    I loved this video, really helpful. After years of trying every diet and not eating breakfast for decades I'm trying to eat regular meals every day and I feel like I'm stuffing myself. I also am cutting back on my exercise (67, retired personal trainer). I need to lose 10kgs and am recovering from HPylori, I'm recently in remission from Hashimotos. God I sound like a bloody mess!

      You sound like you're doing what you need to do. How are you getting on with your recovery from HPylori? Do you have any ulcers as a result of it?

    What’s your opinion on protein timing in relation to working out? Should one eat some carbs before a workout? If so, how much?

      I include a few carbs (as in oats or a slice of wholemeal, homemade bread) before a workout, but it's predominantly protein that I'm aiming for. Same proportion of macros as my post workout meal too.

    What is the science of metabolic adaptation? Is that the term for when your body develops a new baseline to your restricted calorie number so that you stop losing weight?

    • @katehartley7566
      @katehartley7566  3 месяца назад

      yes. Our body is very clever and will slow down when we don't feed it what it wants. EG: If calories in are 2000 to maintain a steady weight of 200lbs and then you increase your exercise (just for this eg), so you burn an extra 500 calories per day, for 7 days a week, = 3,500 calories = 1 lb of fat lost a week.
      Keep this up for 4 years of losing 1lb a week (approx 200 weeks)
      So now you have lost 200lbs and you weigh exactly zero.
      You have disappeared. It doesn’t make sense does it?
      So, somewhere along the line, something changes because you can still lose 200lbs and not disappear. And that is metabolic adaptation.

    Also, what’s opinion of cheat days to avoid metabolic adaptation?

      i believe in lifestyle, so for life. There are bound to be days when we eat and drink more healthily than others. What we want to focus on is long term health that works within the healthy default envelope for each of us (which varies with each individual to a certain degree). When we fuel ourselves for health and incorporate strength training, our metabolism will work for us.
