Stiff Upper Lip Live at Letzigrund Stadion in Zurich 20.06.2001
You Shook Me All Night Long Live at Letzigrund Stadion Zürich
& Last TV Show with Bon Scott, Beating Around The Bush (Feb. 1980)
I love that Malcolm is not boasting about his own playing or style but he should be because he's the best at rhythm guitar r.i.p. Mal
Malcolm's humility is unsurpassed. The whole group, really. It's refreshing.
I think the greatest character trait you can have, especially if you are rock star famous, is humility. It makes good people love you.
I never followed the band early on. Now, almost 60 years old I am really listening and watching these old videos. I get such a feeling of endearment and respect between them. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I love how Angus and Malcolm never stop talking about how much they admire each other’s contributions to the band rather than their own. They were the ultimate bromance in rock lol. Literally!
That's a bloody good point Malcolm makes about Angus's ability as a guitarist... he is one shit hot rock guitar player and one day the world will regard him as one of the very best there ever was. It's easy to miss just how good he is as a player, as his guitar work has always pretty much been overshadowed by his showmanship, which in itself is phenomenal..
I especially like his blues playing, like in The Jack. What a great blues song
your right mate.
I think Angus is the best live guitarist ever. Simply because he never makes mistakes. He plays his solos with a bit of a sloppy feel by the man is a machine. In fact that is what made AC/DC the greatest live act ever imo. None of them ever mess up.
hes a virtuoso, theres been others, but hes the greatest one performing right now. not many people can command an audience with a musical instrument like he does, hendrix is the only one I can think of
Yelling Elk myesm ! 😏kwim ?one of a kind that rnr band.
What a down to earth guy malcom was and a true professional, a rock legend i still can't believe i'm talking about him in the past tense we miss you man.
RIP. Malcom Young.
Miss Malcolm so much 😔
The best Malcolm Young interview yet.
Malcolm was the best. R.I.P.
6:08 Mal nailed it..Phill Rudd is the real deal. He's the best rock and roll drummer of all time. Phill is the ooomph..
Malcolm Young - underrated
Ted Danson god rest malcolms soul. Rest in peace malcolm
I really miss Malcolm Young. I miss being young. I say it today, and I'll say it at the end. Far and away, that was my band.
Malcolm is such a humble guy....hope he can recover or have a quality of life beyond Acdc.
Very grounded Angus
Malcolm won't recover. He'll be dying soon.
@@afistfulofpimples1745 he already did die, RIP
It really doesnt get more down to earth pure Rock n Roll honesty than that
This is a very telling interview. The way Angus describes it it seems like Malcolm is the quality control and brains behind the music. I'm not sure they can deal with his loss beyond this next tour as far as new material is concerned.
Yep... Malcolm was always the driving engine of that band, right from the beginning he's always been the one who swung the axe so to speak. I agree... can't see em going that much longer without him. But we could be wrong... who knows?
Yelling Elk my all time favourite guitarist dude,,,love ya mal.
that is a bloody good point ya got there mate.
Malcolm Young & his working class wisdom...
Acdc got me through so many rough times in my life when I lost my dad my grandpa my brother when my health went to hell I lay in a hospital bed and couldn't move I had my wife play acdc for me and whala here I am I love you guys with all my heart and soul thank you for always being there and for making me feel like you were playing just for me
Malcolm was not underrated nor he could have cared less for being rated at all. By being so insightful and having effortless and organic understanding of what the Rock 'n' Roll really is all about, as much as the business aspect of the showbusiness, he added his intuitive compositions and riffs to the whole picture. He was a genius.
The best hard rock swing band of all time it's that groove its unique that's why we love them down to earth no b.s.
Other than maybe Charlie Watts, Ringo, and when he wanted to, John Bonham, no one else has that swing to their playing like Phil Rudd. Most drummers don't have it. You either do, or you don't. I've been a drummer for over 30 years, and hell I don't have it either.
It's amazing how humble the Young brothers are, and how much respect they have for each others playing. Here Malcolm talks about how Angus might go down as the greatest ever. You listen to Angus and he does nothing but praise Malcolm's playing. Said that Malcolm could easily do what Angus does, but he couldn't do what Malcolm does. I believe that, because Angus is hyper. He wouldn't have the patience to be a human metronome, like Mal, and keep perfect time. He needs to go off on a tangent. I'd just say that they are the greatest lead and rhythm guitar duo ever to play. Malcolm is the cake and Angus is the icing.
I wonder what collectively their take would have been on the Towson State College show- Malcolm says here that live it’s tough to hear what Angus does on stage- that show was super tight, and the energy was relentless. I heard an interview once where Malcolm said, “You live for the nights where the band is really cookin’” and that’s one of them, without question.
Malcolm Young Forever!
Malcom: The greatest rythym guitarist there is
Tony Cummins Always
and ever !
let there be roooooock !!!!!
The best “ live band “ there was, is, every will be. I play AC/DC 95% of the time will driving. My kids by age of 4 could recognize AC/CD songs on the radio.
Malcolm, the heart and soul of AC/DC.
RIP GREATEST RHYTHM GUITARIST MALCOLM
i like alot of bands . but i love this band. THIS BAND YES
I cant stand Malcolm's gone. It hurts. Contacts float everytime i think about it
fantastic interview. great to hear from phil rudd and malcolm. thank you very much
Get well soon Malcolm best wishes to you and ur family. And for Phill he's a fuckin machine on the drums and as for angus young he's a fuckin great guitarist to both young bothers are underrated but in my books they are number 1
The one thing that makes me upset about these interviews is that when you hear Malcolm speak or you see footage of Bon Scott, they are no longer with us,it makes you feel sad😢The only original members that are still in AC/DC Today is Brian Johnson and Angus Young,it makes you appreciate the years of enjoyment they gave us fans, I hope to enjoy many more years of it,as they cannot be replaced 😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rare to see an interview of mal by himself
That was the best interviews ! Thank you love your work.
Thank you Malcolm from the music
" technically, Ive got a few problems as a drummer"..Phil is funny!
That is funny, but goddamn...
Phil has THE sweetest, smoothed 4/4 back beat I've ever heard. I love good technical drumming, but NO drummer I've heard has ever played a solid 4/4 back beat as smoothly and powerfully as Phil. The man is a metronome.
as good as it gets.
AC DC Forever
wow thanks for posting this interview!! I have never heard Malcolm say how important Phil is to the sound of acdc..it just doesn't have that umpth… without Phil.
My second ac/dc show with my dad 20.6.2001, a few days before my 11 birthday. Rocking on the right side of the stage on the 3 row.
Never forget that day with megadeth and offspring as support.
Got me hooked, never missed a show in switzerland since then!!
This might be the best AC/DC interview on youtube. It's so refreshing to hear them say things that AC/DC fans have not heard 1000+ times before. Thank you for posting this!
Those Young boys all talented
Just awesome!!!!!
I have flaws in my drumming ability that I can cover playing in AC/DC ... Ha, great Phil Rudd comment ... he is a machine!
Mal is spot on about Ang here. One day they’ll know. Ang is THE master
Mal was so modest.
I love that band since 1977 becoming humble hard workers, this interview is typical for ac / dc stand up for each other and are good friends
since 1973
This is probably one of the best interviews with the band that I have seen. I guess Chris Slade's take on Phil was dead on, other than he thought Phil came to the NZ concert looking for his job back. Sounds like Malcolm called him and asked him to come back into the band. I guess I can't blame Chris for telling them to take their job and shove it either. Jimmy Page and Elvis Presley both recognized Slade's skills. Page ought to know a good drummer when he hears one. Phil is kind of like an old Model T. Not very reliable, needs worked on constantly, prone to frequent break downs, but people remain loyal to, and have a soft spot in their hearts for it.
AC/DC and Chris Slade are on good terms though. He just wasn't happy when they contacted Phil about a jam session. I know Slade had a lot of good things to say about Malcolm when the news broke out that he had dementia.
Who in the hell disliked this? This is Gold!
agree mate
and vice versa, keith richards and company are huge fans of mal and company. ;) that's why the rolling stones invited the young brothers onstage to play with them in concert, because they respect ac/dc as one of the few remaining, true, original rock 'n' roll bands out there.
There are very few bands that I would say that I actually love but AC/DC certainly fits the bill. I can still remember riding with my buddies to a skating rink to hookup with some girls and Drexel popping in Dirty Deeds. Life changing in many ways.
I love this interview stuff, thanks!
Malcolm = beast
= dead.
Man, what happened to Phil Rudd in recent years. He looks healthy in this!
Mal is a guitar genius
Thanks
The best thing to come out of Australia
Scotland actually
@@martymartin2894 why do scots hate themselves so much they need to take credit for what came out of australia over 40 years ago. Their first and best 6 albums were recorded there. It seems young scots who weren't even born when bon died have no shame in claiming other peoples success as theirs. The thick aussie accents of angus, malcolm, bon, phil and the multitude of former aussie bass players and drummers before 1977 probably explains why wiki disagrees with you. They are indeed the best thing to come out of oz
so awesome to hear phil rudd talk. and this really should be re-titled as "malcolm young interview with guest appearances with his band mates
I wish I could play like Angus.
*bows down*. and the subtitles are actually good. Not that I need them but most of the time Dutch subtitles suck.
Thank you so much for this!
A time when musicians actually had talent and not fakery for marketing.
Ac dc is fuckin epic cant wait for a new album
Angus and Malcom!
LOL ..Phil Rudd you dont have to defend the way you drum..love that part..hes a human metronome..
He's a real hot potato .!!! They are normal good guy's and deserve everything there show's on stage are unbeatable.......
They might be talking about making a cup of tea” fucking hell angus that was shite” you can’t bullshit family and you look to family for the truth about anything you do and it kept them grounded.
Noel and Liam should take a leaf out their book. All very strong personalities who had great respect for each other. Malcolm could have sold ice to an eskimo.... was a great character, sadly missed
I just realized I haven't properly obsessed over AC/DC . I only ever knew highway to hell and Back in Black.
I've listened to the earliest albums now, and i think they were better than the BIG TWO .. lol
Way better R `n` R band than the Stones easy, and Australian yea, rock on Acca
Oh shit!!! Where you do find this stuff??
the swing
Malcolm is a fucking god!
No, he is quite retarded now.
@@afistfulofpimples1745 and in years to come we know how good you were Malcolm AC DC young
Great :)
Angus telling us in his modest way that bands like Dream Theater over play everything!
Hell of a band..but Angus is "da man". It all starts with him.
I appreciate your point, but Malcolm is more responsible for the rhythms that you like. They are just great people. The whole lot.
What channel/program was this taken from, seeing as the subs are in Dutch.
A shame they didn't interview Cliff.
PHIL. FINALLY. SPOKE. WAT, DA. :O
Well,,, it would have been ok for Brian to not ever sing bon songs.. they are different.. but also equally great...
Timefly
Malcolm seems to be sick :(
No, he normally looks like that.
Who are the people to down vote AC/DC?
Dany’el there Douche nozzles!
Brian Johnson is the least deserving member of the clan
hes so thin now an pasty lookin anyone can tell he aint well there
Wrong. He was that way all the way through.
Ryan H Thats actually true. Still i hope he gets better. Would be a shame if the band were no more. He's defo the core member of AC/DC.
I just like watching Malcolm speaking... he was such a smooth guy... Im sad that I wont be able to see him live with the rest of the band
Milan Herich I saw them live in Sydney in 91 I think, memory isn’t what it used to be, and that was the best concert I’ve ever seen in my life.
He never wanted the attention, just wanted to play, that, I think, says it all about him, RIP Malcolm.
I've never seen that interview before, really enjoyed it and I agree with Malcolm people don't realise how good angus is.
It really touches me when angus said "When Malcolm says it's good, i know it's good."
With Malcolm gone, being the leader of the band, how will the band be sure if their work is good?
Of course, we as fans love it, and i absolutely love Play Ball and Rock or Bust already, but how will Malcolm experience this?
***** There isn't a song called "Man Down" on the track listing. There is a song called "Hard Times" that could possibly be about the current situation.
@@patorr69 your absolutely right bro brian johnson said in 2013 they were throwing around the idea of man down
Malcolm is so right about Bon's lyrics.
Sure, they're dirty and sleazy, but there's a really beautiful sort of blue-collar poetry to them if you read them. Songs like Down Payment Blues and Ain't No Fun (Waiting Around to be a Millionaire) have a real wistful yearning to them. Funny, but poignant at the same time.
I think he could've really gone on to do more amazing things lyrically had he lived.
Couldn't agree more.
He should have gone solo to open up the doors to more different genre and also to clear up is health. but yes
He was in the fast lane... on the highway to hell
Starting with “It’s a Long Way to the Top”, including “Touch Too Much”; “Sin City”: and many more.
Love Malcolm
Loved what Malcolm said about Angus in the end of this video and it's true. Angus is capable of so much more than we know him for, but it's time for him to break out of that damned shell once and for all and show it. They need to release the new album, tour it, then Angus come out with a solo release that will blow everybody's mind with him playing shit other than what people would be expecting to hear from him. " C'mon, Angus, let 'er rip !!! Give us some Robin Trower type shit.
***** Hey, there's an idea. A Robin Trower / Angus Young collaboration album. Trading licks back and forth. That would be so awesome.
+ReneeNme I reckon Angus one day will do exactly that. Make a solo guitar album of his own... just to show what a complete guitarist he actually is. I imagine it may likely be a blues based album... really ripping in with his own brand of raw feel and emotion. I'd love to hear that!
Not a stuckup band at all. None of these guys have ego problems. Unusual for rock bands but that's why they're still playing...
Love the respect these brothers showed for one another❤️
Get well soon Malcolm!
Just straight up in your face Kick Ass Rock and Roll no sad sappy love songs just pure high energy Rock and Roll like Malcolm said.
most vocal I have ever seen Malcolm
🎸🔥AC⚡ DC FOREVER 🤘🎸🔥!
So Many Great Memories from 77 to 2008 I have 18 Shows on 12 Tours only 88 I missed and 2015 Which for me Was A ? Brian Angus Cliff ,No Phil And Malcolm Gone I Am Glad I Saw them Before All Came Apart ,Hope They Are Doing Well ,Retired I Am Sure Was Not Easy Esp the Way it's been Since Malcolm was out of the Picture
I really wonder.. why don't they re-record the albums like fly on the wall, with phil, or razors edge with phil. how fucking awesome would that be!
You got me man , I never thought anyone else could have thought that exact thing. Fly on the wall with Phil would be a blast . Blow up your video , razors and why not Who made who and big gun ;)
But, by listening to the whole Black Ice album and to Play Ball even, I can totally tell it sounds like a high quality Fly on the Wall. And I read they were producing that album back in 1985 on their own.
Maybe back then they didnt have the right mastering engineer.
To me, Play Ball and Stormy May Day has the exact vibe of Fly on the Wall
***** brenden o'brien and mutt lange are a joke, their production sucks, it's a joke. Vanda & Young, THAT'S the production that you want. Listen to Powerage and then Highway To Hell, or Stiff Upper Lip then Black Ice
Malcolm is humble and realistic.
Malcolm's the fuckin' real deal!
Angus McKinnon Young (Glasgow, Escocia, Reino Unido, 31 de marzo de 1955)
People tend to think that AC/DC is Angus' band, but it isn't. It's Malcolm's. He was definitely the leader and shot caller, although he did ask for Angus' opinion on most everything. One of the greatest rhythm guitarists ever. RIP Mal. Thanks for the great music!
The whole band is do humble. The young brothers who live and respect each other. Marvelous
