If you were addicted to Xanax getting back on a benzo doesn't feel right.

I’ve relapsed twice thinking I could just take one k pin and be fine. I don’t think many people should be taking benzos at all let alone if it’s your drug or choice

I agree in an AA sense or a broad sense. If you’ve managed to successfully get off these horrible drugs best to avoid ever taking them again, BUT, if your brain is so badly damaged that you cannot function I personally would hope there would be a therapeutic amount that could be taken to avoid disability.

Taking clonazepam or diazepam, instead of xans, and tapering off is what worked for me. 1 year clean from them, just relapsed :(

Sorry to hear that you have relapsed. How were the withdrawal symptoms while tapering? Did you have to deal with insomni? I'm dealing with this right now. I'm on 0.25mg Xanax and having a challenge getting off. Any feedback from you would be great.

@@chryst9876 quite mild to be honest. Had some strong anxiety peaks though, and some constant "lacking something" feeling, obviously insomnia. My consumption wasn't very prolonged but it was acute, the physiological withdrawal lasted about 3-4 weeks. You can do it man!!
By the way for how much time and how many did you took them?

  • @lisasmith7066

I wish more doctors understood the complexity of benzodiazepines. They DO have horrible withdrawals if abused BUT some people need them (if they can carefully take them and be honest with their doctor). Just a laypersons agreement and .2 cents. But stay away from Xanax. Too strong and leaves your system very quickly. 🙏

@@roserose-lb6qf I’m not a doctor but I’ve never heard of Alprazolam being prescribed in micrograms? Maybe at home for an attempted long taper? .25 milligrams is the lowest dose that I’m aware of. For any tranquilizer to be therapeutic the type and the dosage simply has to alleviate the patient’s negative symptoms. Tolerance also factors in.

Man I wish I could find a doctor that you could talk to about anything. Most the time it's with Valium, or Klonopin that's used in recovery. I was on Klonopin and had my take homes, then this Dr came to the clinic and told people that were on benzos and methadone to pick one or the other. He had no idea about the bad feelings involved with being in Klonopin for so long. He was a jerk..I wish I could see Dr B.. Babe

It will be a week tomorrow I stopped, I was at 6mg and was a crazy person well also at 36, 24,16,12... I arrived at the clinic at exactly 11:00 they close at that time but usually keep it open 5 minutes later for the scragglers, there were about 8 other people that didn't get dosed that day. I went home and said I`ll just wait and see what happens. Next day I was fine and I have not gone back there since. The whole take home system is messed up. With Covid everyone got take homes it proved we are not 5 years old.

@@analogueoverdigital929 My clinic is so old and they been the only ones, them and this one other place a street over and the VA. Now that theirs finally a ton of competition, they're not used to that and they're struggling to keep clients so now they made it ok to smoke weed and take prescribed amphetamines but no benzos, which is so dumb. Like take home or not I'm still going to be taking the benzos either at the clinic or at home, so what's the difference on getting the take homes or not. You're just saving me the time and gas money by giving me a take home. I'm still gonna do what I do. Yes I was on Klonopin prescription back from 2011-2018 and the Dr they brought in made me get off them and said choose one or the other. So basically they were saying screw your panic disorder and anxiety and take methadone or keep the stuff for my anxiety and end up dead from an overdose especially with these fentanyl pills and dope.

    • @manicmurph
      @manicmurph Год назад

@@MichaelCriscuolo-n2k yes they can but that's why the doctor has to keep an eye on you and I just don't think they feel like doing that. I mean if I been on benzos with methadone for basically almost the whole time I been at the clinic (Nov 2009) and I never abused them cause I know you can die. They're letting people take amphetamines but not benzos. I been smoking weed for a long time there after I realized how much of a bitch it was to get and keep your take homes nowadays. I used to have a weeks worth of take homes (the most you could get at that time) and now you can get up to 28 a month. So basically all that shit they preach about being sober is all crap especially if you use weed. Weed has absolutely no interaction with methadone. So does Adderall or amphetamines. Not good for your cardiovascular system and it's like taking a speedball. Our clinic is so desperate for clients to not leave cause of all the other clinics popping up, they're panicking and thinking of anything they can do.

I have struggled so very bad because of so much misinformation, beliefs, misconceptions. I have severe anxiety and so many people acted like I was just being manipulative when I needed my benzodiapine. I found a Dr who allowed me to be honest with him about everything. He specialized in addiction. Yes he monitored me carefully.
He always said " I'd way rather be treating you for anxiety, then seeing you on herion and all that that comes with"
Even with him on my side. So so many ppl shamed me, shunned me, pressured me to get off of them.. I took 2mg a day.
    With is wrong with ppl?.
Imagine, now I am a productive member of society,a functional mother.... And ppl are hung up on 2 mg of a benzo....
    So sad & dangerous mentality!

I’m so glad I found this. I have been tapering for 6 month’s. Doctor switched me to diazepam for next 4-5 month’s, depending on how long it takes me. I was a work and started shaking, my chest hurt, I started sweating and could not breathe. I suffered like this for an hour. I broke down and took 1 mg of klonopin. It all went away in an hour. I felt so ashamed. I’m not so worried now.
I have been on 2-3 mg klonopin for 20 year’s. It has been a difficult taper. I wish I could just jump off.
Now that I’m getting to the end my body is really having a hard time. It’s scary. Im so close but it feel’s so far away.
    Update:
diazepam is awful! My body is not used to it so I’m going have to continue my taper with klonopin. I never felt so out of control of my body. I’m so disoriented I don’t feel like I’m actually here. Disconnected. Cannot wait to get diazepam out of my body. Get stabilized on the klonopin and continue my taper.

If you had a xanax addiction, to the point of having seizures if you didn't take them, i would strongly advise you stay away from Benzos altogether (after being safely tapered off of them). I used to have a severe xanax addiction and many years down the road, i took a benzo for maybe 3 days. I had withdrawal symptoms like crazy once I stopped. I don't know if its because my brain remembered the addiction or something but it was wild. Of course this is anecdotal but i just don't think it's wise at all. You need to learn how manage your anxiety another way. Because all you are doing is making yourself worse at managing anxiety. That's my opinion anyway.
