I had missed the TV series that made the books come alive. The new series is OK, but hearing the voice Christopher Timothy once again makes my heart so happy. Thank you for this. And thank you Mr. Timothy.
Christopher Timothy has a lovely voice ,and I have all the originals on dvd and they're lovely, but the new series has the characters completely correct ,Helen is a true Yorkshire girl ,James is a real Scotsmen the new series is brilliant, I ll always have a soft spot for the 70s version but absolutely love the new ones ❤️
I miss this program so much. People need these types of stories now a days. I enjoy thier voices and the scenery. Not to mention the animals themselves.
I loved Christopher Timothy, Robert Hardy and Peter Davies in the televised series of these wonderful books. All the family would gather round the tv as the theme song introduced us to our weekly fix of escapism into the wonderful world of James Herriot. God Bless you Alf White for your amazing books and thank you so much Christopher Timothy for your reading of them , your voice and characterisation is just brilliant.❤
This was my favorite show while growing up. Now we have a new series of All Creatures that may be even better than the first. Now I've discovered that these audio books read by the original Herriot. Life is now just a little bit more fun.
I was rather upset when I found out they aren't really his memoirs but novelizations. I wish I had never read the introduction to the _The Real James Herriot_ . I was so upset I didn't read the book. I know everyone talks about a post-truth society, but back when he was writing and I was reading his books (1970s and '80s), there _was_ such a thing as truth, and we related to it differently than we did to fiction. It took a long time for me to enjoy the books again, and it is still not so much.

@@lindseyhaswell9766 sadly the new series fabricates many stories. Not necessary imo
Thanking you for the leisurely interesting country read! Ay, laddie, thoroughly appreciated! God Bless you. Much Love.
The entire old series is on BritBox.
Love listening to these stories . Over and over .

I learnt a lot from James Herriot as a child that helped me caring for horses and other animals. Thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing

Glad you like them!
I've loved these books since I was a kid in the '60s...such a treat to listen to them this time around!
But they were published in the 70s!
The reading is so Relaxing.

Nooo! The new production series is not a patch on the original. I just keep rewatching those 1977-1992 originals.
