Pajero is a great choice. I've got a triton with the same engine/driveline and I can't fault it. However they need a snorkel if you're taking it anywhere near water. Yes it's a petrol but the intake from the air-box sits just above the wheel arch with the inlet very exposed to water. I was driving through bog holes no deeper than 3/4 of my wheel and managed to get water all the way up and through my intake. No I wasn't going excessively fast... Every time it goes near mud I find little specs of it on the bottom side of the air filter. The factory bash plates are also paper thin.
Not sure if Graham remembers but he had the privilege of riding in my Pajero & watching it in action in Yalwal back in 2011. The best part of the whole trip was the enduring friendships made, no matter what people drive. Cheers Boys
What shauno said about the 80s made me happy as to hear. I recently picked up a 95 1hdft 24v auto 80. Its factory tripple locked, has 33s, 3 inch lift, dropboxed, dropped sway bars, fresh underbody spray, brand new alternator, ac compressor etc. I'm the first New Zealand owner. Freshly imported from japan in immaculate condition with 198 thousand ks. Everything works. Picked up for 23,500nzd. Well under 20k aud. I waited about 4 months for the right 80 to show up, and haggled him down to that price. Showed up cash and hand and left a happy camper. During this lock down I've jusr finished installed my brand new front and rear mcc barwork, chucked a new head unit in and greased front wheel bearings. I'm stoked with my purchase and have already been offered 30k for it. Which is just mental. I couldn't reccomend 80s enough. I'd also highly reccomend buying just a standard 12v 80 series with just centre diff locks. Can find them for cheap as in NZ and will go anyware

Dad bought a Holden rodeo brand new in 2003 for trade work and 17 years later it runs very slowly but it’s never broken down never had injectors replaced nothing just serviced oils and it went best thing ever
100% on Pajero , I was always under the impression they are C...P until I bought one and they are insane off road with minimal mods and was one of the best 4x4 I've ever owned
I had an old 1994 TD Pajero (4M40 motor) and it was just trash. Wouldn't ever touch a mitsubishi again for 4wding. Problem after problem. Some of the tritons seem to go ok with mods, but that's about it for mitsubishis imo.
I've got a good tip. If you drive a manual and you want to reverse a trailer or even just your vehicle up a steep driveway or similar, engage low range 4 wheel drive but keep your front hubs unlocked. Even if you have auto hubs leave them on auto. They won't lock in when reversing so you'll be in 2 wheel drive but in low range. I do this with my 79 series when reversing my camper trailer up my long driveway as i don't need to slip the clutch and i can reverse slowly in a much more controlled fashion. Keep up the great work Shauno and Graham, love you guys. And we all want more of Jocko! Oh and bring back Rocket Rod!

Just watching an older epp Fraser Island 3yrs ago "The Best 4WD destination in QLD". Production quality and Shaun on screen is like watching an old WWII doco. Everything in the latest offerings is next level, better video quality to less of the for the camera performances from Shaun. I look forward to each release now, but where is the old zook as i had one from the day I passed my drivers licencee. I may under utilise my 80 series now as a tow vehicle for my 11 foot caravan but i get away as often as I can. A camp fire by the water whether beach or river, sitting with good friends and cooking who knows what is as good as it can get. Keep up the great work and one day hope to see you by the water.
Guys you hit the nail on the head with the diesel vs petrol mention! I found myself in the sub 5k category as I was just looking for a basher, scored a 90 series 3.4 petrol Prado for $2k. GXL model, lifted, new parts here and there and excellent service history. I’m still under sub 5k with all accessories and wheels and tyres etc. Cruise control still works so hey that’s a bonus 😂
Agree on the pajero / shogun. I've got the 1997 long wheel base 2.8 Turbo Diesel Auto (with standard rearxand centre diff locks). Bullet proof. Again about 5 grand spent to kit it out with 35's, 3" suspension lift with 1" diff drop, 13500lb winch, steel bumpers, hand made rear drawer / storage fold out camp bed (in planning), snorkel, diff and gearbox breathers, light bars for night driving, recovery / work lights, dual battery / split charge system and lots more. Done 200,000km and still going strong. Had some serious abuse in mud so deep you can't open the doors, water crossings upto the windows, near vertical climbs, forging paths through heavy forests and swapy ground, basic weekend camping trips and endless rough tracks (green lanes over here in the UK). Also working as a volunteer 4x4 responder for remote rescue, snow and flood rescue and recovering stuck vehicles. Amazing vehicles! Only issues have been the usual bushes, CV's (twice) 1 alternator, 2 batteries and 1 starter motor.
We have a house on Moreton island and we had a 2000 Mitsubishi Pajero and this thing lived on the island for 16 years and we eventually retired it to the farm up north and she still runs and there is definitely a few issues but nothing serious.. Pajeros are so underestimated.. Amazing car
Last year i bought myself my first 4x4, after doubting for a while, you guys and your crazy video's got me really hooked and made me decide to find one. I actually bought an lwb Opel Frontera B series (2.2l petrol), aka Holden/vauxhall Frontera and Isuzu Rodeo. My friend bought a lwb Patrol round the same time, and while his was already prepped by the previous owner (snorkel, lift kit, front and rear lockers, etc), both of us were actually surprised how well the Frontera kept up with it! I found mixed reactions while researching it online and took a gamble with it, but i have not regretted it so far! Its still totally stock atm, but i plan to mod it lightly in the future, so i can do some more 4wheeling. Too bad i dont really know alot of places here in Europe that are superbe to go to, but i'll find some things i reckon :D Love your video's guys, keep up the good work and the fun!
I drive a 2004 3.5L Mitsubishi Montero Sport (Challenger In Australia) with a 2" OME lift on 33" tires. Drove it 8 hours to Moab, wheeled for two days and drove 8 hours back home through mountain passes without skipping a beat!

Great camping tip: put a bar of soap in a nylon or sock and tie a knot in the open end, then tie the whole thing to your water Jerry can. Now you have soap and a scrubbing surface available whenever you want to give the hands a wash.
Bought a Jeep commander merc 3.0L turbo diesel and best thing I've ever done, she's been super reliable. Awesome offroad, was my dream rig and now I got one I'm not selling it. Totally agree with you mate on the Pajero. I guided a full car of backpackers from Darwin all the way down to Perth. We drove and camped at all free camp spots for 2 months. When we got to my house for beers the driver told me the pajero did the trip with only 3 cylinders and a leaking rear main.
I got my 1989 swb patrol with 120k on the engine and from first owner for 5k. The thing has never been offroad and not a single dent or scratch on. Runs like a dream
My showering setup consists of a 12v seaflo submersible pump hooked up to a shower hose using a 3D printed adapter. I have a suction cup head mount that can go on a window and the pump can fit in the palm of my hand and yet it legitimately gives better pressure then my shower at home. Some people call it glamping, I call it a good time.
Cheers from Shillong, India. A recent big fan of yours. I've been watching your videos everyday since the lockdown and I've been glued to your channel. We have alot of D-Max here as well but to see Graham put it through all those trails just made me have a new sense of respect for that vehicle. Your videos are a big inspiration. Can't wait for the lockdown to end so that we can hit the tracks here. Until then, stay safe!

Guys, I must admit that breakages add to the adventure as discussed in the 25th minute. What's nice about it for me, is to see the camaraderie among fellow travellers, coming up with brilliant ideas on how to deal with these breakages! When I usually reflect back on my previous adventures, these moments always put a smile on my face, and that's satisfying... Greeting from South Africa
Oh guys, you are total life savers!!! I've been following 4WD Action for a good couple of years now, absolutely love all the adventures you bring us!!! Had a tough ol day dealing with all this today but this episode has brightened the whole day up - we're talking way more than a 2" lift!!! Lol I drive a modified Land Rover Discovery 2 currently, love the great outdoors and (when the schools were open) teach about wildlife, natural history, ecology and conservation in primary schools across the south of the UK - I live and breathe all things wild and adventurous. Thanks for another cracking edition of... 4WD ACTION!!!!
My wife and I love watching you guys from the mountains of Colorado USA. Australia is on my bucket list of places I want to go wheeling. My Jeep would love it there.

As you say, "how cool is this?" Chillin at home cos of the C-19 but being able to watch and enjoy with you two nutters....all the way in South Africa. Cheers
I mentioned this tip on the other video as well. But inserting soft rubber tubing such as surgical tubing inside your factory door seals will protect your interior by a LOT. Stops door rattles, seals out deep water, and your doors will close like brand new.
Monteros are awesome. I like them and the 93-04 Jeep Grand Cherokees. The Grand Cherokees are super easy to find and people will pay you to take them off their hands lol. The jeeps have never let me down tho. Leather seats and solid axles hell yeah. With the Montero, I heard the 3.5 SR is the way to go. In the US at least

I run a 2004 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (Challenger) here in the state's! I've been to Moab and some other Colorado trails in it! Check it out @flyingbrickautomotive on Instagram
Haha I drive a 1995 Montero. I am LS V8 swapping it on my channel!
@@shorestyle17 your chassi is same as mine. Only difference I'm running the 3,5 liter sohc🤘
Got a v6 nl Pajero and it’s survived a couple months of bush bashing , tough as nails
Oi How good is the Tuesday 4WD Action!
Great camping tip: put a bar of soap in a nylon or sock and tie a knot in the open end, then tie the whole thing to your water Jerry can. Now you have soap and a scrubbing surface available whenever you want to give the hands a wash.
I seriously can’t get my eyes off how thicc the dirty 30 mk2 is, golly gosh
I'd love to hit a bog hole in it but shauno would never let me
felt good to hit the tracks on Sunday !! slippery track and rain and an old train tunnel !! Cheers Graham and Shauno from the WIld West of Utah
I had one of them pajeros 3.5 and the motor blew up after flogging it so much it was a beast of a car did everything all my mates with cruisers did
Bought a Jeep commander merc 3.0L turbo diesel and best thing I've ever done, she's been super reliable. Awesome offroad, was my dream rig and now I got one I'm not selling it.
It's great on fuel, comfortable and luxurious,7 seater but removed the 3rd row for draws,qd2 will just about go anywhere you point it
Anyone else notice that they always skip over what happened to the zook
I was actually excited to find out what happend to it but they just skipped over it
Yep and why they put a bow shackle on a snatch strap
Definitely ended up in a drunken bonfire
We still need to know!! 👍😉
Yes
We can all stand in solidarity regardless of the Coronavirus not been feeling too good lately but I will muddle through my body aches all over Graham and Sean I've been watching your also for at least two and a half years from from America you guys have been the last 2 years such an awesome time with my four wheeling am I watching you guys for Wheeling your gear reviews your upgrades on your trucks which I made mine you guys are truly awesome at the end of covid-19 there will be people left standing I hope they're 4×4 drive people
The old zook was parted out about 6 months ago on Facebook
Correct, it's had parts sent all over the country from it lol
@@xwgthophase2 Well that's fkd
@@donewhiskey the transfer case from it is in my Jimny and has reduction gears in it now
The Zook is the reason I started watching these guys. Now I'm addicted to the show.
Just waiting for shauno to spill that beer at the start 😂
I got my 1989 swb patrol with 120k on the engine and from first owner for 5k. The thing has never been offroad and not a single dent or scratch on. Runs like a dream
6AM here in Chile, so no beer for me.
Stay safe over there! Hope to see your adventures soon.
My showering setup consists of a 12v seaflo submersible pump hooked up to a shower hose using a 3D printed adapter. I have a suction cup head mount that can go on a window and the pump can fit in the palm of my hand and yet it legitimately gives better pressure then my shower at home. Some people call it glamping, I call it a good time.
hahahahahh jocko's sign off comment!!! best show ever!!! keep going lads!
1. they didnt explain what happened to the zero dollar zook
2. why does graham have a landcruiser in the background hahahah
otherwise, good video lads
Colin Newland it’s a bud of his I’m pre sure
anyone else watching from the U.S.? love your vids looks like a great time
jon bunch I am! Big Island of Hawaii! 🇺🇸
22:02 I just noticed the "dig down to china" expression is universal, regardless of where you're located on the earth.
You guys should totally do shed beer bloopers. There has to be some gold that we didn’t see.
Since I was born, my dad has owned a Holden Rodeo, Holden Colorado, Isuzu DMAX and another DMAx. All very reliable utes
Movin Sharma since I was born my dads owned one Hilux and still the same Hilux
Ive had my Ls for two months and have owned two RA deos and I'm now building an RC, Love them to bits
Cheers from Montana. Loving the videos. You guys crack me up. Acting like $20k is way out of your league while sitting in your sheds with a fleet that's had probably more than $200k spent on them😆
I am from the Dutch , i own a Suzuki vitAra with a 1.9td vw conversion with a total 10 inch lift
I love the trips and the fun you guys make !
Sadly in the Netherlands we don’t have so much playground.
Keep going on guys!!
Loved my NL Pajero, gutted when it got recalled recently 😢
You guys need to do a project pajero me thinks🤙💪
Hell yeah!!!! Give me inspiration for our NL Pajero
I’ve got a mate that’s done a dual cab chop on a pan?
An Aussie in Dubai. Great channel and show. Miss the adventures in Oz. Oh, yeah, I have a cold one in hand.
*Might 90 Prado owners* 3.4L petrol $5000 first car (Y) or the 1kz Diesel = 1Million km Donk
My wife and I love watching you guys from the mountains of Colorado USA. Australia is on my bucket list of places I want to go wheeling. My Jeep would love it there.
our midlife crisis - noticed these boys never say the “J” word.....
I’d love to have beers with the camera crew to hear about their gear, how they approach shooting the show, and what kind of bs they have to deal with from the talent. :-) Cheers!
Why don’t you guys have a million subs already? Clearly one of the best outdoor contents on RUclips.
do this everyweek even when things return to normal
cheap tip: change the window winding knobs with skateboard wheels. much easier to close the windows when you're covered in mud
Hell yeah the good old NL Pajero. I’ve got the 6G74 3.5L petrol and it’s the best 4wd I’ve ever had. Still got the old girl and never looked back
I’ve got one too mate the old mans car and I dont know whether I’m gonna keep it cause it’s a petrol auto and just don’t know whether it’s okay for the cape and stuff 🤷🏽♂️
@@darcyhank6747 mate petrol pajero is not an issue in cape York. Just put a snorkel on and seal up the air box. I’ve done a tonne of water crossings on my old girl and loves it. So long as the air box is sealed well, diff breathers, transfer and gearbox breathers all extended you won’t have an issue.
@@dantrucker7623 cool cheers mate 👍🏽
Hey guys, my son has a 2000 Ford Courier super cab. We call it Big Red. It’s a beast. We have set it up for touring. We have gone to Townsville, Cairns, Mt Isa. We even did the Simpson desert. We should be in the Kimberleys atm but there is always next year. My Son Chris is vision impaired and has mild cerebral palsy and is unable to drive but he has his Uber driver Mum and off we go. He was able to drive in the Simmo and it was such a thrill for him and me. Up the east side of Big Red. Woohoo. Our Big Red just keeps going. You have been invited to come and look next time your near Brisbane.
Can we see more of jocko’s lux with the massive flex from a few months ago
Yeah mate that things a weapon
As you say, "how cool is this?" Chillin at home cos of the C-19 but being able to watch and enjoy with you two nutters....all the way in South Africa. Cheers
When social distancing ends I’m headed to inskip / fraiser for my 18th in my 2005 Nissian X-Trail
You might find the odd landcuiser inskip.
I guess you don't have any plans on returning home then.
Grim Reaper I’ve done it a few times to inskip and made it home fine
Joshua Culross it’s a granny’s car
This channel has made me want to get into 4wd driving, well done
Are you ever going to go 4x4 in a different country like New Zealand or somewhere in Europe?
Neven Branovic fukn oath come to nz boys
they have some crazy tracks and trucks in Indonesia
BarryJPR Tasmania is Australia
Graham mention about something like this last year at a meet
Appreciate this addition to the channel. Garage talk hour has been nice. Cheers
You can’t go wrong with a jimny, samurai, niva, pajero
I just got my first Land Cruiser 100 Series here in the US for $8k. I'm loving it!
There’s some bloke getting around south Brissy that has a black SWB GU
I know exactly which one you mean, it came into our workshop for some repairs last year
@@maribrafiq3652 sounds like he mate. Plenty of SWB patrols in brisbane
They were easily bought for less that 8k in Ireland but most ended up in eastern Europe
I mentioned this tip on the other video as well. But inserting soft rubber tubing such as surgical tubing inside your factory door seals will protect your interior by a LOT. Stops door rattles, seals out deep water, and your doors will close like brand new.
Is that a chopped 76 series in the background of graham?
Yeah it is it's his m8s
Greetings from bonnie Scotland. Beers in the shed is brilliant. Keep them coming.
are you going to bring back the Suzuki
Monteros are awesome. I like them and the 93-04 Jeep Grand Cherokees. The Grand Cherokees are super easy to find and people will pay you to take them off their hands lol. The jeeps have never let me down tho. Leather seats and solid axles hell yeah.
With the Montero, I heard the 3.5 SR is the way to go. In the US at least
mynamesjeff hi i have an 89 montero. I live in Hawaii. My engine is about dead and looking into another.
What’s the best rookie mistake you guys have done
Good Day from the US. We all in this together and we will come out stronger on the other side. Hang tough PPL. May God bless! Tipping one up for all of you.
