@Richard Pierpoint - “Wise beyond her years” is a reference to her youth, which is almost always accompanied with beauty. I know a 6 year old who is wise beyond his years...but it doesn’t make him a good poet.

@@elizabethstuart8401 good call Dr Biden. But who wouldn’t choose Garth to sing? He’s always the best. My favorites are thunder rolls and rodeo, but not good choices for an inauguration.
Listening to Amanda Gorman, you cannot but see the stark difference in standards between her and Trump's Kayleigh (Barbie) McEnany, both from Harvard. You get this feeling that one got there by her own merits, the other, I suspect, just like the Orange Buffon, got someone to sit for her SATS. It's like chalk and cheese. Harvard, Amanda just redeemed your reputation. Ms. Gorman is the real deal!
I watched the inauguration yesterday and found Amanda's poem completely and utterly captivating, it spoke of hope on many different levels and after a year that has been horrific around the World...not just in the US...it shone a light, albeit a small one, at a very dark time. Oh, and I loved this clip...it was difficult to tell who was more awestruck at times to be in the presence of the other, that is a recipe for a brilliant interview.

I teared up when she told the story ending with not wanting to be those two black girls getting caught for trespassing to give James a hug. I've never had the balls to be who I know I am because of the colour of my skin, I try to not stick out blend in and be a quiet success because if I'm too loud they'll take me out because I'm too brown.
@M M Apparently, irony is lost on you, because life is full of cliches, which is why they exist. You're entitled to your opinion, but to say that it wasn't good, is disingenuous of you and frankly, it shows your inability to recognize individuality and freedom. Poetry is about self-reflection, expression, sharing, promoting, and indelibility and she mastered that perfectly.
@M M You clearly missed my point and you're struggling too hard to dissect her work due to your inability to accept differences. Who rejected your writings? Apparently, someone relevant to you has never encouraged you to be original. It's very unfortunate, but you have such a negative disposition and an even more negative future, if you don't remove the black shades from your mind that are blocking your blessings.
So glad you had her on the show! A born National Treasure! She's just so great, it was wonderful to watch this interview and I cannot Wait to see what she creates next. Love!!
I am, and have been, totally enthralled by this phenomenal young lady for a week now. I have literally watched and listened to her poem repeatedly since the inauguration, as I just can't get enough of it. She's absolutely dazzling and to know she's overcome a speech impediment is just... I have no words! As a man who used to have a severe stuttering problem when I was a teenager and into my early 20's, I just can't imagine the strength it took for her to do this. There just aren't enough adjectives to describe her wonderfulness. She has an incredible future and I can't wait to donate to her presidential campaign! WOW!!
While I was listening to her, I was thinking about those who stormed the Capitol. It is so sad that those people call themselves the American patriots. This wonderful young woman gave so many people joy and hope. What can they give? Only hatred.
Absolutely lovely. Not only Amanda who cannot be praised enough, but just to watch James Cordon so excited, I was afraid he would slip off the edge of his seat every time was so much joy! Thank you for this moments!
In the last few weeks, Amanda has really become one of my largest inspirations. I've already memorized The Hill We Climb, I've binge watched every RUclips video or interview she's in, I've read so many of her extraordinary poems, and I even ordered her book. I love this woman.
Like President Biden overcoming a stutter, here we see one of the most vibrant young voices who spoke so eloquantly despite the former challenges. Good stuff, and great choice by Team Biden.
It's amazing how the Lord takes our weaknesses, our shortcomings, and failures and displays " His Perfect Strength " to us. What an exchange!!!!! No matter what anyone may say or how things look in the natural realm, God is at work. Sometimes during our dark days, God may seem to be so far away. But actually, He is closer when we are " in the valley of the shadow of death." He never stops working in our lives, for He always gives us " beauty for ashes." During this pandemic, He has spoken to our hearts through many touching songs, dances, and poems and other types of writings. In this clip, He used Amanda Gorman to breathe healing, rebuilding, and " Hope" into our atmosphere. He, indeed, is a mighty God.

@@Flipper86 Fine. Bring the Main Poet Laureate and let's see who kills it the most then. Talk about friendly competition
Her poem was the highlight of yesterday's inauguration (other than Bernie Sanders' mittens!) Seriously though, what a beautiful brilliant voice.
Much love and admiration from italy
Ya but a man who can rock mittens is a rare breed 😂😂

She is absolutely magnificent. Every time she speaks she has everyone enraptured by her words of hope.
Amanda is the therapy all of America needs after the last four years of trauma.
Wow, even in her normal conversation, she sounds poetic. What an amazing talent.
As a teacher I’m so proud of this accomplished young lady and as a mum I’m just so damn excited for her future!
She’s so brilliant, such an inspiring young leader, she has my vote!
Mine too.
She captured the entire world... This inauguración, even though was without a traditional attendance, felt really like one of the best ever...
I am not in to poetry but I when I saw and heard her saying the poem, at the end I was speechless and i was like whooooaaaaa this was so deep, incredibly and powerful. Stunning young woman
I almost forgot I could cry without experiencing pain, her poem was so inspiring 💗
Wise beyond her years. Among Americas great poets and word-smiths.
Magnus - Haven’t we heard all this before? Kind of interesting that her age and “beauty” comes up more than the “poem” itself.
@Richard Pierpoint - “Wise beyond her years” is a reference to her youth, which is almost always accompanied with beauty. I know a 6 year old who is wise beyond his years...but it doesn’t make him a good poet.
I'd translate that kids' book into Finnish, for free, just to get to chat with her about the quirks and nuances of her words and thoughts. What a humble and humbling young superstar.
That would be AWESOME !😍
If this is the way kids around the world black and white, rich or poor, (and she isn't a kid anymore, she is 22) are being brought up the world will be a better place in the next generation.
If we cultivate our youth invest, in education and opportunity, we have a lot of very brilliant young people in America and around the world but we have forgot that they are truly our best and only hope for a better tomorrow and to improve life on this planet.
@@letticecorless5520 Bang on. Amanda is half my age, half as half-witted, and I feel much safer around her than any of "my own," i.e., badly aged white dudes. Jonathan, the next generation has a very low bar to hop over and youngsters like Thunberg and Eilish make me weirdly hopeful.
@@MonsieurSkeep I can quote you on that! What a queen this young lady is. Gives hope for the future even up here in the cold north.
Man... Amanda Gorman... what an unbelievable talent she has to get the right words across - I love this kid! LOVE
I’m so starstruck after watching. So much poise and confidence. Ananda is a vivacious intelligent role model for young women. Can’t wait to see more.
Please have her on again. She’s such a gift!
This young woman is truly special. I just realised that even with as many interviews that she has been giving, she always shares something new. So you don't feel like you're watching the exact interview time and again.
There is this feeling inside myself, hearing and seeing this lady, that style, intelligence, optimism and beautiful words and sentences are back. It gives me more positive feeling about the future. She is a great person and will be an even greater in the future. This is a future leader.

Dr.Biden is also the reason Garth Brooks was there.
@@elizabethstuart8401 good call Dr Biden. But who wouldn’t choose Garth to sing? He’s always the best. My favorites are thunder rolls and rodeo, but not good choices for an inauguration.
Exactly what I was thinking. Dr Biden made a great choices
@@franko1904 oh, so right! One is the shade the other the light.

“Let yourself be a vessel for the poem” ❤️ spoken like a true artist and a wise human being.
Well structured message, you made my day.
She’s had a busy day with many interviews, with her words of hope. She’s brilliant and lovely and I’m Crazy over her. I want to hear more of her poems. The Inauguration was more amazing because of her contribution. She was the highlight for me.
She's such an inspiring person! I loved her poem. I remember she left quite an impression back in May when John Krasinski was doing his youtube show and Oprah joined the zoom call. I see brilliance, excellence and positivity radiate from her, she's gonna go places and the world is already better for it!
I knew I’d seen her on something else - it was some good news! Thanks.

I'm 65 y.o. Poetry for me has been Robert Frost, until yesterday when I witnessed Amanda Gorman deliver "The Hill We Climb". Now I realize that it is doubtful I will be alive to witness the tremendous things this incredible person will accomplish in the course of her life. That thought deeply saddens me.

I can not imagine the hole that rest inside of your body and spirit to dislike this video. You really need to check yourself.
It's PR nonsense. If it balances it out, I disliked the Captain Tom hysteria too.
@M M your comment wasn’t good either!

But actually, He is closer when we are " in the valley of the shadow of death." He never stops working in our lives, for He always gives us " beauty for ashes."
During this pandemic, He has spoken to our hearts through many touching songs, dances, and poems and other types of writings.
In this clip, He used Amanda Gorman to breathe healing, rebuilding, and " Hope" into our atmosphere. He, indeed, is a mighty God.
In Christ we are more than conquerors.
