Dude this is the coolest Halloween decoration ever I have a degree in welding technologies and have always wanted to make some awesome sci fi alien Halloween decorations
Excellent video. The structure is very solid. Made the ship 1/2 size with 1/2” tubing to use for a trunk or treat event. My chop saw made it fast to cut. I used aluminum foil laminated to chip board with air brushed highlights and a fog maker for effect.
Thanks for sharing! I love the enhancements. I use a fog machine as well. I also used zip ties on all the panels instead of gluing this year so that I could break it down and use it again for the next year. Happy Halloween 🎃
@@momof4loves I ended up using zip ties too. Was a big hit at the two Trunk or Treats and lit up nicely for Halloween night. I am doing Steampunk next year.
Great to hear! I’ve changed a few things myself including using metal sheets instead of coroplast ( little bit longer lasting.) I also glued together the top and bottom parts so I can store them easily. Then, I just put the posts on.
Thank you for the video. I have a dumb question, but for the LED strips, did you buy one long strip or did you buy them separately for each side? If so, how did you determine how much you will need?
Not a dumb question. I ended up buying the longest set I could find and using the connectors (included with set and bought some additional). It's a little tricky to connect them but once you get the hang of it, its easy to do. I hope that helps.
Hi Sherry, the size of each cardboard piece is 12" for the top, 28.5" on the sides, and 30" for the bottom. I ended up using sheet metal instead of cardboard because it held up better in the weather. Its more expensive but if you plan on breaking the ship down each year and reusing it, it might be a better option. Hope that helps! Thanks for your sweet comment.
I live in the western US, where we do not get a lot of precipitation. We did have some rain and dew and It held up fine but I’m not sure how it would do in a wet environment. This year, I decided to use metal sheets instead of the corrugated plastic and I’m going to zip tie each panel instead of glue so I have easier access to the inside of the ship.
Another option is Toscano Designs makes life size alien statues that are very good quality www.designtoscano.com/products/the-out-of-this-world-alien-extra-terrestrial-statue-small-ly815032-fam?via=Z2lkOi8vZGVzaWduLXRvc2Nhbm8vV29ya2FyZWE6Ok5hdmlnYXRpb246OlNlYXJjaFJlc3VsdHMvJTdCJTIyY2F0ZWdvcnklMjIlM0ElNUIlMjJHQVJERU4lMjIlNUQlMkMlMjJxJTIyJTNBJTIyQWxpZW4lMjIlN0Q
I am guessing around $200. I did upgrade the side panels last year to a thin sheet metal instead of the corrugated plastic and that added a lot to the cost. Hoping it will make it last longer though.
Excellent tutorial! The final result is amazing too. Thanks!!
Looks like a fun family project to make things festive!!
This is exactly what I was looking for! So excited to make this. Xfiles style👽
Using this video and multiplied your measurements by 1.5 to increase the size to use in our college’s homecoming parade! Thank you!
Please share a pic or video!
Any pics how it turned out?
Child’s plastic pools from Walmart or ace hardware also look great. Spray paint with chrome paint and it’ll look great
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! We made the spaceship for Trunk or Treat and worked out great!!
This looks fantastic! I’m going to follow this tutorial and get to work because it’s never too early to start on next year
I know right?? Thanks for your kind words.

Hello, the elbow connectors need to be 1 in with 45 degree angle. I made the mistake of getting 90 degree angle

@@momof4loves I am thinking of buying on Amazon right now, is there one specific you recommend?
Love it
Lessssss gooooooooo yea yea
Would you please tell me the exact size of the side of the cardboard you used for the sidee panels please. Great job on your UFO

I would love to know if that flex seal spray kept this from getting water damage?

Wow 🤩 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love the ship. Looks great. Think ill try this next year. What is the total width of it once finished, around 4 feet?
Thank you! Total circumference is about 5.5 feet.
We need more Halloween videos
For sure!
any idea where we might find the automated aliens. They are no longer available at Home Depot as far as I know. Great job on the display.
I wish I did and I would get more! Thanks for your kind comment.

v3ry cool
I absolutely love this!! Where did you get the aliens a from?
Aww thanks! I got the aliens at Home Depot. So fun!
How do you make it not blow away
I haven't had too many problems with wind. Maybe you could stake the bottom pipes to the ground.
Looks great but could hardly hear you and I turned my Valium all the way up
nice job, where did you get the aliens from?
I purchased them at Home Depot, but I don't think they carry them anymore.
Can you tell me the circumference? I’m making one for our homecoming float and trying to get an idea if I need to adjust the size
Its about 70" circumference. Love it!
About how much do you think you spent on this DIY project?
I am guessing around $200. I did upgrade the side panels last year to a thin sheet metal instead of the corrugated plastic and that added a lot to the cost. Hoping it will make it last longer though.
Hello would u sell this bc I’m willing to buy it
Wow. Thanks for the offer but I can't part with it.
