  • I ran my 45lb minn kota (12v) with three 6v golf cart batteries at 400 watts for 6hrs.
You can't use all the throttle when doing this! I used a meter to keep it at 400 watts or less
It does need active cooling if you run this hard for more than 2 hrs. I used a water bottle and sprayed the under side of the control case.
At this rate, I had 9 hrs of battery and was running around 4mph for a range of about 36miles.

thx! I am running again this year with a 24v 70lb trolling motor with an 8s lithium ion home built battery of 8kw and having a great time. I have found that you can run at about 500-600watts and go 4mph, but you don't get much faster even if you double the watts. So 550 watts is kinda the sweet spot.At that 4mph, and the 8kw battery, I can go for about 14.5 hours, but that most I have done is about 7hrs at that pace. But everything stayed cool, which is the main thing I am trying to accomplish.
