This video was really well made, you hit a lot of solid points! No one ever talks about the bevelling on the case and bracelet that actually adds to the comfort. Most people simply talk about how beautiful the watch is!
I have this watch and I can confirm that the blue dial is like none other I've ever seen on a watch. The many shades of blue you Will experience on this dial is deffinitly beautifull.
Finally someone points out the design benefits of this bracelet - the group think that grand Seiko bracelets are not good is silly - Seiko designers are much smarter than the general RUclips community - it’s a bracelet designed for the office, for dress and for comfort, it purposefully avoids a giant bulky divers clasp with diver extensions which are ridiculous because nobody dives lol. Amazing watch - it’s such a great symbol of practical Japanese design. Not arrogant, but beautiful, functional and reasonably practical for its price.
I like that because you're so used to expressing with your hands, you end up doing it while holding the watch. It was rocking back and forth for the entire review 😂
I really hate the GS logo but damn this case design is so modern classic and it loves light play. Even that quartz tick is smooth. It smashes any other quartz
You could do with more variety in your shots, particularly wrist shots in different locations as we want to see how the Grand Seiko sits and wears. However your short review is excellent and maybe a game changer for me. Quartz is seriously underestimated...I have a beautiful Rose Gold Cartier with a Quartz movement ... it is not just a prestigious jewel to look at but has been quietly and inaudibly ticking away for 20 years without recourse to servicing or repair. The battery life is about 2 and 3/4 years. The new ones will give you 6 plus . I have bought two higher end mechanical movement wristwatches recently and I am delighted with them - but I feel my modest collection could do with a regular no frills, no hassle, day to day watch. I looked at Rolex OP (say no more about that!) I have studied Omega Aquaterras (really great) and recently Grand Seiko's mind blowing 'spring drive' mechanicals. Following your review I can now see that the Grand Seiko X265 may well by my 'catch all' solution. I will take a closer look at the Watch at my local dealer.
GS, like any mechanical watches, won’t consistently hit the makers on either side of the dial but they DO generally hit perfectly between 10 ~ 2 . . . I myself own the Tough Quartz SBGX341 and I almost went mad in Tokyo finding the piece with PERFECT alignment . . . In the end there was always a small degree of compromise so I just set out to find the one where 10 ~ 2 hit closely with 12 hitting _perfectly . . ._ I plan on picking up a 265 for my daily beater . . . Considering having a GS-affiliated jeweler remove the second hand to afford the piece a less hurried mien but . . . Not sure I could bring myself to do so 😅

Question, is the blue dail the same as the Grand Seiko reference number SBGP013 or is there some differences in the dail ? Reason im asking is because i know the SBGX265 is 37mm and the SBGP013 is 40mm, but every time i see a SBGX265 on Video or in Pictures the blue dail seems to pop more.
Try not to shake the watch with every word you are say. I know it’s difficult when you are used to using your hands to express yourself. Other than that I really liked the video. Beautiful watch!
If you are talking about the bracelet, sadly there is only a set of half links, which are allow a pretty close fit, but not prefect like you would get with micro adjustment. Sadly i believe this is the case with all grand seikos on bracelets.
@@inova11901 he must keep it in the box. If one wears the GS 9F watches daily, moving in and out of warm and cool temperatures throughout the day, there is no way it's less than a second in half a year. It isn't even the one with the star on it that claims 5 seconds in a year.
Is it considered to be a flaw if the second hand doesn't precisely align with the second markers in high end quartz pieces like this? I guess not but I've based purchase decisions off of it regardless (i.e., forfeited a purchase) . . .
Well it is accepted that the second hand will not always align with the markers since the the weight of the second hand is high enough and the motion is quite staggered that it causes the seconds hand to miss the marker slightly, this is something GS has addressed with this movement. If the second hand repeatedly misses every marker by a large amount, we would consider that a flaw which you rightly should request be fixed, but it is quite easily fixed.
@@KPsWatches - thank you for such a speedy reply! In truth I’m giving very serious thought to the purchase of a very modest, very discreet GS SBGX349, whose matte azure dial was quite stunning in person. My only qualms are the quartz movement (hence by question about the hand and the markers), because I’m one of those who finds it difficult to reconcile a quartz movement with the concept of a ‘luxury’ watch, and its dearth of any real water tolerance . . . It’s hard for me not to think of such a watch as ‘delicate’, and that’s not really what I’d want to go for. It’s fine for settings like ‘wandering a shopping mall on Saturday afternoon’, or ‘at the office’; not sure if it’s OK for easy woods hikes and the like . . ? I also bought a pair of extremely run-of-the-mill gold-coloured quartz Seikos in Auckland a few years ago (online, from Christies Jewelers, picked up in person, about $400 NZD each), as I was certain that _one_ of them would have a misaligned second hand (I was right). I figured I’d enquire but the woman on their hotline said that this wasn’t within the purview of the warranty to ‘fix’ as it wasn’t really a mechanical fault, and that to fix it was basically an ‘impossibility’ owing to _technobabble technobabble technobabble . . ._ This, I’m afraid, was / is the degree of customer ‘service’ that one can expect in the retail context of New Zealand . . . 🙄
You can purchase them brand new from watches of Mayfair for a discounted price. There is a grand Seiko boutique in London. Second hand they sell on eBay on occasion. You can buy them straight from japan but will have to incur the 20% import VAT.
For these watches you can get them changed at any watchmaker at around 40 GBP, but it might be a bit more expensive to do it with grand seiko themselves, although there is theoretically no difference in the service provided.
I have never had the chance to hold both the sbgv225 and the SBGX265 at the same time, however both are just as stunning, and in my opinion the only difference was the case size (with that said there is the possibility that they have slightly different shades of blue, my eyes are not the best at discerning different shades of one colour). I have not experienced the sbgv239 so could not tell you what the blue on that watch is like. What i can say is that if you are set on a blue dial, id base the choice of watch on 1. case size for your wrist 2. the case shape you like most. Worry not as much about the shade of blue as they will all most likely be very impressive in person. Also if you have a GS boutique nearby, go visit and look at them all.
Hi, In real life the watch is blue, for some reason cameras seem to make the dial look purple especially if there is an led light in the background, hence the purple in professional photos.

Energy consumption to make a smooth sweeping second hand. Wall clocks don’t have to worry about energy, their batteries are huge compared to wristwatches.
I bought this one straight from Japan, they do not break easily at all, they are made to a very high standard, comparable to swiss watches in the 2000-3000 GBP price range
To my opinion the watch is poor design, if they put the letter GS on the top and the Grand Seiko letter on the bottom at number 6 would be nice it’s just look empty
My opinion very nice watch but the highest price , for someone shouldnt be over 1200$ why to not buy a tag heuer? Grand Seiko is really my favorite brand but they must take care their prices a little...
Its a matter of preference I believe, Grand Seiko dials and hands are finished well above that of what you get from Tag Heuer, they sparkle differently to the polished markers on a Tag Heuer , but yes for 1200 the Tag Heuer's are very worth the value.
