The grid is the biggest negative, it is too low profile to cut the light to the sides
@@johnnyweissmuller5838 Can't you just stack it?
@@finimirondid you find out if that’s possible?
@@ac14081408 I bought a Walimex Per rollable reflector panel 150 x 200cm for better light control but it is possible if you build a frame, and you can easily build one out of carton 😂😂
I’ve been waiting on more reviews of these. Thanks man!
Welp. I want it.
I want it, I get it, I wanted, I get it 😂😂
Ive been looking for bigger lightmats that i can actually afford! i own a couple soft boxes but youre right about the space.
Just saw this on B&H. Pretty nice and the F600bi looks even better!
hell ya its jacket inside season LETS GO
Homie has an OWSLA hat, thats a flex right there, shout out to him!
I‘ve seen seen these lights on the Godox channel…. Love the size and the flexibility🤩 awesome Video again👍👍👍🍿🍿🍿
I'd been aspiring to get an Amaran 200x and light dome, but worried about the lack of space in my little editing office and semi-RUclips studio...a thin panel I could affix to the wall or ceiling seems ideal. For my 10x10 space (with a 3x6 desk and 4x6 driving simulator crammed inside) the 2 foot version would probably be adequate, so cool to see your vid pop up right after I first saw this flexible panel style of lighting
this is a great review thanks man! What light stand are you using?? Looks good!
hey guys, do note the ballast is not IP 65 rated just the mat!
I love the 2x2 amaran go with me every shoot
Have you used any of the intellitech lights? I have the XL light cloth and it’s pretty darn awesome.
im waiting for the f600bi
I need this but for Aputure. The f22C price is amazing but I’d splurge for a 4x2, 4x4, or 3x6 for a softer look. This format of light will be meta for shoots. All we need is the rgb from Aputure and they’ll have my money
you can always put a diffusion scrim 4x4 or even bigger and put the f22c behind it with no soft box...im sure 200w would be enough
or if you find yourself wanting biggest and softest for the 90% of the time maybe get a 300d for the same price as f22c and use that with an even bigger scrim...for me practicality is more important...and 2x2 is actually softer than you would think...
Is your spot Dwell? I feel like I was just filming over there recently!
Good review. How long is the head cable?
It has plenty of slack.
The Intellitech 2x4 Mega Lightcloth 3.0 is the same price and RGB! It's 200w vs the Godox at 400w.
What is the difference between the godox fl light mats and this?
Mats are great but not for everyone. I have owned one and my biggest complaint was set up time and flimsiness of this solution. Surly it can go into tight spaces and create soft light, but you can have soft light by bouncing COB into a bounce board or even a wall.
There's also a 2x2 version 200w for like 650$
I’m intrigued by the possibility that this type of large light source could be hung in an artist studio as a substitute for a north facing window. I’m just wondering how it might renderflesh tones in comparison with natural daylight . Any thoughts …
I would not recommended any LED when working with critical colors. Natural daylight is best and then incandescent lights are the second best at spectral reproduction. Godox doesn't release SSI scores which is suspicious. There's a technical review of these lights on the Gaffer & Gear channel which claims that SSI's are 84 at 3200K and 74 at 5600K. For reference, Amaran 200x S scores are 90 at 3200K and 89 at 5600K (so much better). Hope this helps.
@@inkusaido thank you , that is very helpful and I’m going to look into this further .
@@inkusaidoyou were so right - I just watched a youtube video where they had a face lit on one side by daylight and on the other side by the amaran and they are virtually indistinguishable and also they explained that thing about the excessive peaks being corrected. Thanks again for the tip, this may well be the best light for my needs.
Does it comes with the grid ?
Yes, it does.
That mounting frame looks really flimsy. How does it feel in use?
nah its solid
The ballast isn't water resistant doe just the light mat
Any fan noise on the ballast?
A little but nothing to be concerned about
Hey Spenser! Since a grand plus doesn't seem to be a problem for u, why don't u just donate a Godox F400bi Light Mat to me & I'll give it a real test in the Alaskan wilderness this summer. Then we can just do comparison notes. Your conscience will feel better. 😎😎
$1,000 is a stupid price for this. All of the soft panel lights are vastly over priced.
Dude, you're not interviewing people. Get a lav so you can be hands free.
A 1000 US dollars is still not affordable for a light!!!
Use the sun bro, its free!
Yes it is
It's all relative. Compared to the competition it's cheap. It's a lot of money though
Relatively speaking, Yes it is. Lol
Torn right now between this or the 600
600 is huge. I went with the 400
