- Poet Amanda Gorman revealed the amusing conversation between President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama she overheard at the Inauguration. The 22-year-old also talked about what it was like getting ready for the big day and how she felt becoming the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history.

Speaking as a black single mother. As I listened to Amanda I felt so proud of her. She was given the opportunity to be herself and the brilliance came out undeniable for all to see. Might I add there are so many more of our children out there with their brilliance, waiting and wanting to shine in positive lights and not the stereo type image which has tarnished us for centuries.
Like Maya Angelou said, I rise. And she did rise that day. Nice girl.

@James Quinlan She is a performer, not just a scribbler at a table writing for a book. Such a public performance is rehearsed a lot before one goes onto the stage at a presidential inauguration with 33.8 million TV viewers. And what does it matter that you watched her performing while being in China? Must be great and make you proud to live and work in a country which builds concentration camps for the Uygur, just to mention one of its atrocities. I would not have commented on your reply, every one has the right for his own opinion, if it had not been so condescending and arrogant.

Three women sat together in an urban living room watching the inauguration, from three separate communities, Black, Latina, Jew...Citizens, immigrants, our tears came through our smiles - what a joyous moment to share. Amanda's poems💕 are exponentially an expression of "EMOTIONS." I have to engage my real feelings when I hear her poems. Her poems are as a formal dance around our emotions obtaining an engaged audience while also stimulating our brain. Emotion on its own is mere sentimentality.
