Very helpful tips thank you. I'm wrapping my own shit. These shops are out of control with their vinyl wraps. I'm a mechanic I do all my own work including the electronics and tuning. I'll learn this also, why not. Another skill added to my existing skill set 👌
@Trever Collins I don't have as much experience as you guys and I'm also only 20 however I'm going to be wrapping my truck soon and I can't wait to learn how to wrap properly!
@@trevercollins6910 did everything on my car, air, tint, bash bars… you name it. Hoping to do this as well. Good luck to you man, in the same boat sitting at 20 years old myself.
Good video, I've just wrapped some car parts for the first time, my tip is this, don't try to get it perfect first time, you can heat and reheat forever to take ripples and blisters out, make sure no dust is on the surface as IT WILL look shite when finished, start off on a simple part to get the hang of it, a square shape maybe and keep the multi angled odd shaped things like door mirrors to last, the centre console will have some good areas to start you off. I did the internal door handles from a Citroën C3, and they were not easy but after 30 minutes both were looking like they just come out of the Citroën factory, buy more wrap than you need as it's very wasteful wrapping small items, I didn't have a heat gun, so I used a very small hot air heater, on the hottest setting it did the job well, suppose a hair-dryer would also do the job,
Yep, keeping it clean should be priority number one. everything else can be fixed, but if you start with a less-than-spotless car and greasy hands trying to wrap inside a dusty barn, you’re not gonna be happy with the results 😂
Get it clean, keep it clean. Clean your garage floor, clean your hands, clean your tools, change your clothes to something that’s snug fitting and not going to leave lint or pet hairs all over.

I work for a dealership that owns a body shop. My new car(got it used) has some bad paint areas. Even with my discount, it was still nearly 2.5k to get the paint fixed. Am I about to wrap the roof of my car? Yes, yes I am. Will I be patching the paint on my own? yes, yes I will.
Same boat.. even if it takes a couple times and more material for hands on.. putting another check in the skillset box is huge. I agree.. hourly fee's for anything is ridiculous these days.
I live in Nevada, is it worth to wrap a car when it gets to be 120° air temp? Car panels get very hot out here. Would my work just get ruined in a summer?
Hey quick question to anyone who has a wrap company… do you guys fix imperfections in a car or can you, if you do does it increase the price, for my case I don’t care about the paint but it’s just pealing I don’t want it that to show do you guys also sand it down?
Typically wrap shops will outsource to get imperfections fixed if requested but it definitely does depend on who/what shop you go to. Your best bet is to call around and see what the wrap shops around you say about it. You will definitely end up paying more either way to get it fixed though.
Thanks, very helpfull! How many meters of vinyl do you need for a car and how much does only the vinyl cost for one car? I'm looking to wrap my Albar Sonic and could use some guidance and tips
