- Waiting 14 months for my truck I did a ton of research on RUclips. In this video I’ll show you a few of the things I was wondering about that I could not find anywhere. Hope you enjoy this video!
Here’s the list in this video. Subscribe so you don’t miss part 2!
Antenna bends a lot.
Stickers peal right off no problem.
Engine bay not painted.
Connect truck to home Wi-Fi.
The screen is not at all finger print resistant.
Key thing under cup holder mat.
A cab wing is available from Ford to add some flair.
The sheet aluminum is wavy on the doors.

You can add just the auto start stop switch back in if you want.
It doesn’t stay in sport mode when shut off.
Turning headlights work really well
Shifter cubby hold fries perfectly.
Exhaust rattle is a real thing.
Tailgate handle button is really hard to push when down.
Tailgate step is amazing.
Extra set of fog lights stay on in the daytime if you don’t turn the switch off.
No meaningful storage behind rear seats.
Can’t even drop the drivers side rear seat back.
Bed cleat screws will rust and seize in place.

• I Bought A Ford Raptor...
The keyhole in the cupholder is if the battery is dead in your key, the truck wont start because it can't recognize a key is there, you put the key in that hole, truck recognizes key is there now, now you can start it.
Ohhh. Got it. Ok good to know. Thanks!
You can also use that key spot in the cup holder to program new key fobs if you lost one or decided you wanted another fob. It’s super easy I actually did it on my f150 and it worked with no issues at all!
@@michaelschuerman2847 that’s good to know! Thanks
On my 2016 Mustang GT you can also program one fob to be in valet mode so's they can't hotrod around in your truck.
Awesome video finally an actual Raptor user video with very good info. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you!
The keyhole is for if the battery in your keyfob dies. You cannot start the vehicle without the fob. So if the fob is not functioning because the battery died, you are dead in the water (specifically if you are away from your house and your second keyfob). Dropping it in the hold provides wireless power (like wireless charging for your phone) and allows it to communicate with the truck.
Thanks!
@@bobbygfl I believe it’s also how you change the door code and program a new key
Awesome, showcases a lot of things I’ve wondered about and haven’t seen yet. Thanks!
Hopefully I get my “built/shipped” email this week.
Also, nice Sea Dweller 🤙🏼
Thank you! And thank you! Gift from my wife. I love it.
Very informative video for a first time raptor owner. Thank you
Thank you!
You can save all your drive settings using the “R” on ur steering wheel. U save ur drive mode, exhaust mode, suspension mode to whatever you like. Then when you start the truck again you just push the R button and it goes to those settings! Also with the tailgate instead of reaching underneath to push the button, u can double click the key fob and it should go back up on its own. You can also lift it like half way and it will lift automatically closed after that.
Thanks for the tip!
Mine does not stay set when I do that. Even after I save the changes!!
My 2022 model has the same exhaust rattle on start up, which goes away a within a minute or two. Sounds to me like the valve in the exhaust, but I haven’t gotten around to sliding underneath to look for anything obviously loose in the system and accessible from the outside. Sharing this info so that you know you aren’t the only one with that rattle! 😂
Beautiful truck and good video, thanks for sharing.
By the way, your story in another video about the waiting game with ford on the raptor, it’s a tough one. Similar story here and glad to be done with the process.
Thanks!
It's waste hate that is rattling. Google springs from Lowes to fix ford raptor waste hate rattle. It worked great for me! And everyone else who has done it!
If you pick up on your tailgate, it will close automatically, no need to press the button
Thanks! I had no idea when I shot the video lol
Great video! Thanks!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video! Learned a lot. Do you know if the rattle is exhaust related or due to something else? Did you have it replaced?
Yes, please check out my playlist. I have a bunch of videos on this truck and I do talk about the replacement of the exhaust valve spring. Ford completely redesigned it much. New one actually has a spring versus just a tension washer completely fixed the rattle and it has not returned and it’s been almost 2 years
Excellent video lots of nuggets. Odd question where did u get the step stool asking for a friend?
Amazon! Great for grandparents! SPLENDOLE Folding Step Stool - 9-Inch Non-Slip Foot Stool for Kitchen, Bathroom, Living Room - Compact and Lightweight Stool Chair with 250-Lb Maximum Weight Capacity Step Stools for Kids and Adults a.co/d/5FcOJWz
Good content. I’m also in Fl with a ‘23 that has the 37 package.
Thanks!!
The key slot in the back rest of the rear seat is to lock the bottom cushion in the down position to protect the stored items under it. You can buy an aftermarket release kit that will allow you to gain access behind the left rear seat back rest. I find it easier to lift the tail gate 2" to 3" by hand or knee to activate the power closure motor . If you lift it more then that it will not work.
Great tips!! Thank you. That makes sense on the tailgate.
On the previous gen G150, you can reach down behind the driver's side back seat, next to the outer support for the headrest and locate a small strap. Pull up gently on the strap and it released the seat back. There is a company called Built Right that make a handy device to make the process a breeze.
Unfortunately, I am not positive if this carries over to the 14th Gen (current) F150.
Nice truck! Raptor owners have changed quite a bit the last 10 years 😂
Family truck! And thanks
Awesome video again! How did you get your outside mirrors to tuck when you locked the doors?
It’s an option in the settings menu. Thanks!!
Older models you can do it with forscan
7:47 love the blank fix
Thanks! Most people just don’t understand lol
thank you so much for the video ..
by the way they say if you choose the 2000 watts behind the rear seats you will hear a sound its like a fan sound and it is annoying ! .. is it right ?
Not that I’ve heard. The fan for the front seats is louder than I thought but nothing coming from back there. I’m thinking of doing another video like that so if you have random questions please let me know and I will add it to my next video.
Good video ! Cheers !
Thanks!
Where did you get the Husky Storage box that's in the back of your truck? I searched everywhere
Home Depot. They still sell them. I just saw them last week in their shelving area.
The Raptor is my dream truck. Would love to have 2024 Raptor R. Ill keep dreaming. While I drive my hoopa with 250,000 miles. Torn sests, drooping celing, leaks and I get that awesome burnt oil smell. Better than the Gulf Breeze in Pensacola, Fl
Thank you very much for the comment. If it were not for dreams, there would be no reality!
Do you know how to make the lights turn off faster after you lock the truck ?
For some reason it takes almost 10 min for them too turn off on mine I have gen 3 as well
no, but i thought i saw something about this in one of the menus. if i find it ill reply back.
I diddn't know about the excessive oil consumption on my 2021 Raptor. Ialso added an oil catch can that installed into the PCV connection.
That’s really interesting. I haven’t noticed any oil burn yet, but I am seriously considering a catch can. Thanks for the comment.
That’s a crazy angle for metal to bend your gonna have slight imperfections around curvature depending on the depth
It’s the weight and perfection of the surface of the press. Mercedes, for example stamps their panels more times with a heavier press and replace or resurface the molds more frequently. Ford does the opposite and you end up with waves. I’m sure the truck would be 150 grand if they did it differently.
Did you post the Amazon link to the antenna?
I just did but here it is Rydonair Car Wash Proof Antenna... www.amazon.com/dp/B07WTZK6RH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
try this out just lift up a bit on your tailgate and let it drop it will auto close no more reaching for the button I found that by accident also my 2023 has a big camera button instead of start stop makes it easy to hit when driving
Thank you! So much better
The exhaust rattle is the spring replacement the dealership does they did it on my 21 Ford raptor, and the rattle is back so next…
That’s a bummer. I’d make them do it again. So far my rattle is still gone. How long did it fix it for. I don’t drive it much.
Also the key fob whole in your cup holder if for some reason you bought a used one and it didn't come with the door code you need both key fobs to retrieve it. Or you can look at the module on the passenger side kick panel that is where the code is located also.
Good to know! Thanks
Actually it's for programing new keys, and for of your fob battery dies, it uses a magnetic sensor to recognize your key in the vehicle so you can start it.
The key hole is for when your FOB dies. It reads the chip and allows you start the truck When the FOB is no longer transmitting.
Thanks
My 2022 is rapid red. Under the hood is a much darker matte metallic red. Any plans to do the climate knob swap to the ones with the digital displays?
That’s interesting. Good to know thanks! The climate knobs I’m not sure are possible because the programming has the temp on the screen. I wonder if it’s as easy as just swapping them.
@@bobbygfl I was told it was a forscan thing.
The tailgate will raise automatically if you lift up on it slightly.
that's great to know, thank you!
Just push up a little on the tailgate it will close automatically
Thanks I did not know this until somebody else commented. Duh lol
Do you happen to notice a light buzz or vibration in the gas pedal? I’ve got a 2022 and am having this issue. Nothing major but can be aggravating.
I use to get that vibrations in traffic. Also I guess 90-100F in Dallas is making the engine to vibrate. I dont get any vibrations on highway speed.
mo, zero. a bit of vibration from the back end. feels like a wheel balance issue
Because in California if you have it in sports mode or Baja mode you can be ticket and by court order you have to have it removed
Ahh. Thanks!
Key in cup holder-by putting your two keys in gives you the door code
Thanks!
Hi Waht brand is your cargo divider?
I got it on Amazon. There’s a new model. Just search on Amazon.
that hole in the cup holder is to start your vehicle if the fob battery is dead.
Thanks!
Can you give us the part number for the start/stop switch?
Here’s the video with the part number ruclips.net/video/6CJDKCY9ojI/видео.html
Can you fit in a 7 ft high underground garage?
I believe so as long as it’s perfectly flat
Can you change the screen UI to a dark theme??
Yes. There is a dark mode.
It’s for if the battery in your key fob is dead
Thanks!
Man take a look at any new wrangler front doors by the hinges and you’ll feel a lot better about your doors lol
Lol. Crazy. You don’t see it until you see it. Then you can’t unsee it. You’d think they would make them better.
@@bobbygfl Yep you’re right. The doors are aluminum and idk if they put the hinges on by hand or by robot but either way they clearly push way too hard when screwing them on. Some are worse than others. I’ve seen some that half the door is dented from the hinge lol mine is thankfully not quite that bad but I have trained myself not to look at it anymore haha
Panels are sorted so if it’s getting painted black it’s perfect.
Thanks for the comment
What tonneau cover did you go with?
Revolver x2. Love it! bakflip.com/p/bak-revolver-x4-tonneau-cover/
@@bobbygfl thanks, definitely looking into that one for my gen3 Raptor!
@@wyliecoyote5.082 posting an install video this week.
@@bobbygfl look forward to it!
hello I have a 2023 raptor and on idle I have this annoying rough idle only when in drive on the road is fine but at a light idle is rough are you experience the same promblem?
Yes, every once in a while, it seems to idle rough. I’ve noticed that also I mentioned it to the dealer they reflash the computer, and it seems to have gone away.
I’ve had the same issue since buying mine. It’s usually at idle or when I release the gas at low speed. I haven’t taken it in yet but it’s good to know what dealers are doing to resolve it.
The tailgate if you just bump it, it will go up without pushing a button
I found that out and felt so stupid lol. Thanks!
It’s all good that’s how we learn🤷🏼♂️
what do you do for a living
Retail
What are your real world mpgs?
15ish. I don’t drive it much but that’s what I’m getting around town in sport mode.
@@bobbygfl thanks. My Mojave Gladiator gets 16.5 but they’re just so unimpressive performance wise when you’re talking about the engine, acceleration…just everything. I’m picking up my black Raptor on October 14th! Excited that it will actually move when I step on the gas.
The doors are wavy due to being aluminum. Most all manufacturers that have aluminum doors there are waves. Some are worse than others
Porsche, zero waves. From what I’ve learned it’s the power of the press. Very high pressure stamps which are very expensive to maintain have no waves.
That rattle you hear is your exhaust valve spring they make an upgraded one that is an actual spring The original one I don't know what it is it's garbage. Also your tailgate no reason to reach to close it just push up a little let it go it'll go up by itself or use your key fob. You seem very picky like myself about vehicles The best investment you can make for that truck is a set of power running boards so much nicer getting in and out of.
Thank you!
It probably doesn't stay in sport mode up on restarting the car to get around California's bs dB or loud exhaust garbage law. If the car defaulted to a louder mode people might get fined
I didn’t consider that
Can’t weld steel to aluminum
Ahhh
Never discredit Ben Hardy
Legend
$100,000 money pit.
Lol. Well at least no problems in the first 5000 miles lol
@ 6:08 I don't care.
Lol. How can anyone care? Good enough for Ford good enough for us
Complains about random rattle in the truck. Proceeds to show all of the random crap in the back including the plastic step stool resting on the metal spare tire kit 😂😂😂
Amazingly none of that rattles it’s really just the stupid exhaust and shocking to me that it’s common and Ford produced a product that rattles. Especially on a truck that literally has no rattle anywhere else. And is there a top-of-the-line? I’m sure it’s the flappers that change the exhaust settings. It’s just very unfortunate ford didn’t get this right.
Anything post 2020 is made like shit...
Yep
The rigid’s are trash.
Thanks
You have 800 miles on your Raptor, about you start driving the thing and stop nit-picking at it. Im am very happy i’m not in your head it must be unbearable. Try taking the thing in the desert , go high speed in the sand that what’s its made for.
Cheers
u sound broke and w/o a raptor
Thanks! And yes. Agreed lol!
