Do you have the Img file for these by any chances, I’m planning on spray painting my Dreamcast soon but have a chance of removing the tiny labels on front
Such a great video! I downloaded your image sheet to do my own Dreamcast. How would I easily change the color of the prints? Maybe a light gray or sega blue.
Thanks Rocker! Yeah, I see a lot more potential, especially if I had white toner, which would be even better for this application... and a colored laser printer would take it to another level.
So, when boiling the black base coat onto the bottom shell, how did you preserve the bottom info stickers? Also, the port for the modem; did you do anything to protect the RJ11 port from flooding the inside of the modem? Really appreciate the video, gives me all kinds of ideas!
Pull off the stickers... carefully! And take apart the modem. Do not cook the electronics! But yeah, let me see what you come up with. BTW, the dying process is very difficult. Temp too low and the dye will not penetrate. Temp too high and the plastic will melt and it’ll be like a wet noodle. The temperature needed is so close to the melting point of the plastic. Also, you’ll need to coat it with clear to protect it. Good luck. And thanks for being inspired!
These are like the decals from scale model kits. There’s some water soluble glue on the back and are made to be used with water. But if u use stickers like on the Toyota Celica Remote Control body, u can use Windex to slide them around and get them in the place you exactly want it. Also helps with eliminating air bubbles. You should try this. I know you’re creative.
Hello, please explain how you colored the case. I'm at home in Austria and don't know how it was done. I would like to do it too. Please answer, really brilliant, my respect
Nice. I would like to also see a good way of *removing* decals from consoles without damaging their surfaces. I had a couple of black SEGA Sports Dreamcasts and I tried removing the decal with what I saw was some of the best recommended techniques (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser) but it left a fine abrasion that removed the console's sheen. So, I ended up covering the SEGA Sports decal area with a SEGA logo sticker just large enough, and it ended up looking nicer having that bold SEGA on a black background. I gave it to my nephew and he loved it.
Yeah, they are not really decals , but I believe the logos are epoxy paint, hence the extreme durability and can withstand a whole range of chemicals. The stuff is never gonna come off without resurfacing or damaging the plastic underneath.
@@The_SegaHolic Aahhhh... makes sense now. Thanks Bro. You're the best. Maybe to look for something that dissolves epoxy paint, yet doesn't harm plastic? The hunt begins...
@@The_SegaHolic Definitely! Was already researching water decals for my Retro Game Restore Clear and Smoke PC Engine shells that have no PC Engine logo but I also have a bunch of ratty Dreamcast and N64 consoles for UltraHDMI and DCDigital installs. Was thinking about hydrodipping to hide the scratches but a dye and spray seems to be the way to go. Also plan to see if a trick from the world of 3D printing ABS plastic, "Vapor Smoothening," will help with scratches. ;)
@@The_SegaHolic Will do. If the vapor-smoothening works on the scratches then it'll smooth most of the texture too, which is good reason to use a textured paint/primer. Should be really hard to see original blemishes after all that. :)
@@cameron6262 researched it before. I believe someone makes white toner, but it’s expensive. Option is to use the white waterslide and make a black border. But you’ll need to cut perfecltly.
I still have it, It's on the shelf. It's amazing you remember that NES. LOL. I was actually thinking of it, but you an see the edges on bare plastic. Should I paint it? Hmmmmm.....

@@undeadgenesis6713 Awesome. Looking forward to see what you come up with.
you are one of the few people who teach this procedure on the internet, thank you 😃
You're welcome dude. Thanks for commenting. Appreciate that.
That Dreamcast looks stunning!!!! Nice job.
I try! Thanks mang.

That’s dope! Thanks for the tutorial. Now i at least have a way to get the decals back after painting a console.
Yups... Looking forward to see what you guys come up with.
Nice results! You may want to look into something like a Cricut if you do a lot more. It can save you a lot of effort on cutting and accuracy.
Thanks for the suggestion. I need to look into it.

Great video as always! Love the edit and music 😄 Really informative, I never dealt with water slide before, the result are amazing!!
Give this a go man. Super cheap, and fun just thinking of what to put on the console.
Awesome work, definitely going to try this.
Cheap and easy!
Really like the Dreamcast color / decals. I had no idea you could apply tiny decals like that and using the water to help.

I know this video is years old but it still holds up. I'm now upgrading my printer to laser color to do better decals as well
Yeah. So simple to do. I was just thinking about doing this today. Ironic🤙

Spray paint. Use a spray paint that can go on plastic. Clean case with isopropyl alcohol. 🤙
@@The_SegaHolic Apparently there is no way she did it and thanks for your quick reply

Good job dude. I plan on using this to convert a pc engine duo to Turbo duo. Still looking for the full logo..”with super cd rom2”.
Thanks man. Maybe post it on Reddit when you’re done and link/share. Will be interested.
Niiiiice! I have a couple Cricuts, a Cameo, and a SummaCut so my process won't involve scissors but I definitely learned a few things. ;)

Have a website that these replacement stickers can be bought
Where can I get the logos and how to recolor them, please help me
🙂😃 you put sonic there hes over there
Why add dish soap to the dye? What does that do.
helps give lubrication so you can slide around the decals to position. Use a plastic model “decal set” like I show in the video instead.
Do you sell them already made .Get a esty site up.
Now you made me think!
Hello, do you have the reference of the paint to use, thanking you in advance
I used Krylon Fusion here. This color is available at Lowes. I find the paint easy to use and sprays on very nicely.
