  • The barrels were dry, but the nose cones had about half a cup of water in each.
What did I learn this outing?
    1) Even a small boat is difficult to handle on a windy day. I need to get out there early b4 the wind picks up.
    2) The boat ended up much heavier than I thought it would.
    3) The chair must be anchored down to the deck.
    4) My 45lb trolling motor uses 40 amps at full at 12v giving me just under 500watt power drain on batteries. Theoretical range for two 6v golf cart batteries = 5hrs at full speed. = plenty.
    5) My 45lb trolling motor struggles to move upwind even on days like this where I wouldn't say it was high wind. It will do it, but best to travel upwind direction in morning b4 wind increases and then can travel downwind on the way back to the truck.
    6) The steering was too sensitive. Need to make the board that is clamped to trolling motor shaft longer so that less movement to the trolling motor is realized for a given pull distance on the steering rope.
