because of Rick Rubin’s book The Creative Act, Im able to finish my 4th upcoming album TIL I LAND…and its my most freeing and personal and artistic music project to date, mostly due to the mindset and lifestyle of an artist that Rick’s wisdom presents...and that part around 01:57:30 is very true whenever people ask me about whats so good about the book, I tell them that reading just 1 chapter will make you have the right mindset to want to create something at that very moment 🙏🏽💎🎶with gratitude, LaynoProd

I grew up in the 80s ALONGSIDE rap music. I remember when Rapper's Delight came out. I was 5 or 6 but THIS WAS THE SOUND. In white middle upper class Dallas where I'm from, WE ALL LOVED early hip hop. It had penetrated the mainstream LONG BEFORE the conventional wisdom says. When Licensed To Ill was released WE ALREADY KNEW HOW AWESOME THE BEASTIES WERE. That came from Krush Groove which was like our Citizen Kane. What i'm saying is that rap PENETRATED far earlier than they say it did. We were down with Run DMC HARD by the time of King of Rock, much less Raising Hell. WE ALL knew about The Show, La Di Da Di, ALL the big groundbreaking evolutionary steps AS THEY HAPPENED. I saw Public Enemy in concert when I was 13, opening for LL Cool J, PRE it takes a nation of millions. Like, Yo Bum Rush The Show was brand new. Hearing the opening beats of Eric B and Rakim's I Ain't No Joke was the hip hop equivalent of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. THAT SONG is where hip hop's first leap forward occurred. That moment. Maybe it was just my school or scene. We didn't have to be told that Paul's Boutique was iconic 2 years after it failed. WE ALL HAD THE YELLOW HEY LADIES/SHAKE YOUR RUMP CASSINGLE A MONTH BEFORE THE ALBUM CAME OUT.
