    ------------------// FOOTNOTES \\ -------------------
    1. KEEP VIDEO SHORT.
First go thru all the footage and only use the good stuff. Start with the most cinematic stuff and fill in the gaps with other footage if necessary.
    2. BASIC RELATABLE EMOTIONS. We appreciate the small things, the human moments in these videos. Sometimes the videographers don't know they got something because they are focus on only what is beautiful, these moments make the video so much more rich.
    3. MAKE EVERYTHING SLOWMO
I use TWIXTOR, but Premier and final cut have their own versions of making slowmo. One good tip is if your computer cannot handle the playback of slowmo, just export that small clip and re-import it into your edit. Save it into its own SLOWMO folder and make sure to export at the bitrate of what it was shot at-- so its close to lossless.
    ***DOWNLOAD TWIXTOR HERE revisionfx.com/...
    4. STOCK FOOTAGE WEBSITES
They can get pricey, but if it's worth saving a client, then maybe its worth it. These are the ones I use.
    -PEXELS (FREE)
    -DISSOLVE
    -POND5
-FILM SUPPLY (THE BEST, SUPER EXPENSIVE)
    5.FIND OTHER FOOTAGE
Facebook, Instagram, photos.....heck, even footage from their parent's wedding!
    6. RESHOOT
Who said reshoots are only for blockbuster films? I reshot a wedding 2 years after, and it didn't involve and wedding settings, or bride or groom. You can reshoot anything. Use a tight lens, focus on whats going to give you the same feeling of footage you are missing.
    7. GIVE MEANING TO YOUR MEANINGLESS FOOTAGE
Lev Vladimirovich Kuleshov was a Russian and Soviet filmmaker and film theorist, one of the founders of the world's first film school, the Moscow Film School.
    7. MULTIPLE TIMELINE NARRATIVE.
Every Christopher Nolan film ever made.
    8. ROYALTY FREE MUSIC
    ARTLIST.IO
    EPIDEMICSOUND.COM
Nuff said, but maybe we are entering a time where music is used freely and right holders just monetize?
    9. SONG USED
MYSTERY OF LOVE - SUFJAN STEVENS
known from the movie "call me by your name". And no I'm not gay, I was just an actor for 10 years and know good acting.
    10. OVERLAYS
The LIGHT RAYS overlay was created in DaVinci Resolve 14, totally free BTW. Super easy, just drag and drop.
The Flare overlay was also a drag and drop in Premier pro, it was keyframed to add a little movement.
    11. GUIDING THE AUDIENCE
FILM GRAIN- This can be done for aesthetics as well, in this case, it was a little of both. Film grain was a free download from DISSOLVE stock footage.
    12. SAVE PIXILATED FOOTAGE
By adding a MATTE CAMERA SCREEN, (setting opacity to screen) you are giving the audience a voyeuristic feeling, as well as making use of the terrible footage. Subconsciously, we are more forgiving of that type of footage with a camera overlay around it. Another idea would be to add an iPhone overlay, or perhaps make the framing 4x3 to make it look really old...... In this case, I wanted to make it a touch different from the other "old" footage.
    13. VOICEOVER
This is a great option to use, I wish I expanded on this, but Its such a delicate art form that needs its own episode. Here are some voice over alternatives.
    -Poems
    -Alan Watts teachings
    -Carl Sagan
    -Movie Monologues

Thanks yo. I def don't have anything against PM, the dudes a legend. Set the bar very high for creators and gave a lot of tools away.
      Two things to consider.
      1. A 10 minutes video performs better than a 9 minute video. RUclips algorithm .
      2. At a certain point you get good at breaking down difficult concepts and piecing then into small digestible segments for your audience--- all while leaving room for a follow up video. Economizing how much information you give away is a skill set. One that I have in all honestly not perfected.
If you add those two concepts up, you can see that the structure of his show and others like him, it's a refinement of the art, and sustainability of material / information moving forward.
Just my thoughts! I could be wrong!

    • @FlyingHazel
      @FlyingHazel 5 лет назад +38

MAKE. ART. NOW. For sure! Didn‘t want to bash PMK since I have huge respect for him and really like his stuff. However, I sometimes don‘t feel like watching his latest vlogs as I‘m worried how long I have to sit through chitchat until I‘ll learn something. This might be different for other viewers who simply enjoy being entertained by his personality for 10+ minutes.
I also appreciate that you put the essentials of your vids in the description.

    • @rgiannino
      @rgiannino 5 лет назад +8

@@FlyingHazel I see both sides, but I def enjoy PMK even when not learning something. The entertaining factors is worth the time. In addition, I know his knowledge is coming so worth the banter, IMO.

Two words.....that's all. That was them. Crap, now that's 10....now 11.....crap need to count the number I'm talking about. Okay. So now it's 27. Right?

    • @TonyAaronII
      @TonyAaronII 6 лет назад +1

I'm just trying to help you get where you can go. I once had a guy who really didn't actually like me that much SHOVE a hard drive FULL of DaVinci Resolve tutorials and install files into my chest. Now I'm a professional level colorist and all of my shots look that much more beautiful and everything I do for my studio is that much more in-house. DaVinci. Resolve.

That's really clever ! Hah. Nice.
2 annoying observations about being in this industry too tho. 1. Alot of videos are intentionally like that! Ie lots of un emotional b-roll. Flowers etc when theres a TON of awesome stuff happening on the day of a wedding.
    2. When u say 'no drone' like that...sigh...like u MUST have a drone to make a good wedding video. Sigh again. It's the industry ! Like I said, theres a TON of awesome stuff you'd be missing out on if you started droning around. (I do have a drone but only use when ample time). The whole idea that u have faff about with tons of b roll for a wedding to me defeats the whole point of a wedding. (Besides the necessary b roll...to cut away from unlucky shots etc )
