Hey love the show it's hard to find guys into the earlier Mopar stuff. Love the cuda to I have a 69 formula s 383 fourspeed white with black stripe car all orignal paint and all it's a day two car. Was my father's
That is too cool! Gotta love the 4 speed!
i watched the first 25 minutes, I have one question, do you have any paint we can watch dry?
Absolutely! I'll get my brush out for the next video.
Obviously not a vintage Mopar fan are you mike?
Those Rallye wheels are 14 x 5.5, I had a set of those on my '68 Dart back in the day
Thank you for the info.
That brings back memories. My first car was a 62 Valiant Signet 200. Mine was white with the blue interior. The inset color in the fender trim matched the interior color. You really ought to put new 6.50x13 tires on it and use the original hub caps. That blue paint does not look original.
Wow, very cool, first car basically the same exact. I think the door jambs, underhood, trunk, are original paint.
I had a 64 sport fury with a 318 wide block poly, same color combo as your wagon.
Nice, always liked the '64 Plymouth. Guy I bought it from has a '64 Sport Fury, same colors, although inside now, it's a compete rust bucket. Shame.
The Dodge Dart, wasn't a Valiant clone until 1963. The Doge Dart, was a full size car based on Plymouths, from 1960 and 1961, midsize in 1962 in Canada.
A 'b-body' in '62 along with it's Plymouth cousin.
I think you should have more movie on the car
are you going to do something to the rear quarter panels to remove rust?
Working on getting the wheel lips from a solid car, will have to fabricate the lower rear sections.
The perfect "sleeper" to drop the Dodge1100 hp. Helephant engine into....maybe go Gasser with it...
These cars look great as gassers or race cars. This one may be too nice for that, but the '62 Lancer GT I posted a video of might be a good candidate for that.
@@cudafry1967back in the day I saw an ad for Isky cams featuring a Lancer wagon with a 383 swapped into it.
I had a 62 dart I paid 75 bucks for it the only thing holding the front seat in was the carpet leaning tower of power
Must have been some strong carpet, or not and the prior owner didn't care.
If you had a choice between this car and a 62 impala super sport which one would you take big smile
I would have to drive both, but I tend to lean towards the odd ones, so probably this car. I have a soft spot for the '67 SS 427 (technically not an Impala, but the Impala body) as when I was growing up a local guy had one.
could have been the batmobile
It’s sad that a lot of rusted through metal parts to be reworked, repaired or replaced. The back of the valiant looks like the Dodge Lancer.
Same prior owner has a 1962 Lancer, made a deal to buy it, just have not picked it up: ruclips.net/video/I6xxoLaXTaQ/видео.html
Pileated Woodpecker.
I noticed ny regy on winsheild I live on long island if you need parts I can help also I have shop Suffolk county too
@21:07 I guessed in my minor educated brain at 65 years old, bc 'homo' is to me 'same' as in homosexual.
Oxygen is [OH-2].
Two same mixtures (?). Now I need to see why 'air' isn't an Element.
Christyne
She`s charming...and the car too. :)
WORD
Good.jop 😃😃😃👍👍👍👏👏👏
The first car my wife had to drive was a black four door 60-61 Valiant with the toilet seat fake spare in the trunk lid. She called it the Batmobile. The day she received her license, another young lady was backing her new(1976) Monza out of a parking spot without looking and the Valiant tore off the rear bumper and cover with just barely a dent and scratch on the old Valiant.
Take that Monza!
Hint: Click on Settings, select Playback speed, click on "2". Make a cup of tea or grab a beer or three, and watch some guy work solo for an hour trying to get a shit box Valiant off a trailer. (Actually, it's not a bad unit, fairly straight and clean)
Love the fury wagon definitely a dream car since it's got the third row, but for now I'm on the hunt for a rust free or a rustish free 1963 dodge dart 4 door sedan 1964 would work as well. It's to restore my first car that I've owned since 12.
Thank you, third row is cool. Rustish free is all I can hope for around here. Good luck in your hunt, owned your first car since 12, commendable.
@CudaFry my grandmother bought it for me as a surprise meaning I was brought to an old passed family friend house and said I was there to pick a vehicle 1952 international pickup truck or a 1963 dodge dart 270 4 door sedan 225/6 and the pushbutton 904 automatic I picked the dart later I opened up the trunk and found all 4 original full styled hub caps I'm 41 now I just need to find something fair soon I'm not getting any younger. 4 years after grandma bought the car the gentleman who was like family passed. And 3 years after that grandma passed. So it's meaningful to me 2 great people who was there for a child.
Wow, cool find! Tail fins on the back, radio speaker that faces the passengers, bucket seats, clean dash. Love it! A shot of Rustoleum on the floors and fresh carpeting will do it for sure.
Thank you!
Don't you just love the smell of the exhaust in the morning of those old cars?
What a fantastic, beautiful station wagon!!! A poly, a push button torqueflite, it's one of my dream cars ever since I had a Maxie 63 when I was a kid
A Max '63, very cool!
I have not seen very many 2 door versions of these. They're almost always 4 door. I think this was a car that was mostly bought by very practical, sensible people who didn't have a whole lot of money. You almost never see a V8 in one either.
Way back in 1970, somebody stuffed a Hemi into one of these. It was featured in "Hot Rod".
This one looks clean enough to have the potential to be a nice little car. The Challenger rims and white letter tires look great. They give it attitude. You should keep those.
Is it a flip or a keeper?
Most everything we see on RUclips these days is a flip. I don't think too many people care much about the cars themselves any more. The holler is for the dollar.
This is a keeper. My daughter was just asking (again) today, when will it be ready for her to drive.
Love your videos when that old Plymouth is running it sounds like Cristian from the movie it's awesome 👌
Thank you for the kind words. More to come.
That sounds so much like Christine in the movie
JEES, Not what I expected, Decent cars, why live in Vermont and do this silly shuffle!
Seems you could spend better time elsewhere 🙂
We ask ourselves that all the time. Hoping to move sooner than later to a place where we can daily all of them.
The steering wheel looks like my 63 dodge just different horn center insert. Same horn half ring
I thought the horn ring looked like my '62 Dart, but not the same, different part number too.
My grandfather had the station wagon version of this beautiful beast ❤❤❤❤❤
Station wagons rule!
Can anyone tell me What is the fair cost for one of these running 1962-1963?
62 is not as desirable as later years, from what I am told, although I disagree. My understanding is a running 1960-62 is worth about 3-5 thousand, my best guess, but as usual other factors play into it, body style etc. Everyone loves a wagon these days!
@@cudafry1967 thank you so much for replying to my message. I also do prefer the earlier body style. A gentleman has a 1960 four door for sale but he does want the higher price of the range you suggest. The car will need paint, and some interior work. Car is running and is a California car, he wants $5k. I think the price is a bit high to be honest, but I don’t know much about these classics, unfortunately. Alternative, I am also eyeing a 60 studebaker gran turismo Hawk I saw in another ad. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question, very nice of you. And by the way, I am truly enjoying the restoration you are doing on your valiant for your daughter.
Man you got some cool old cars!
Thank you very much.
Love all your cars.
Thank you very much!
Im sure Corvair's out sold these these up to 1967.
Not sure, my guess is yes. My neighbor has a few Corvairs, they are cool, one is a convertible. I've only seen one other '60-62 Valiant, it was a '61 4 door, never really liked them, change of heart I guess. Didn't like the '62 Dart either, now I think it is one of the greats.
@@cudafry1967 They were a poor peoples car no class no style 50 years ago.
Valiant did outsell Corvair in 1964 (251,028 to 191,915), 1966 (138,137 to 103,743) and 1967 (108,969 to 27,253). All production numbers were pulled from "The Encyclopedia of American Cars 1940-1970". Though my guess to the lower sales numbers for Valiant would be competing against it's cousin, the Dart for those years.
@@NewbombTurk. hey now, I was making a point, ok my friend bought a 64 in 1968 for 400$ yes he was a neard.
@@allenschmitz9644 Just providing a little context ;) You can definitely tell Nadar's book had an influence on sales. Dodge and Plymouth always leeched off each other's sales. Oh, and I'm a Mopar guy ('68 Dart).
Coronet seems to have a very big misfire... timing might be off
We will check that, among other things, more to come. Thank you for watching.
Boring
two doors are sweet! and the redesigned rear was much more pleasing to the eye
We agree!
