I think a good way to use the "new years goal setting" technique, is to only choose three goals. One big project, that you really need some time for (e.g. writing a book), one that you keep doing bit by bit / regularly over the year (e.g. the 50 book challenge, doing sport two times a week etc.) and one smaller one that's just for yourself (e.g. a trip to a certain city, a week without Internet etc.). That way you do set yourself goals and have something like a "plan" for the year, but still have the time and space to actually do it. I noticed that with the list of 10 goals, you're just trying to push too many things in one year and at the end of it, you rather have the feeling that you "failed" the list than the feeling of having accomplished something (though if you think about it, especially you Hannah, accomplished a huge lot this year! I mean publishing a book, planning and doing a live tour and still having the time to read, to go to the cinema and theater plus having the time for your friends and boyfriend... Isn't that something? :D) So I can totally understand that you ditched the 10 goals list :D Maybe try the three goals list, would be cool to know, what you're up to next year :) Love from Germany!
OK so this was the first year I set myself a new years resolution that I actually took seriously and so much has changed for me. At the end of last year my life was kind of falling apart and a lot of stuff happened that made me feel very broken so my resolution was to stop bending over backwards for people and put myself first and it has changed my life. I'm a happier person now, a more confident person, I've finally grown into myself and I finally feel like I am who I'm meant to be. I mean we never stop changing and I intend to continue growing right through 2018 but I am so proud of who I've become in the last year because the change is just crazy.
Tara Beth I'm so proud of and happy for you! :D I've had the same problem for most of my life now and I'm also trying to figure out a balance of doing things for people and not neglecting myself The guilt is still strong, but I really think I should take care of myself more, so I'm not letting this goal get out of my sight!
Totally feel the parts about priorities changing. Even though an aspiration is a great one and may have high importance when we make the resolution, life happens and other things come up and we just may not want the same things anymore. Solid vid!
Hi Hannah I really like the optimism You usually put in your videos. I've been depressed and suffering from anxiety and watching you makes me feel better. Also love your accent!
I think your actually one of my favourite RUclipsrs I find you so easy to watch. It’s weird but you kind of feel like a friend when I’m down I always rewatch your videos.
I realized that I just like your speaking, I started to watch this video and then started not understanding it but just listening the voice and doing&thinking about other stuff. Then I also realized I have done this a lot of the times when a new video is up. Even just hearing the voice is enough for me then.
The play that goes wrong is AMAZING!! You won’t regret seeing it. Also good luck on your masters. I’ve just started one part time too and it was the best decision. Forgot how much I loved learning even if I am cursing trying to do assignments after doing a full day’s work.
Aw it's so good to see new videos so frequently, I'm gonna be gutted when Vlognukah ends! Great job visiting 3 new countries this year, I try to visit at least one new country every year and it's been successful for about 5 years so far! See you tomorrow :)
I've been making resolutions by categories for the past couple years. Creative. Health. Travel. Other. One resolution per each and that's been working for me really well
Ten goals is so many goals!! I usually pick five to six in a few different categories (financial, social, personal) and I think it is a bit easier to focus that way.
I really enjoy your video’s Hannah, I have been subscribed for a bit over 18 months now. Thank you for being you. I have been going thru a very bad time lately but you seem to have such a fresh look on life and I really enjoy watching you here. These video’s have more than once made the day just a tad brighter and I cannot than you enough for that!!!!
I'm really excited to hear more about you doing your master's! I watched the initial video you posted about it but I'd love to hear more about your process. Please share this journey with us!
Love the attitude you have towards New Years resolutions, I've always stayed away from them as I never thought I'd be able to dedicate myself to them properly, but may try this next year!
Your videos are always super inspirational?? I know I don't comment much but I watch every video and I really love the favorites and resolutions especially because they're kind of... really relatable to me :D This was a great video (and this series is amazing!) - thank you for sharing!!
The play that goes wrong is one of my favourite shows! I saw it earlier this year and it was great! If you're a lover of slapstick comedy, you'll adore it! 💞 I'm going to miss seeing your videos everyday once Hanukkah is over!
Good work 🙂 honestly my main takeaway was a reminder of how awesome it would be to live in Europe and to be able to jetset around to different countries with ease
I didn't set any goals this year, but I've already made some for next year! Mostly financial (get myself out of debt, start a savings account etc.) and a few personal. I tried to make them all achievable while still being a bit of a challenge as I am someone who gets discouraged if I don't complete things properly - as evidenced by sometimes writing "eat lunch" on my to-do list so I can check something off - but I also want to push myself out of my comfort zone. Bring on 2018!
I'm changing my goals setting method too this year, I'll be breaking down each goal into smaller, achievable tasks and set no more than five since I know I won't achieve more than that! Last year I had made a bit of a mess and hadn't properly set goals but overall I had so many experiences, lived so many memorable moments and did so many incredible things I'm happy even if i haven't achieved all I hoped to!!
So jealous of Europeans' access to so many different cultures and geographies. I live in the middle of the US, so far from any mountains and bodies of water.
I picked my goals based around my word of the year which was move. I wanted to move out of home, get my license, and lose weight. I did the first two and have started at the gym to attempt the third one. :)
BeingErin with you on that losing weight thing :) I gained a lot of weight over the course of two years and only recently got diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The meds help a little but mostly the weight gain has just stagnated. But hey, baby steps are still steps in the right direction :) I think with weight loss it's important to go slow and steady and not be too hard on yourself to make sure you stay healthy both physically and mentally
My only resolution was to read 37 books this year (1 book every 10 days or so) and I'm at 30, but I still have a few on the go. So I'm feeling good about it.
Ooooooooh!!!! Is that a little sneaky peek of DAN THE MAN on your phone at 3:40?!?!? I really like watching these annual vids of you reviewing your new year resolutions, it shows how you've grown and your priorities have changed. But also understand that they can also set the theme for your year, when sometimes you just want to go with the flow xx
Kimbers Maria I can’t tell whether he’s just really tall or if I underestimated how short Hannah is 😂 Also it seems like he looks exactly how I pictured in my head
Could you elaborate a bit more on why you will be abandoning this resolutions system/what parts of it don't work for you? I find people's approaches and reasonings to this fascinating, so although the general idea seemed to be that your priorities changed throughout the year/upon more reflection, I would love some more thoughts!
Have not really made new years resolutions. But have gone on a trip alone to Denmark and Sweden. Have read 18/25 books. Got stuck for a while at some sucky book. And had a goal for more exercise and better health. Did not do well on that at all, but have got myself a therapist again.
I lost track of what most of my goals even were. So for 2018 Goal #1 will be to keep track of my goals. The three goals I do remember I did graduate from college this year, I got a Fitbit and started to keep track of my exercise sort of so lots of goals for 2018 surrounding my physical health. I did not read my goal of 50 books but did read more than last year, so I made a new reading goal of 36 books (3 books a month) that's smaller but still challenging.
I've personally chosen to NOT have NY resolutions since 2016. This way, every thing that i do is something that i have accomplished. When i did this resolutions lists in the past i usually failed them, so yeah, i accomplish to do more things this way.

I don't shop at Zara (or any other store owned by Inditex) anymore and it does mean putting more effort, but I am no longer supporting a questionable brand. Now I just need to get over my other fast fashion faves (looking at you H&M).
Great video. I love making lists, even if I don't check everything on them. So I think I will make a new years resolutions list just so I can start a new pretty notebook and come up with fun things to do :)
I achieved at least 1 of my goals for this year, which was to read at least 1 book for every month (though I may have cheated a little bit by finishing a book after midnight on the last day of the month...) but so far I have read 36 books this year! (Vs a terrible 8 books for the entirety of 2016)
Continental European countries I recommend you to visit for 2018 are: Bruges in Belgium / Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina / Sicily, Florence + Naples in Italy / Bergen + Oslo in Norway / Salzburg, Graz, Linz + Vienna in Austria / Gothenburg in Sweden / Zurich, Lucerne, Geneva in Switzerland / Ljubljana + Lake Bled in Slovenia / Gijon + Barcelona in Spain / Lisbon in Portugal /
Well I laughed a lot at your live show so I'd give it a tick. I really like how not only have you done a lot of your things, but your life developments have changed them, it's just odd when you look back and think 'wow, shit changes'

SAY NO TO SUGAR, SWEET, FAT THINGS, EXCERCISE EVERY DAY, I always eat many sweet cakes, so i can have diabetes in the future
My resolution was to give up Tinder for a year so I could forget dating and concentrate on my mental health. In 2017, I recovered from my eating disorder, got rid of my anxiety, came off my anti-depressants and am still Tinder free. 💁
Emeline I'm sure that's not true! It's pretty much the only thing I've done this year mind you, so I'm sure you win overall! It is great fun though! Try making some queso fresco or paneer it'll give you the bug! If I'm honest I'm not sure it was the most productive use of my time 😂
Congrats on deciding to do masters! Also looking forward to your thoughts on relationships, what is important for you to have a healthy working relationship etc. How has your thoughts changed since being with Dan?
Dillon Francis summed up my 2017 pretty well with his last shirt (and now my lock screen) with “Fuck 2017” and him him spreading his hands to make a rainbow in between them and above the words
I set two resolutions for myself:find a job Actually start creating art to work on my dreams Did not find a job, but I wrote a script and got a blog,so I sucked lol. You did amazing,6/10 is incredible!
Luv u so much You're the only RUclipsr talking about sex and relationship that I can stand while I am desperately single. Take that as a really lovely compliment ♡
From what you’ve said in the video I’m gonna guess charity shop but I would LOVE to know where your spotty dress that you wore to the New York thing is from!
Mine were stop biting my nails (I stopped for a month then started again) and write a diary (sorta did that I put a colour for how ive felt and if its my period or if ive had a derealisation episode and there's space for a rant if I need one )
I didnt really have any 2017 resolutions but I already have one for 2018 and it is going to shows (theatre, comedy)! also, 6/10, that dodie reference 😂 and you talking about coming here, to Spain, my heart stopped for a minute 😂
I went to the live show - and yes it was funny! I was on my own but sat next to a mother & and daughter who were doing sort of research to see what they could do with their guide unit, and they went to the show to see what the youths were into to see if it was appropriate for their guides... I think they decided against it :')
I actually don’t think I made a New Year’s Resolution bc I was so proud of myself for doing my 2016 one that I was afraid of disappointing myself but not doing that 2 years in a row lol
My two goals for the year were to (1) exercise regularly (not a lot, just regularly) and (2) cook nutritious meals for myself. If we’re allowed to give half marks, I probably got half for each of them, because as soon as life gets stressful/busy, I fall off the ‘goals’ train. Anyone got any tips to...not fall off the train? 😂

It’s so wonderful to hear that you’re making cruelty free and ethical purchases. Thank you for being a voice for those who may not have one.
Hi Hannah I really like the optimism You usually put in your videos. I've been depressed and suffering from anxiety and watching you makes me feel better. Also love your accent!
Congrats on 400k Hannah, you deserve it!!

Is it just me or has Hannah be killing it all month? Looks different too in a amazing kind of way👍

I love your vlognukah, and that's actually how I found you and subscribed to you last year!
The play that goes wrong is sooooooooo good
Now mourning the loss of the 25 dates before 25 book. Can you tell us how you met Dan? pls

I think you are doing full well, Hannah. Resolutions in my opinion are not made to keep. They're go have goals and make priorities clear.
dodie reference yass. The only goal I had was to read 20 books and i friggin did it, I’m reading my 21st now! :)
Love the attitude you have towards New Years resolutions, I've always stayed away from them as I never thought I'd be able to dedicate myself to them properly, but may try this next year!

I love when you say "New York Question Mark" that is sooo cuuute !! ^^
Love u
I rewatched your 2017 Resolutions video just a few days ago so it was fresh in my memory, and really helped me enjoy this video!
The play that goes wrong is one of my favourite shows! I saw it earlier this year and it was great! If you're a lover of slapstick comedy, you'll adore it! 💞 I'm going to miss seeing your videos everyday once Hanukkah is over!
My one goal was to start playing music on my channel and I did that and was really proud of myself for overcoming that hurdle.
I still remember one of your resolutions "giving opportunities", I loved that and I try to follow it too! ☺
I failed at my only resolution to read 50 books this year as I'm only on my 36th.
Can't help but love all of your videos
This is so nice, I really enjoy this series :D Also, congrats on giving people a chance girl! I'm happy it worked out the way it did
Exactly the video I've been hoping for. Just watched you're 2017 resolutions video. Great as always!

My friend LOVES The Play That Goes Wrong.
Can confirm Hannah's live show was very funny, in fact I was crying by the end (because I don't conform to gender stereotypes)!
Andy Hartley wish why does it say you commented this 1 hour ago

"Imagine I've got two hands" - errrrrmmmmm, I don't know how to break this to you, but your mind is about to be blown!
My resolution was to lose weight, I can now say I have put on weight 😂😂
The play that goes wrong is good xx
Love your hair in this vid
Have not really made new years resolutions. But have gone on a trip alone to Denmark and Sweden. Have read 18/25 books. Got stuck for a while at some sucky book. And had a goal for more exercise and better health. Did not do well on that at all, but have got myself a therapist again.

I don't shop at Zara (or any other store owned by Inditex) anymore and it does mean putting more effort, but I am no longer supporting a questionable brand. Now I just need to get over my other fast fashion faves (looking at you H&M).
You could use your story about your failed second book and write a romcom
I also decided to give the 50 book challenge a go and currently on 55. Safe to say I read a heck of a lot!! Xx
Great video. I love making lists, even if I don't check everything on them. So I think I will make a new years resolutions list just so I can start a new pretty notebook and come up with fun things to do :)
You look really good in this video (not that you don’t all the time!!) 💛
Why not make a video about your nice charity shop collection? :))
BlueSkies11 oh yes, I would love to see that
You did really well!!!!
I achieved at least 1 of my goals for this year, which was to read at least 1 book for every month (though I may have cheated a little bit by finishing a book after midnight on the last day of the month...) but so far I have read 36 books this year! (Vs a terrible 8 books for the entirety of 2016)

if you have any vintage shops near you they are amazing for ethical clothes!
Well I laughed a lot at your live show so I'd give it a tick.
I really like how not only have you done a lot of your things, but your life developments have changed them, it's just odd when you look back and think 'wow, shit changes'
my resolutions are all to do with productivity and uploading to youtube :)
Really nice video Hannah! Great for a sunday evening :)
I didn't officially make resolutions, but I did have a few goals. A big one was to be more social, and specifically, tell my crush I like him. I've been trying to be more social, haven't made any progress on my crush. That's just not gonna happen. I did finally make the team I wanted to make. And I didn't reach my book reading goal, but I read close to that amount. I don't think I really made a lot of progress this year...but it was a year, and I made it through it.
Being more social / making the team / reading almost the good amount of books sounds like progress to me! Well done

Your tour was brilliant. And hilarious!
One of mine was to pass my GCSEs. Yep, did that one pretty well
Well I haven't done any of the things I said I was going too but I did learn to make cheese which is pretty cool :)
Phil Richards That is very cool actually
Thank you very much, nice of you to say that!
I'd recommend anyone try it :)
Tbh, making cheese sounds more fun and productive than most things I've done this year 😂 Must have been a cool experience!
Emeline I'm sure that's not true! It's pretty much the only thing I've done this year mind you, so I'm sure you win overall!
It is great fun though! Try making some queso fresco or paneer it'll give you the bug!
If I'm honest I'm not sure it was the most productive use of my time 😂
Haha I may have exaggerated, but I'm sure you did good stuff too, we're always hard on ourselves around the New Year. I'll try to make cheese one day!
4:56-4:59 passionate follow through
Congrats on deciding to do masters!
Wow, you're ambitious! Would love it if you could type them in description, because I might nab a few for myself!
Shes amazing
I'm in the process of switching over to all cruelty free as I use up stuff :)
If you're ditching this system, are you doing something new instead? I was so curious for that :]
Happy holidays!
I set two resolutions for myself:find a job
Actually start creating art to work on my dreams
Did not find a job, but I wrote a script and got a blog,so I sucked lol. You did amazing,6/10 is incredible!
sometimes i feel like i'm the only one who sticks to my new years resolutions? idk i just like having measurable progress in my life
Luv u so much
You're the only RUclipsr talking about sex and relationship that I can stand while I am desperately single. Take that as a really lovely compliment ♡
My resolution for next year is to like all your videos.
From what you’ve said in the video I’m gonna guess charity shop but I would LOVE to know where your spotty dress that you wore to the New York thing is from!
I never make new year's resolutions cuz i like to have low expectations cuz it creates less disappointment👍
Everyone should try it
It's great
Mine were stop biting my nails (I stopped for a month then started again) and write a diary (sorta did that I put a colour for how ive felt and if its my period or if ive had a derealisation episode and there's space for a rant if I need one )
I didnt really have any 2017 resolutions but I already have one for 2018 and it is going to shows (theatre, comedy)! also, 6/10, that dodie reference 😂 and you talking about coming here, to Spain, my heart stopped for a minute 😂
the play that goes wrong is so fucking good!
I went to the live show - and yes it was funny!
I was on my own but sat next to a mother & and daughter who were doing sort of research to see what they could do with their guide unit, and they went to the show to see what the youths were into to see if it was appropriate for their guides... I think they decided against it :')
Amazing and beautiful! Beautiful video; I'm a fan...
Looking Beautiful Girl!!
I love you, Hannah...
Do a 2018 one !!!!!!!! Pleassssee !!!
Loved this video, wish I could remember what mine were...
I actually don’t think I made a New Year’s Resolution bc I was so proud of myself for doing my 2016 one that I was afraid of disappointing myself but not doing that 2 years in a row lol
I'd love to do a masters at some point but I'm not in a rush.
It's December 18, I still need to reread all of the Harry Potter books... I'm on Deathly Hallows... AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Wow I love you
what lipstick were you wearing in this video?? it looks so nice
i just got to the part where you said it was mac lmao but would love to know the shade :)
Great video, Hannah. :)
