      In Japanese it would still be called a katana because it’s a single-edged blade, and katana really just means “single edge blade” (kata means one side, na means blade) Y’all really need to understand the difference between katana and uchigatana

    • @angelocadena7094
      @angelocadena7094 2 месяца назад +1

      @@jonnylawless6797 Being technical, I see. But we all know what this guy really means when he says 'katana,' especially considering the non-traditional methods and shortcuts used to make it. Sure, in Japanese, 'katana' refers to any single-edged blade (with 'kata' meaning one side and 'na' meaning blade), but come on, the essence of what people think of as a katana goes beyond just that. And yeah, there's a difference between katana and uchigatana, but for most, it's more about the concept than the specifics. As for the 'Damascus' part, it's likely termed as such to meet the least qualification, to achieve a pattern, but without the full depth of traditional craftsmanship.

    • @CarlosHlavacek
      @CarlosHlavacek 2 месяца назад

      @@angelocadena7094 Tampoco es Damasco... 😉 es un hojaldrado de 2 aceros, típico en sables japoneses. El damasco, es un acero de alto carbono pero flexible, se forja a baja temperatura en ambiente de penumbra para controlar la temperatura, esta era de unos 800 C° aprox. rojo cereza, y las franjas son el resultado de los cristales del acero que se van rompiendo durante la forja. El tipo de forja determina la dirección de las franjas que pueden ser laterales o transversales, depende de como se estiró la pella. Y al igual que este sable corto, un baño ácido permitiría ver las lineas, que pueden ser muy finas y darle al acero un color azul. El "Bulat" del los sables cosacos, tiene el mismo origen. Ambos se hacían a partir de un lingote de "Bootz" o "Butz" que traian de la India.

    That is a Wakizashi, not a Katana, by normal standards that would be described as a short sword. Also a Katana is not just a sword, it's the tradition, the art that goes into making one. It may look like a Wakizashi, but it's just a copy. Please don't use the word perfect to describe it.

      That it is a fine weapon, I have no doubt. Based on it's size, I would call it an O tanto, it looks a bit small for a wakazashi. And for God's sake man, wear some eye protection!

    Parece una wakiszashi, tiene forma de wakiszashi, es de acero como la wakiszashi, pero ni es una katana ni una wakiszashi. El proceso para crearlas es muy distinto.
    ¡¿Una wakiszashi con acabado damasco y empuñadura insertada y pegada con epoxi?!.
    Aparte de eso, queda una espada corta aparente.

    More like: high quality stock removal, long tantō blade made from damascus steel extracted from large bearing
    Its shape remotely resembles a katana, but it is shorter, wider and thicker, the katana/tachi/wakizashi/uchigatana, among several other details has of course a longer, narrower and thinner blade, including the particular heat treatment
    Nice job though

    No es una katana. Y mucho menos perfecta. Deberías buscar mas informacion para que tu esfuerzo tenga mas valor. El acero 52100 de un rodamiento no se forja a baja temperatura si no queres tener fisuras. Si vas a hacer una hoja larga como esa con un acero de alto carbono seria buena idea incluir un nucleo de hierro.
