    Thanks for taking the time to make this video! New to fishing so in my opinion the hagens is a lot more forgiving for a newbie.

    For Hagen's you can buy the kits (there are three) to bend from the thinnest wire all the way to 0.059 wire. For thick wire you have to buy the Twistec magnum so you'll end up with two units. Hagen's with interchangeable kits can do them all. Also Hagen's can make diferent loop sizes depending on which kit you need. There are aplications where you need tiny loops or big loops.
    Personally I like Hagen's for versatility.

      @1joebabb  Год назад +1

      That’s very true. I mainly fish for bass and crappie, so the need for the larger wire just isn’t there for me. I have been catching myself using the twist tech more, as it’s quicker with a few less steps. Also it takes up just a little less real estate.

    I attached an aluminum bar to the bottom of my Hagen's machine and used C-Clamps to hold it in place and make it portable. I like the Hagen's machine just a little better.

    • @1joebabb
      @1joebabb  4 месяца назад +1

      @@Counselor77 Thanks for the comment! Making it portable is a plus for sure. The little trays on the hagens is a nice extra feature as well. I find myself using the twistech more these days, probably just for the speed. The hagens has the extra step where you have to flip the wire over to bend it back before making the loop.

    Great video and nice looking spinners, I have a pile of panther martins, xd mepps that go thru heck during the white bass run. I have a bunch of bent up trebles and torn up dressings on the hooks. I need to learn to replicate the dressing on the panther martins so I can make some up new dressed hooks to replace all my bent up ones.

    • @1joebabb
      @1joebabb  5 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate it! Something I have also done, which I need to make a video doing, is refurbishing old mepps lures. My Grandfather had about a dozen old ones that were exactly as you are describing. Rusted hooks, bent and just beat up! He gave them to me to see if I could do anything for them, and basically I just cut them off the old wire and put whatever was salvageable on new wire. They turned out great and he loved them! Not to mention it probably saved him a hundred dollar bill!

      I’m not sure that I do. I have a smorgasbord of beads, blades and clevises. I’m usually pretty random when choosing, depending on what I’m going for. I’ll have to be a little more conscious of that in the future! Thanks for the comment!

    the mounting holes on the hagen seem to be almost the same distance apart as the mounting holes on the clamp of the twistech, if they line up well enough, you could just use the hagen together with the clamp made by twistech.

    Dont get it. Why do so many Americans make it so hard ? There is 100% no need to spin it in both ends at all - waste of time. Start in the hook end by making a small loop, and leaving 2-3 centimeters (3/4” - 1”) of wire.Then add the hook to the loop, then fold the two wires together and then pull the body down to the loop with the hook, and then a pearl/beads and the blade and finish of with a loop and twist it - finish.

    • @1joebabb
      @1joebabb  2 месяца назад

      I get it… you don’t make them the same way. That’s ok!! I have made them how you described as well. I wouldn’t say it’s harder or faster to make them either way?? Might be an interesting race? LMK!
