I picked one up today 9-11-2017. I have watched a ton of reviews on RUclips about it and decided go for it.. The 20% off helped make the decision easier.
I was looking for a stand for my hand drill and accidently I saw the web page for this HF drill.,,, and a few reviews including this one. These were helpful as I usually do not value HF tools as high quality... With a coupon the price became under $40. Well it is below all drill stands I have found through web search! It is quiet, light and much easier to use than a hand drill on a stand....and the "Honey-do" projects get done far easier an with more precision. Thanks for the review. It helped me make up my mind Now if I could find a video clip that shows how to build a bench that can help store the drill with minimum effort.......
I've had my HF drill press for about 2 years, maybe a bit longer. I don't have any real complaints about it. I was sure it wasn't going to be top quality when I bought it, but for the money (I paid $59 for mine) it's okay. Lord knows I've thrown $59 at stuff and didn't get anything near as good. You could do worse for more money.
You speak the truth. It's a great deal for the money. I bought a microphone for more that lasted for less than a month. I'm sure the drill press will be working for a few years at least. Take care!
You can get stands you just sit your drill in. Not sure how good they work. Where's the product made? China? You could fill the column with sand in a plastic bag (which I use with speaker stands). It seems pretty good for the money. I guess as an engineer you like the accuracy but for non precision use it seems it would fit most contexts. Pretty good if you ask me.
I'm sure it's made in China, most HF products are. I was really surprised at the quality for $65 bucks. You could hardly buy the motor for that. I agree, not a bad tool. Take care!
I've bought same drill press. I enjoy using it for my projects. I've taken spindle pulley off and added more wheel bearing grease to the top bearing. Also i tighteing up the spring cap to eliminate slop a bit more. Overall i like this drill press for my budget.
Harbor freight must have bad quality control or different levels of quality for different price ranges. my drill press is a 8" 5 speed drill press at $60 on sale , what piece CRAP from China. extreme run-out and play in the spindle and worse with the feed handle down 2 inches and the motor runs hot, noisy. The base and table are not cast iron, instead sheet metal. Pay more and buy a vintage Rockwell or Craftsmen, Delta or an old Atlas..

Thumbs up for the impressed pun.
Thanks Eric. That was a real "no pun intended".
Let me know what you think, and thanks for watching! Take care.

Also i leveled spindle pulley with the motor pulley. I hope any of this helps.
