Amazing dictation technique with one of the best and most comfortable desktop mikes available. Kudos for that!

I admit that is quite impressive but I was never able to get such results with Dragon, no matter which microphone I used. I've got a bunch of microphones produced by Speechware and as a matter of fact they are the ones that give me the best results but that is nothing compared to what I can get using OpenAI's Whisper. I am a French speaker and Dragon really sucks in my own language but you wouldn't imagine how bad it is when I speak in English. on the other hand , Whisper is even better in English than in French probably due to the fact that it has been trained in that language mainly. I really don't understand how you can get such great results using that program I've always been disappointed about…

Thank you very much for your in-depth comment. I was unaware that OpenAI was engaging in speech-to-text technology, so I appreciate the information. To clarify, the Speechware TableMike is a microphone, while OpenAI Whisper is a software application. The primary input for speech-to-text technology is a high-quality microphone. It seems that OpenAI Whisper would use standard microphone peripherals on computers, which might reduce the quality and accuracy of the speech-to-text application. As of now, it appears that OpenAI Whisper is not available for public use.
You've raised an interesting point about speech recognition software. One of Dragon Professional's durable competitive advantages is its ability to learn non-standard English vocabulary, including a variety of abbreviations specific to individual work areas. Another core advantage of Dragon is its voice scripting capability, such as opening multiple pages or folders by voice, pasting template letters, and other PC control tasks. If OpenAI Whisper can handle all these use cases, Dragon may lose its durable competitive advantage.

@@AccessATS I know the tablemike and I know speechware pretty well as I personally own and use on a regular basis a tablemike, 3 other microphones from that brand and four different types of USB-connected sound cards. I know these are excelent products. I've been exchanging a lot with the company owners, Mr. Boccio, who knows me quite well in the end. I also know all the benefits related to the use of Dragon NaturallySpeaking compared to any other software on the market. The thing is, training the app is very slow and tiring compared to the enormous amount of data OpenAI use to train their speech to text model. And in the end results using artificial intelligence are 1000 times better, no matter the language, the way you speak, the volume, the tone of your voice or the noise around you.The result in understanding one's voice is without comparison. But as a matter of fact, and as you noted, a lot of the benefits of Dragon are for the moment unusable using solutions such as Whisper. But just so that you know, there are ways to use Whisper as a personal user. For instance, you could try the program MacWhisper, which is just amazing, really convenient and user-friendly. There also appears to be a web-based solution, which can be used too if you have no Apple Mac available. Just give it a try and you will see how great that works.
